DARK DAY FOR ANIME'S
UNFINISHED FIC TRASHCAN!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Mark:
Yes, peoples.... Here are a collection of Sailormoon fics that I
never finished, or are of some interest in the development of other
stories that I have posted. ^_^
First off, I present the opening stanza of "Bishoujo Mikotai 12",
the fanfic that would have introduced the Mikos of the Silver
Millennium, later seen in "Usagi is Dead".
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The grass-covered valleys and fields that ran between the
rock-covered mountainsides of central Asia were a quiet place. At
least, that was what it seemed to the young dark-haired girl known
as Hecate.
There was rarely, if ever, anyone passing through the starkly
beautiful valley she called home. She liked it that way. It was
hard enough for her to deal with herself without the added
complications of others' needs, and the necessity for the ordinary
social graces expected of one. Her sister agreed with the
sentiments. But then, as their elder would often say, their destiny
was very different from that of others.
Hecate had come running back to the house after playing in the
fields. Naiad, as usual, was sitting on a small stone-hewn seat,
reading. It was all her older sister ever seemed to do.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Mark:
Well, I didn't say it was long. ^_^;;
Next, a bizarre little idea of mine, in which the Sailorsenshi are
cast as beer-swilling Aussie bovver-boys....

BONZA SHEILA SAILORMOONO
by Evil Mokona
Part One
Credit where credit is due, mate. Sailormoon and all characters
within is copyrighted by Naoko Takeuchi, a right royal high class
sheila if ya ask me.
Warning - This fic contains lotsa blue language and underage
drinkin', mate. If dis offends ya, then ya not an Aussie, and
therefore, not grouse.
It had been half a bloody day since Suggo and Mack had a good
drop o' drink in 'em. Suggo's eyes were red and glazing over as she
sat in the front passenger seat of Suzie's Torana SLR5000, her arm
hanging out the window. Suzie, as usual, was sitting patiently,
tapping her hand on the steering wheel in time to Motorhead. The
fact that the stereo was blaring didn't help Suggo's state of mind
as she turned to the back seat, where Mack was lying, groaning.
"Is she out yet? I need a drink." Mack looked up at Suggo.
Suggo just shook her head and peered back across Suzie at the
doorway to the Juvenile Court. Slowly, Suzie switched off the
stereo and got out, a sure sign something was going to happen.
Suggo often wondered how Suzie knew these things. Mack sat up and
leaned over the front seat, watching the Court doors.
Toey emerged through the doors at last, and both Suggo and
Mack cheered. Toey gave the thumbs-up sign and ran across the road.
Suzie opened the back door for her and she jumped in next to Mack.
"Owdit go?" Mack asked.
"Bloody brilliant. They didn't ave a thing on me. Judge
threw the case out."
"Ha! That'll learn the dumb shits." Suggo laughed.
Suzie quietly closed the door behind Toey and got back into
the car, putting the stereo back on. Toey looked at Mack.
"You got any piss? I've been holding out all fucking day,
mate."
"Yeah, so ave we." Mack produced a six pack of Fourex. "Been
holding this for celebration."
"Aw fuckin brilliant, mate. Mother's milk." Toey stuck her
hand out as Mack ripped the sixpack open, chucking everyone a can
each. Suzie started up the Torana and they sped off, destination,
the Moon and Rabbit Hotel.
DC Collins stood at the doorway, watching the Torana
disappear. Another Sailorsheila had slipped through his fingers.
He'd been trying to lock up the band of pissant vigilante's for a
good three years now, but failed every time....

Mark:
Aren't you glad I never finished that one, eh? Well, anyways, the
next idea was one where the Senshi went through attacks of
existentialist angst, and decided to run amok on the town.... I
never got that far, though....

