with a guy. True it was rape, but he wouldn't lose any honor now if
he refused to marry her.

When something serious like this is revealed, the entire fic must be 
escalated as well. Serious situations will breed serious actions and 
reactions; in this case, Ranma will have to take his traditional values 
seriously, and marrying an 'unclean' woman would be unacceptable. Say 
goodbye to Kunou and Ryouga as well.

Traditional values?  You mean like filial piety, as in respecting one's father?

One of the main points of Ranma 1/2 is Takahashi protesting against
"traditional values".  She makes the characters who still have them (Genma
expecting Ranma to respect his father, Happosai expecting Genma to respect
his sensei, Nodoka treating seppuku as an honorable way to resolve a
conflict, Cologne and her whole bunch of Amazon "traditional values", etc.)
the biggest fools in the series.

So having A&R defy the treat-rape-victims-like-scum tradition would fit in
perfectly!


Anyway, Archive, speaking of traditions regarding virginity:

If you want to have Ranma be even more reassuring and crank up the WAFF,
have him use another definition of virginity.  So far, I've heard four:

1. Having a hymen.  So women who've had sex (i.e. oral and/or anal) and kept
their hymens are still virgins, women who lost or were born without hymens
and have never had sex aren't virgins, and men aren't virgins.

2. Having never had sex.  Self explanatory.

3. Having never consentingly had sex.  So rape doesn't count and if
virginity is a virtue then otherwise-virginal rape victims are not guilty of
having lost that virtue.

4. Having never had sex apart from the first time as a temple prostitute.
This one's from one of those pre-Biblical Fetrile Crescent societies (around
the time of the Sumerian, etc. empires) that doesn't exist anymore.  There
was a reference to it in Neil Gaiman's _Brief_Lives_.

#3 might be more useful in this situation.

And if you want to crank up the darkness, stick to the
Mrs.-Tendo-died-ten-years-ago timeline, keep everything else the same, and
so have the rape take place when Akane was six or seven instead of thirteen.

After Kasumi implied Ranma might try to seduce Akane, her watching a 
movie with an implied date rape scene, and Ranma hugging her- Akane 
tried to pound Ranma into paste with a mallet and a bokken and to turn 
him into a pin cushion with a bow and arrows (a bit excessive if you 
ask me).

Everyone tends to be a bit excessive. Explaining the depths of Akane's 
heart this way is difficult precisely because it exists in a different 
universe than the manga. If you have you're heart set on this path, then 
the reader is going to need more a more detailed map.

This fanfic is a classic case of filling in the canon blanks with
behind-the-scenes stuff that Takahashi didn't deny.  More details would help
fill the blanks further, but might otherwise be too distracting and/or
excruciating.
