All,
In the interests of offending everyone, er, wait a minute, that's not what I
meant.
In the interests of bringing peace to this thread and seeing fics posted to
the FFML again, I propose a truce. I propose that all signatories agree to
the following principles:
1. The original author cannot be replicated by us mere mortals;
2. Manga is usually primary canon;
3. Anime is secondary;
4. Fanfiction is fun to read;
5. Characters will by definition by anywhere from a little OOC to a great
deal OOC in any fic not generated by the original author;
6. A good story will excuse most excesses on the author's part (The Bitter
End by Zen, for instance);
7. We like good stories.
Can we end this debate by agreeing that we all have our own biases and
viewpoints? I think the HaM preludes are pretty good so far. I've
disagreed with what Gary has chosen to portray on a few things, but that is
my right as a reader. As an author, he has the right to portray the
characters as he sees them, as do we all.
Thank you for your time and patience,
One who should know better,
Mike Allen