COME SWEET DEATH
by DARK DAY FOR ANIME
Part 1
Pleasure and Entertainment
Makoto returned, her body once more beaten to a pulp. Another
fight. Nobody asked any questions. It was better that way. Makoto
sat alone in her house and wondered where she was heading in her
life and the answer didn't really seem to be anywhere. Not that it
mattered, she still had her life as Sailorjupiter. Maybe.
She leaned back in the vinyl seat and stared at a blank
television screen. She laughed at the semiotic thickness of what
she was seeing. Sometimes watching nothing was more interesting
than watching something. These days, to Makoto, it all amounted to
pretty much the same thing.
"Where were you the day Sailorjupiter had her breakdown"
became something of a catchphrase representing this time, at least
in the future it did. It had a nice ring to it, thought Makoto.
Guess I'll save that one for when the time comes. Right now I need
a drink and I don't have any sitting around me.
Makoto stared at the wall and decided she'd gone stark, raving
mad. Decided was a loose term, really, as she didn't seem to
understand the meaning of the term. The true meaning of the term.
Madness and nervous breakdowns were two separate things altogether,
but to someone who thought as deeply as she had, they tied in
nicely. Not that she didn't think deeply about anything, she was
certainly undergoing the extreme stages of existentialist angst at
the moment, but she had better things to think about.
And so she thought, where am I heading in this world? What is
to become of me? God, what a cliche. Can't I get existentialist
and original at the same time? She clenched her fists and stared at
her arms. The unsullied pink flesh smiled at her. "Hurt me", it
said. Oh, how much that need filled her. I'm too big and too
strong for my own good. I fight because I have no sense of self-
control. I'm the dumbest of all the senshi, the most easily
manipulated. And here I sit, alone once again, this pathetic wreck
of a human being, making fun of my own ineptitude.
Ami had to have been staring out of her bedroom window for a
good three hours without thinking. A book sat in front of her on
the desk and she really didn't feel like reading it. What more did
it have to say that she hadn't already discovered for herself?
She really wanted to smash that window. Just thrust her fist
through the glass and feel the breeze that was rushing by. And the
pain of the cuts the glass would make to her hand and arm. Then she
would really know if she was alive or not.
But she didn't, and she knew she wouldn't. She was "the good
girl" of the senshi. The girl who did nothing wrong. The senshi of
water and ice, a being grounded totally within the mind, rather than
the soul, like Rei. Even the resonance of the names said different
things about them. Ami.... Peaceful, yet with an expectant edge.
Rei, turbulent yet complete. Their names impressed upon them more
than their original meanings. Language was more than merely a
method of communication, it had the capacity to shape the way you
thought, purely by its tone and intonation.
Ami felt tired. Her eyes became heavy as the light outside
began to fade. It was then that she realised she had made herself
so uptight that her entire body was curled up like a dying leaf.
Her legs were wrapped underneath the seat. Her arms were folded
over her chest. Her hands were clenched so violently that her
fingernails were digging into her palms. Her jaw was set tight,
grinding her teeth. Her neck was curled forward over the desk,
making her back and her chest hurt. Slowly, she unravelled
herself and stretched out. Her body cried with relief.
Rei wanted to pray in front of the fire tonight. But for some
reason, she couldn't bring herself to do so. She'd sat in front of
the flame and had begun the opening chant. And words failed her.
There was no joy for her in the calming influence of her religion.
She shivered, despite the flame's warmth. She knew what it was that
she wanted, and it wasn't the joy of religion.
Slowly, she stood, and stepped from the fire room. Yuuichiro
was not around tonight, and that felt strange. To not be watched by
the vagabond whilst going through the motions of prayer was indeed
strange. He'd always derived some kind of pleasure from seeing her
in full flight, but not tonight.
Rei stared down the walkway, to where the house proper began.
Slowly she made her way along. The walkway seemed to stretch into
infinity and perhaps further. She needed... Something. There was
something missing, about her. Tonight.
She felt her limbs going heavy, and she wished for a few
moments that this life be over. And then she wondered why she
wished for that. She had never felt a need to wish for such before.
She put a hand to her head, feeling for a fever. She chuckled to
herself. If I did have a fever, it was unlikely that I would feel
it so easily. She continued along the walkway, which just went
forever and ever and ever and ever....
But it ended. A sliding door to her left, and one to her
right. Time to play pick and choose. Where do you intend to go,
Hino Rei? To your Grandfather on the right, or the bathroom on the
left. The answer was simple. She went left.
Minako chuckled to herself as she placed the dinner on the
kitchen table. Microwaved, of course. Sailor V microwave dinners.
Things were really starting to get out of hand.
Her parents were out. Not that they ever seemed to treat her
with anything resembling the kind of care one expects such people to
extend to a child. Course, they could have been a hell of a lot
worse. She just wished they'd been better. None of the other
senshi really knew much of her family life, and that was just how
she liked it. She'd always felt a certain jealousy at Usagi's
reasonably close-knit family. She'd certainly never had the same.
If she did, she probably wouldn't have met up with the others in the
first place, and remained what she'd always considered herself to
be. The bland outsider.
And, in truth, that was what she was. Despite having been the
first senshi to awaken, despite being a member of the inner senshi,
despite having the mantle of experience on her side, she remained an
outsider. She was always circling Usagi from afar.
With that cheery thought, she sat down and considered the
wonderful product of her culinary endeavours. She closed her eyes
and put a hand to her forehead. Now where was she again? In her
house. In the kitchen, to be precise. Why was she here? Now there
WAS a difficult question. And, by Kami-sama, she was going to work
it out before bedtime. And so she happily began to munch away on
the cardboard that was a mimicry of food.
Still, she thought, I really don't have a lot to worry about.
I have a house. I have a brain. I have looks (DAMN, do I have
looks) and most of all I have time on my side. She chuckled and
almost threw up her meal. She could never fool herself. She
despised herself. It was so easy to do. So much a part of her
inner nature, depressed was not what she was, but who she was. And
it was easy, when you've put on the show of being an easygoing
blond, to hide that terminal aspect of your character from others.
She wondered what they were thinking of her right now.
Makoto wasn't actually thinking anything of Minako. She was
more concerned about how onw operated the new beer dispensing
machines. It had taken her some ten minutes to walk down to the
railway station, the only place she had seen one of these machines.
Eventually, she'd managed to make the machine cough up five cans for
all the change she had in her pocket. And something at the back of
her mind told her that that wasn't going to be nearly enough
tonight.
She'd polished off one by the time she'd left the railway
station. As she stepped from the exit gate of the now-silent
platform, she crushed the can and tossed it into the nearest bin.
There had to be somewhere else where she could buy this stuff. She
just didn't know where. Not anywhere where she was likely to get
away with it, per the licencing act. She was amazed how easy it was
to get the beer from the dispenser without being questioned by the
station rail guard. On second thoughts, maybe she did have a chance
to get what she wanted.
Yeah, that was it. She was big enough and ugly enough to get
away with it. And slowly, she stepped out into the quiet street,
downing another can in the process.
Must be my imagination, she thought, but I can't seem to
remember there being anyone around here. She stretched and loosened
her muscles, tired after a long day's bullshit. Dammit, 17 and
getting old. How she hated the concept of growing up. Course, time
would come where she wouldn't be growing up anymore. Not quickly,
anyway. Usagi would have seen to that. It made her wonder just how
far away her death really was. At this rate, it seemed like a very
long way, indeed. Her temptation to hasten it was growing very
strong of recent. Strong enough to frighten her.
Ami stepped from the doorway and allowed it to close behind
her. She didn't really have any idea of what it was she was going
to do. All she wanted to do was get out of the house. Her mother
wasn't home yet, the almighty conversationalist that she was. Ami
got the feeling that, even if her mother was home, she'd be doing
this. Ami strolled along the garden path, and then into the street
beyond. She needed time to think. Time to be alone. And it was
funny that she had chosen to do this in the most overt of public
places to do so. Perhaps she was a closet exhibitionist?
She strolled down the street with something equalling a
laissez-faire attitude. She was such an uptight little idiot, she
thought, she even had to affect nonchalance.

