This is your hypocricy.

My position on characterizations is perfectly simple:

- Other writers are allowed to use whatever characterizations they wish.
I am allowed not to like their characterizations, and to suggest that
they change them. They are allowed to ignore me if they wish.

- I am allowed to use whatever characterizations I wish. Readers are
allowed not to like my characterizations, and to suggest that I change
them. I am allowed to ignore them, if I'm not convinced by whatever
argument they give.

Terrible double-standard, no?

In your own works, you do the same things that you chastise others
about. _That_, my friend, is the double standard.

Um, no. Gary chatises others as he interprets the characters and the
authors are free to ignore him. He writes as he views the characters
and others are free to chatise him. It is your view that he makes the
same mistakes because your interpretations are different from his. It
is not a double standard.

Fanfiction thrives on the fact that we take the roads that Takahashi
DIDN'T. It lives on diversity and fresh, innovative ideas on the
characters. These are the roads you walk, and the roads that you seek to
close to others with your slander.

Now when did I slander anyone? I think you need to calm down a bit here.

Perhaps a little. But you once called somebody else's characterisation
"BS". If you didn't slander the person personally, you certainly slandered
their characterization.

It is your opinion. I have recieved far more negative C&C and never do
I think it is slanderous to myself. Rather I prefer these because it
tells me exactly how the C&Cer felt about my work. Using harsh language
to describe a work is not and should not be considered as a slanderous
remark to the author's person ever. If Gary were to use that type of
language on one of my own fics (which, I'm pretty sure he has) I would
take it upon myself to see what went wrong or right so as to provoke
such a reaction. Never would I feel he was slandering myself unless he
actually says it to me. Sorry, you reasoning is just wrong.

Ranma to be together eventually can come to fruition. Of course, you are
allowed to use your own interpretation... provided you do not chastise
others for theirs.

Nope. Wrong. I'm afraid that's not how it works. It's a little thing
called "the right to one's own opinion." Each of us is allowed to write
as we wish. Each of us is allowed to comment on each other's writing as
we wish.

Uh-huh. This endless acrimony is starting to annoy me. I think I'll go
out and shoot someone. It's a free country, after all; I should have the
right to.

You are deliberately twisting the words. Every C&Cer has a right to
their own opinion. I have mine, Gary has his, and I'm sure you have
yours. If you felt Gary was wrong in any of his C&Cs, go right and
ahead and dispute him on it. If an author does not want C&C, he or she
should say so in plain language otherwise everyone on the ffml is
intitled to their thoughts and opinions on the work.

This is a problem. You are insisting upon a right. However, with
rights come responsibilities, which you seem unwilling to assume.

His responsibilities as a C&Cer are only to give an honest opinion and
to be able to back up what he says. As far as I can tell, he has not
shirked either.

It all comes down to respect. If you don't give any, don't expect
any in return.

This is getting downright flamatory. Sorry, you feel this way about
Gary. I, however, do not and am most probably not alone. He gives
tremendous amounts of great C&C and has easily earned my respect.