Dead"....
--------------------------------------------------------------------
EVANGELION - CITADEL OF SILENCE
1 THE CONCEPT OF SELF
Rei didn't know how she arrived at this point. There was very
little that was clear to her at this moment. She'd expected to be
dead. Or maybe not. She didn't expect to currently be sitting on
top of the roof of a building, staring at an eternal labyrinth of
empty city.
No streets, no people, no sound, save for the gentle
hollowness of the wind. Just buildings, interconnected through
passageways of various shapes and forms. Everything from gleaming
skyscrapers to rusting warehouses, this landscape had it all, and
nothing else.
And here she sat, staring at it all as dead as a corpse, atop
one of those buildings. She'd never really been alive when she was
alive, if she was now dead, and there was no certainty of that. Her
stare was one of confusion, not surprisingly, and memories of what
lead her to this place had begun to rush back. So she thought.
Slowly she stood. She'd awoken in this place within the
building below. A large panorama window nearby had a small glass
door that lead into a small gardened courtyard, and from there she
had made her way up the side of the building and onto its cold metal
roof. The sight that fell before her was enough to stop any further
thoughts of exploration of her new environment, and engender
thoughts of how she came to be here in the first place. Of course,
she didn't know how she came to be here as she was supposed to be
dead. That didn't stop her being here, though.
"Alive...." She muttered softly to herself. She lifted her
head as a cool breeze rushed past, blowing through her short cyan
hair. She fingered the hair for a moment and wondered about the
genetics that lead to such a strange colour scheme. She had to have
been an albino, but the soft sunlight didn't seem to be eating away
at her as she expected it would. In fact, it didn't seem to be
causing her any discomfort at all, and she'd been on the roof for
nearly..... She shook her head a moment... Had to have been at
least five hours, although she couldn't be sure. The sun certainly
seemed to have moved from mid-morning to mid-afternoon.
She looked down at her clothes.... Cut-off grey top, string-
tied short navy skirt, long blue and white socks and sneakers. Not
what she thought she would choose to wear. They were on her when
she awoke nonetheless. More like the kinds of things Asuka would
wear, really....
She tried to think of her one-time fellow Eva pilot. The
memories were scattered and disjointed. She thought Asuka may be
dead, but she couldn't be sure. She wasn't dead, why should Asuka
be? Perhaps Asuka was somewhere in this city. And Shinji as well.
And even Gen....
She gritted her teeth, feeling a kind of embitterment.
Perhaps it would be better if she was the only one here. She shook
her head again, trying to clear the thoughts from her mind. She'd
always been alone, not really ever sure if her memories were her own
or from a past life.... Another Rei.
Rei.... She snorted with contempt for the name. It meant
"ghost" or "spirit". She despised the connotations the name gave
her. Non-existent being. Perhaps she didn't really exist. She
thought, yet wasn't real. Merely a concept. In truth, she had
often thought that was all she was. More a concept than a living
human being. And not even a full human at that.
Rei felt her stomach grumble as she stared at the cumulus
clouds, floating gently by. She put a hand to her belly and
swallowed. Better to find something to eat before anything else.
It would make a great starting point in her exploration of this....
This place. She clambered down from the roof into the courtyard. A
quaint fountain trickled gently in the centre and caught her
attention. She stared into the pool below. Small goldfish flitted
through the water and a strange notion enetered her mind that, if
she failed to find food quickly, she at least had a source of
protein here.
Even before she left the fountainside, she wondered what the
goldfish did for food themselves.

Moon on the Wane
by Evil Mokona
Part 1
The criminal had broken into the store at some time past 11pm.
It had been easy, since there wasn't much in the way of security.
Breaking the window and climbing through into the storeroom took
less than a minute. Switching off the alarm took another minute.
It was a good thing he worked for the security company that provided
the surveillance.
He walked through into the front of the store, which was a
pharmacy. Off to one side was the dispensary area, which he made
for. The drugs and chemicals there were presciption only and could
make a fair price.... It amused him to think of the number of
thieves who would break into pharmacies for the drugs, only to use
them themselves. He kneeled before the cupboard that kept the
prescription drugs.
Just as he broke open the cupboard lock and wrenched the door
open, his skull was smashed in, killing him. He pitched sideways
and quivered for a few seconds, then went still. The figure
standing behind him shook her head, flicking blood and flesh from
her hand.
"Was that really necessary?" Mars scratched her head for a
moment, looking a tad tired. Jupiter turned to her as she grabbed a
cloth from the counter above the cupboard to wipe off the remains.
"Hmm.... Just thought I'd settle things quickly."
"That you did." Mars sniffed with disinterest. "So what's
this place got in its store? Anything worth using?"
Jupiter reached in to the cupboard and pulled out several
containers and canisters. "Morphine, pure Doxylamine Succinate,
pure Codeine Phosphate, Epilem, the usual shit...." Jupiter looked
from the cupboard back to Mars. Mars shrugged.
"Take some of the good stuff. I'm in the mood for it."

SAILORHUNTER
by EVIL MOKONA
Must've been the 4th March when I bagged my 4th senshi. Kind
of a synergy there, wouldn't you say? Wasn't easy to do. Poor
little kid, still young, but its a job, y'know?
Was following a lead of senshi activity in Rio when I spotted
this senshi chick "punishing" some poor petty crim mug in the
backstreets. I'd detected senshi energy and had followed the scent
all the way from my hotel, see. Its not hard to do, but often the
lead is pretty cold by the time you get there. This time I was
lucky. She'd just knocked the guy unconcious and was about ta call
the cops when I arrived on the scene. She panicked and tried to
make an escape over the top of the buildings there. No good, I know
well the trick of leaping onto buildings like that. I chased the
chick for about three miles before I was able to collar her. The
collar's pretty good fer stopping senshi. Just pull it outta the
pocket and chuck it in their general direction. Homes in for the
throat and around it goes.... The benefit of the colar is that it
saps the senshi of their powers and begins ta throttle them. She
went down in an instant, falling off the roof of the building and
into an alleyway. I killed her there. bullet through the skull as
she sprawled over the ground, tugging at the collar. In a few
moments I retrieved the collar and her tiara. I stared at it for
several moments.... SailorAntares.... I shook my head.
According to the records, SailorAntares real name was Isobel
Merinde... A native senshi to Brazil, and relatively new to the
position. I felt a twinge of sadness at what I had to do. Even
moreso, knowing that she would merely be replaced by another
SailorAntares down the line. Her life was wasted for a few moments
of power and glory. Its a shame, but its a job.
I've forgotten to introduce myself. Edwin C. Bresslaw,
official UN Sailorhunter. Its my job to hunt down and kill
Sailorsenshi. The reasons are not entirely clear, but everyone
outside the borders of the newly founded kingdom of Crystal Tokyo
feel a sense of vague threat at its existence. Certainly, the world
powerbrokers did. Thats why the UN passed the motion to ban
sailorsenshi beyond the confines of Crystal Tokyo.

Mark:
The following is a segment of "Usagi is Dead" that I wrote before
this particular scene was required.... It was a statement of self
by the character of Naiad Keth Drutein....
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Naru stood in the gymnasium, staring down at Ami's body. All
of this for nothing, she thought. All the mindgames she had both
subjected and been subjected to were all for nought. Ami had chosen
to die in this reality of the mind, and that was that.
Only it was more than that. Ami had been a friend. Not a
tremendously close one, Ami had always been aloof and difficult to
get through to, but they had been friends. And Naru had never
really experienced losing someone this close before.
There had been Nephrite, of course. But the relationship she
shared with him was very different.... Shorter, more emotional, and
exceptionally draining on her reserves.
But because of its brevity, she found herself recovering
reasonably fast. It had been about that time that Guri-chan had
first made his moves on her. And despite his outward appearance and
manner, he had proven to be very different on a personal level. And
in other ways, but she didn't talk about that with anyone else.
Her inner heart had been healed over, and she'd managed to get
on with life reasonably well. Although, for some reason, she found
herself having to double check her memories about Nephrite. Setsuna
had told her there had been a momentary time jump, caused by Usagi,
after the defeat of Beryl. Usagi had wanted things as if there had
never been a threat in the first place, in which case Beryl and her
four Generals should never have arisen from their slumber.
"Deep in thought?" Said a voice from behind her. Naru
turned, no longer the 17 year old high school girl, but a 25 year
old monarch, dressed in her full regalia.... Her brown hair tied
up in crystal ribbons, her forhead hidden under a diamond encrusted
gold headband. From her ears hung multiple rings, and a gold chain
ran from the left side of her nose to her left ear. Over the silken
dress she wore as Queen was a giant gold and silver robe. Broad-
shouldered, it fell like a curtain to the floor, disguising her true
body size, giving her a much more physical presence.
"I'm thinking of the dead." She replied to Naiad's question.
Naiad was similarly adorned to Naru, now seemingly accepting fully
the role of Tranquility. She wore her brilliant blue hair up high,
like a mane, tied by a single turquoise ring. The hair cascaded
fully down her back. Around her forehead she wore a similar
headband to Tranquility's, and a similar number of earrings. Her
miko robe was a deep blue with light and metallic blue trimmings,
also broad-shouldered.
"Ah yes, the dead." Naiad looked down, sadly. "We failed to
save her, did we not/"
"She chose her fate." Tranquility replied, turning to the
fading corpse momentarily. "Her soul will rejoin the waiting list
for those to be reborn."
"It doesn't change the fact that she is now dead. But then,
as the old voudoun saying goes, the living are but the dead on
holiday. We shouldn't mourn what will, ultimately, return to us."
"I mourn her passing. Whether she be Mizuno Ami or Miest
Kiele, she deserved better than what she reveived."
"Even after plotting to have Usagi killed?"
"Were you here, when that Usagi appeared. She apologised, for
everything that had happened, and Usagi accepted." Tranquility went
silent when Naiad shrugged. For a few uncomfortable moments, there
was silence between them.
"We do not have much time, and now that we are truly alone, I
will ask you this question, and I do not expect answers that take
the form of questions. You will answer as clearly and succinctly as
you can. Naiad, just what is it you're trying to achieve through
all this?"
"Is this question from Naru or Tranquility?"
"No questions! Just answers!" That was more than enough of
an answer for Naiad.
"Why did I manipulate the city to find our universe? Why did
I have the senshi kill Usagi? Why did I have Jadeite give the Usagi
spirit a new body? To make people take notice of me. To show them
I am here, this is what I can do." Naiad sighed. "All I have ever
wanted, throughout my existences, was recognition for my
achievements. But I never received any from all of those who have
been closest to me, or my peers. Throughout many lives, I was
ignored, made to look a fool amongst them all. And so, in the end,
I gave up trying to please others, and concentrated on satisfying my
own needs, be they spiritual, physical or psychological. But even
after all that, I found what I wanted the most was pure,
unadulterated recognition."
"And so you created a situation that has placed the lives of
others in danger?"
"I created such a situation because I knew nobody else could,
or would. Not Galaxia, not any of the monarchs, not any of the senshi,
and very very very few of the miko." Naiad chuckled. "You
may think me evil for having done it, but believe me, what comes
around goes around.... The Moon Kingdom of the Sol System was never
meant to resurrect during this generation. If all of you were to
die now, you would be reborn at a time when the world needs a strong
unifying and creative force. You shall provide that force, and only
then will Crystal Tokyo come into being. The intervening years will
be like dust underneath our feet."
"But it shall cost the lives of so many. How can you live
with that kind of guilt?"
"I don't know if I ever will live. Not after this. In the
end, I feel my time of existence has come to an end. I have learnt
all there is to learn here, and I must move on to the next plane of
being."
"But through killing them, none of the others will be able to
learn what you have learnt, to make that ascension themselves."
"They will, in time. When I began my journey, I, too, was the
victinm of the actions of others. My inexperiences cost me several
lives."

Mark:
And here is the prototype opening to the first chapter of "Usagi is
Dead".... This version was, ultimately, scrapped for the version
that was finally written.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
It all began the day Usagi died. She wasn't expecting to die
that day, of course, nobody expects to die when they get out of bed
one morning feeling happy and in perfect health. What she didn't
expect was someone with a grudge against her (she didn't know what)
to hatchet her in an extremely violent manner shortly after lunch.
One moment she was verbally jousting with Naru, Makoto and Ami
in the schoolyard on their was back to class, the next she was lying
on the asphalt of the courtyard with the majority of her chest's
contents lying about her.
With her standing over her body.

"Ano.... Mako-chan?" Usagi tried to tap Makoto on the
shoulder. well, it wasn't to successful. Her hand went clear
through Makoto's shoulder. That, and the fact that her body was
lying on the ground with the majority of her chest missing started
to seed a little idea in her mind that she might just be dead.
"Ano.... You don't have to cry quite that much....." Makoto
was bawling, holding Usagi's corpse, and making a dreadful mess on
her uniform. Usagi looked around. Naru and Ami were unconcious,
lying on the ground beside Makoto and the stiff. A small, slightly
horrified, occasionally amused crowd had gathered, and there were a
couple of teachers barging their way towards the scene. Late as
usual, typical.
Well, Usagi thought to herself, looks like I'm dead now. What
a bitch. Usagi scratched her head. Well, at least I have the
ability to touch myself, she thought. Then she thought again...
The suggestive capacity for the first-person phrase never failed to
boggle her mind.
Usagi watched as the teachers cleared the crowd from the
scene. Unsurprisingly, they were unable to remove Makoto's grip on
the corpse. The tall girl's strength was comparable to the average
whale wrestler when she wasn't at her peak. Both Naru and Ami had
not come round, and Usagi watched worriedly as blood ran from Naru's
nose and mouth. Internal injuries, she thought. Maybe Naru is
standing around, watching this too.... Or soon will be.... Ami had
blood running from one side of her head, and one of her legs was
twisted at a strange angle.
Usagi shivered. If they weren't dead too, then that was going
to hurt for a long time.... One of the teachers... Kouno-sensei,
attempted to move their bodies to a more comfortable position, but
the headmaster stopped him. Usagi wondered why, but concluded that
he was worried that moving them might exacerbate their injuries.
Eventually, an ambulance arrived. The crowd of students was
parted and the medics started to deal with the girls. Almost
immediately, they discounted Usagi as saveable, and began to work on
Ami, then Naru. Cracked skull for Ami, possible intracranial
hemhorrage, broken and dislocated left leg. Possible massive
internal bleeding for Naru, compound broken ribcage and pierced
lungs. Whatever had hit her, like Usagi, had hit her full in the
chest, but for some reason not with the same force.
Eventually, the medics tended to Makoto, now in shock. Usagi
finally noticed that she, too was injured. Part of her side was
slashed and ripped like paper. Usagi was surprised by how cool her
diagnosis had been. Under ordinary circumstances, she would have
been ridding herself of the contents of her stomach, if she was
alive. But she didn't have a body. No stomach to empty. No
feeling of queasiness because there was nothing to be queasy with.
Slowly, Makoto succumbed to her blood loss and let go of the
corpse. The medics carried her away on a stretcher. Eventually,
some people in uniform arrived, accompanied by others in suits and
such. Police, Usagi thought. She watched in silence, not that they
would have heard her had she actually said something. The entire
area was cordoned off and they began to scour the area for any clues
as to what had happened here.
Usagi was also in like mind. Sure, she was dead, but she
din't know how, or why. Whatever it was that struck her had enough
force to remove the entire chest cavity. She thought back.... She
was in front of the group, and Naru was behind her, with Ami and
Makoto on either side. Then, WHAM! She was dead. Of course! The
force, whatever it was, passed through her and hit Naru, but she had
taken the full brunt. The impact on Naru would have been only a
fraction. Fragmenting of the force wave would have seen it shoot
off to the side, striking Ami and Makoto. Its all so clear now.
Course, for the poor dumb suck cops, it'd never be clear.
Very few of them had had experience in the methods and powers of
those who followed the ways of Metallia. She was surmising, of
course, that this was an attack by some form of Youma or such.
Whatever the case, she was dead and there wasn't a lot that she
could do about it.
Before she knew what was happening, the group of police
investigators had dwindled and her body had been taken away. It was
getting dark, but those few that were left had the place of her
demise illuminated like some kind of bizarre shrine. All that was
left of what had happened were the bloodstains on the ground, where
the four had fallen. She was now sitting on a small wall nearby,
watching everything impassively, considering her next move.
Occasionally she took a look in the sky in case some blue-haired
girl in a kimono, riding a paddle, decided to float down and drag
her off to the other world. No such luck. Obviously she was meant
to walk the Earth for a while. How depressing, having to wander
around, unable to eat anything. Not that she felt hungry. She
chuckled to herself, she was never going to be hungry again.
And so, she upped and walked away.
She'd wandered the streets for.... She didn't know how
long.... Must have been hours. it was still dark, around midnight
now. The world seemed strangely beautiful, though.
She'd never liked wandering around after hours. Even as
Sailormoon, she found the shadows to be scary places to be around.
Now all the shadows seemed to glow with an iridescence. Glowing
darkness matching the pale, wan lights of the city. It was like a
wonderland. Her own private wonderland.... She thought of all the
times she had spent alive. All the friends she'd made, all the
things she'd done. She wanted to cry now, but no tears would come.
No eyeducts. No eyes.

For my own part, I never believed that it was possible to
feel this way about a group of people I had spent much of my
preceding few years getting to know. Intimately, to a degree.
Since the affair with Galaxia, and my third subsequent brush
with death, I had begun to feel somewhat impotent. So many of my
friends were surpassing me in almost every manner... In terms of
regaining lost memories, regaining lost powers and attacks, and in
the sphere of socialising and the intellect.
There were times when I really did feel I was being forgotten.
This wasn't really the case, of course, but it did seem, at times,
that I had begun to circle a very distant orbit around the centre
of our little senshi party.
Or perhaps I was beginning to understand the kind of
distancing the Johnny-come-latelies felt when they joined our group.
Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna... Even Hotaru, felt uncomfortable with
the close-knit style of relationships we had developed over some
time.
Or maybe it was age, mellowing me, and the others as well.
Those moments where we could be carefree were fading, being replaced
by a strangely contemptuous veil. The spontaneity had gone, things
were becoming more serious, more settled. Perhaps this was what
adulthood truly meant.
No, that wasn't it. The others barely seemed to change.
Their personalities had become ingrained into the very ways they
lived their lives. As had mine. And that was my downfall, always
had been. I lacked the self control of Ami, the sense of purpose
of Rei, the carefree attitude of Minako or the emotionality of
Usagi. It left me a middling figure, seemingly unable to truly make
decisions for myself, despite my best efforts.
Being without parents had left me emotionally vulnerable.
Unlike the others, I had never known the comforts of living with
someone I could call family. Not that I didn't have a family...
Cousins, in-laws etcetera... Most of my affairs had been looked
after by an Aunt of mine. Its just that I was never particularly
close to any of them.
I wanted to be. I tried in the early days after the death of
my parents to become attached to someone. But none of them were
willing to open their hearts to me. And so I withdrew. Until Usagi
came along and dragged me out of my shell. Somewhat.
Now I find myself disappearing back inside that shell, and I
don't know why. Scary thoughts had started to enter my mind.
Fancies that have no meaning to the real world. And there they
should have remained, in the realms of fantasy. That they didn't
shall remain, forever, my shame.

"A Failing of Destiny" was a tale of Usagi's grief (or lack of it)
over the death of her childhood friend, Naru, after they had drifted
apart....
--------------------------------------------------------------------
A FAILING OF DESTINY
by DDFA (MARK A PAGE)
Usagi knelt in front of the grave, a curiously griefless
expression on her face. This had happened too often, just lately,
and the wellspring of her tears had long since dried up.
She was forty, now. A mother of two, looking down at the
grave of an old friend. She'd only heard about her passing a good
month after the funeral. So much time had passed since they'd seen
each other, her family had forgotten to invite her. That was fine
by Usagi. She wasn't in the mood for the kind of emotional
hysterics that came with such events.
There had been a time when she had described Naru as her best
friend. Naru had been a childhood friend, certainly, and their
relationship, as immature as it had been, managed to survive the
normal ups and downs such relationsips go through. But it didn't
survive Usagi becoming a sailorsenshi.
With passing time, their relationship simply faded away, until
there was nothing left for them to share. She didn't know if Naru
and Umino ever made it as a couple. The few times she'd bumped into
Naru, the woman appeared more and more like a stranger, revealing
little of her private life.
In the end, she stopped "bumping" into her. Naru had moved to
another district within Tokyo, away from where she had been raised.
The last time Usagi had seen her was on a railway platform. They
were standing on the opposite sides of the track, waiting for
different trains. Naru nodded to her, and she nodded back. Naru's
train then arrived, and she disappeared from Usagi's life.
Forever.
Usagi touched the gravestone, solemnly. It had been under the
wheels of a train that she had met her end. Although the family had
been reticent about admitting to the fact that she may have
suicided. Whatever reasons she may have had for doing it, it was
lost to Usagi. She would never know, never have the opportunity to
find out.... And any reason for her to know, or have a desire to
know, died when she became Sailormoon.
It seemed strange, though. The one person who seemed to need
her the most when she began her time as a sailorsenshi had been
Naru. Usagi should have exercised some proprietorial interest in
the path the girl's life would take. But she didn't. It made Usagi
feel a sense of dereliction of duty. Of guilt, rather than grief.
She sighed, ashamed with the analytical attitude she was
taking with this strange turning point in her life. She was
entering middle age, even though she didn't look it, and had two
children to raise, now that her husband was dead.
So were many of the senshi. Their battles eventually taking
a heavy toll. Only Ami and Setsuna were left. Having endured the
lonely funeral to Mako-chan last year, the silence of the graveyard
was not unfamiliar, but it was still disquieting.
She looked around. Every headstone, a life. Every headstone,
the end of the emotions, fears, loves and desires of an individual.
No wonder people believed in ghosts. It was easier than to believe
in the silence that came with the end of a life.
So many people to cry for here, and she felt nothing. What
had happened to her throughout all those years. Had the fighting,
the killing and the recurrent sadnesses destroyed her of her spirit?
Or was it just age adding a meek acceptance to the brevity of life?

====================================================================
In the dark corners of your mind, they exist.
Neurons.
Lots of them.
They take over your head and force you to think for yourself,
often against your will.
Fear them, for they are coming to get you, Aino Minako!
====================================================================
Minako screamed as she sat up in bed. Horrible. What a
horrible dream.... It wasn't possible, surely... She put her hands
to her head and pulled down the long strands of hair.
Thank Kami, they were STILL blond. She didn't have a brain,
yet! She let go of her hair and laid back, giggling at her
sillyness. Of course she couldn't have a brain. NO Sailorsenshi
had a brain. They were giggling, inane schoolgirls. Although she
did worry about Ami, sometimes.
Besides, against some of the enemies they'd faced, having a
brain to think things through, logically, was a definite no-no. Of
course, the older they got, the more likely it was that they'd
develop an intracranial growth....
Minako sighed, trying to put the concept out of her mind....
Urk! She'd just used the term, mind! This was getting scary.

SAILORMOON
DEVIL DOLL DELUXE
by DARK DAY FOR ANIME
Part One
The Succulent Blackness
It took at least two minutes for Minako to find the keys to
the small office. It took another full minute to find the keyhole
and she began to worry, in this time, that the stories the others
were telling about her being blond were being borne out.
The glass door swung open and around, clanging back against
the window and momentarily making Minako cringe. She didn't want
anyone seeing her whilst she did this, and her making loud noises
reminded her very sharply of this fact. Slowly, she picked up the
largeish briefcase that sat beside her legs when she began her
search for the keys, and walked inside.
After putting the case down and closing the door, Minako
surveyed the office. In truth, a converted shop, it fronted an
accessway between a food court and a department store. Poor
planning had seen the accessway, too small and hidden for the kind
of through-traffic required, as the frontage for four small shops.
Only once were any of the shops leased, and that business failed,
despite being closer to the food court than this one. And so the
owners of the shops decided to convert them into storerooms and
offices.
This was one of the offices. And Minako was the first person
to step into it other than its original builders and fitters. It
was a fittingly dark little den, at least in what used to be its
"display" area. The little room had darkly-coloured wallpaper,
brown and dark grey, no less, lining its three walls, with a thin
obscuring curtain covering the frontage window and door. A doorway
in the middle of the rear wall lead to a small kitchenette, which
was decorated in the most glorious light, pastel green. Minako
almost threw up. At least in there was a large, open window to let
the light in.
In the middle of the front room was a table, on which sat a
junction box, with wires running away in all directions across the
floor. These disappeared into the wall. Minako picked up the
briefcase and carried it over to the table.
She opened it and began to take out all kinds of gadgetry. It
had only been shown to her in the previous week or so, since she
drew the short straw, how to set up this equipment and use it. She
had to have been born under a bad sign to get this job. The others
had all the fun.
She'd fully expected the table with the junction box to be
there. Setsuna said it would be. She wondered if Setsuna owned
this office. She wondered if Setsuna owned the building. Sometimes
the mysterious outer senshi had the capacity to set up the most
grand schemes to achieve the smallest goals. Almost like she knew
what to prepare for. Of course, Minako reminded herself, she DID
know what to prepare for. Everything Minako was living through was
already history to her, even if Setsuna was yet to experience it.
Minako spent close to half an hour completing the setup,
plugging various power cables into walls and such, whilst connecting
the gadgetry together. Then the moment of truth. After lifting up
the screen of a small laptop, which was to be used to control all of
this, she switched it on.
And it worked.
Which she was immensely proud of. The last time she did this
the whole lot went up in flames. Setsuna had replacement equipment
ready for her. Just the right number of replacements, too. Minako
took a deep breath and began waited as the laptop's systems started
up.
"Crystows 95. Cute." Minako sniggered as a crystal windows
logo appeared. "Copyright the 95th year of Crystal Tokyo. Are we
over the top with our copyright laws, even then?" Minako sniffed.
She really couldn't see the point. After all, they owned everything
then, anyway. Well, most of everything.

Lyin' Awake in Bed
by DARK DAY FOR ANIME
Sleep wasn't going to come to the senshi of Jupiter tonight,
she could see it now. She was exhausted, having been involved
with the training of a new regiment of senshi, more loyal, faithful
troops to add to the new kingdom's little collection. Soon, Crystal
Tokyo was going to be a new world power... But, quite honestly, she
couldn't have given a stuff, because she was tired as hell, had a
long day ahead of her tomorrow, and she couldn't get a dot of sleep.
She had tangled up her bedclothes for the squillionth time,
and was growing impatient with the mill refusing to wind back
operations. Every five minutes she was getting up, walking around
the room, taking a look at the pretty shadows, and then hopping back
into bed. The process had become so painfully repetetive that she
almost began to look forward to it.
She tried to think of why she was having such a problem, and
there really didn't seem to be a reason. She huffed and turned.
Perhaps she hated the decor. She had ALWAYS hated the decor. She
wasn't into the fancy, anaemic style of interior designs that had
been all the rage in Crystal Tokyo upon the capital's construction.
She was a more down to earth sort. Much of what Crystal Tokyo had
become was a facade of overt presumptuousness. A kind of opulent
arrogance that many thinkers of the time had mentioned. She didn't
understand what they meant, then.... but it was becoming clear to
her now.
Nah, it wasn't anything so simple as that. The colours of the
curtains, the decorations on the ceiling, the soft, pastel tones on
the floor and walls.... Actually, the more she thought about it,
the more they succeeded in annoying her! Maybe that WAS a factor in
her dissatisfaction with life as it was leading. She had always
been the lonely one amongst the senshi. When growing up, all the
others had had someone to latch on to. Or was that just her trying
to make excuses for the way she felt....

The End of Her Terrible Joy

Sailormoon fanfics are a rip-off of something created by Takeuchi
Naoko, to whit both Bandai and Kodansya have a high stakehold. I
think DiC is in there, too, so I'm making a mention now. Please
don't sue me for this... I'm only a poor little descendant of
convicts. (In Adelaide, South Australia? *SNORT*)
----o
Rei chuckled as she smashed the doors of her bedroom. Their
reasonably fragile frames splintering easily in her rage.
She collapsed on the floor and stared at the ceiling. Oh,
how she would love to burn this place. Burn it all and just up and
leave. It would be so easy to do. Nobody seemed to like her in
this part of town... At least, nobody who mattered.
Even those she had called friends were starting to look at
her, strangely.... She shook her head. They just couldn't see.
They just couldn't SEE. It was a higher truth that she understood.
Years of religious teaching, drilled into her. She giggled inanely.
Oh well, she shouldn't have expected anyone to understand.
She sat up and rubbed her face in her hands. She was smiling.
She didn't know why, but the smile was kind of fitting. As inane as
the giggling that just wouldn't stop.
And then it did, and she just looked straight out of the
doorway, into the trees. They rustled in the wind. Damn them.
She'll burn them, too, on her way out.
So she stood, and resumed the annhialation of her bedroom.
----o
Slowly, Rei wandered along the walkway. Her hands and feet
were cut and bloodied. She'd been well chastised for her crimes
against church and state. Now it was time to make amends. She
stared into the Fire Room, and noticed that it had burnt out. Oh
well, better luck next time. All passengers who wish to alight at
the next station, please move towards the doors. Please move
towards the doors, thankyou.
She slid along the walkway, further into the shrine temple.
Gotta be something around here to do, she thought to herself. How
about a spot of Koi fishing.... They had a pond, somewhere. There
was certain to be some of the elusive fish in there. How to do it,
though?
She hit upon a brilliant plan.
"Mars Planet Power, MAKE UP!"
Bwahahahahahahaha! Burn em up, burn em down! Flamey Flamey,
hands off Rei-my.
She padded over to the pond and stared down at the fish that
scattered to and fro from her presence. Must have been the red. Was
she bleeding? Was her fuku coloured in the blood of her victims?
She leered as she knelt down beside the pond and beckoned with her
fingers.
"Come here little fishy. I wanna see what you look like,
fried, hasslebacked and sashimied... Come to me, little fisheeeee!"
Her face twisted. No demands, no demands, just results. Come
on YOU EFFING AQUATIC FREAKS! She stood and began to blast the pond
with blots of flame. Water bubbled and frothed with each strike.
----o
Yuuichirou ran into the shrine grounds and stood in sickened
horror at the state of the guest room. Usagi, Mamoru and Makoto
followed him in and stood in disbelief at what confronted them.
"What the hell is she doing? What's happened to her?" Makoto
ran up to the utterly trashed guest room. "She's absolutely lost
it. There's blood all over the place."
"She's got to have hurt herself badly." Mamoru grabbed
Yuuichirou by the shoulder. "When did this start?"
"She was in the fire room, praying. Ojisan told me to check
on her, cos she gets real worked up sometimes when she goes into her
chants. Three weeks ago, she almost set her hair alight, she got so
close to the thing."
"So what happened?"
"She wasn't in there, and there were crashing and banging
sounds coming from the guest house. Well, you can see what happened
here."
"B..but why? She was acting normally when I saw her earlier
today...." Usagi put a hand to her mouth, on the verge of tears.
"Posession. Something has to have taken over her mind, or, at
the very least, her will." Yuuichirou looked back at Mamoru and
Usagi. "If there is anything I have learnt in my time as an acolyte
here, it is that the spiritual world is full of beings who are more
insane than one can even vaguely grasp or understand. They wait for
someone to open up their mind, bear open their soul, so they can
enter this world and cause chaos in unbelievable ways."
"And one has taken over someone with the powers of a
Sailorsenshi...." Mamoru whispered to Usagi, grimly. "Who better
to cause the MAXIMUM amount of chaos?"
Usagi shivered. Yuuichirou turned to them. "What? Did you
say something?"
Mamoru and Usagi sweatdropped.
"No..."
"Nothing at all."
"Oh... Alright, then..." Yuuichirou scratched his nose.

In Silence We Find Madness
by DARK DAY FOR ANIME
Sailormoon and all appropriate characters and situations are the
property of Takeuchi Naoko, Bandai and Kodansya... And whomsoever
else wishes to jump up and claim credit. I do not own these
characters. I merely use them in dark and visceral manners to
which they were not intended.
She lay alone. Well, she was alone, now. It hurt, a lot,
and she wasn't expecting that.
She moved her hand to her face and sniffed the blood. It
was no longer fresh, merely sticky, and growing dark. if it meant
she was no longer bleeding like she used to, then all well and good.
She might even survive this night.
She tried to move, but that merely hurt, and so she stopped
and listened, hoping she could hear something... Someone...
The sound of the traffic was out there. And of people. But
they sounded like echoes, ghosts.... And all she was left with was
a silence that would not answer her cries for help. It hadn't
answered their death screams, she didn't see why things should
change, now.
One never knows when destiny is going to come a knocking on
your door. You travel along your path, never expecting it to divert
in dramatic and unpredictable ways. And then, suddenly, wham!
You're knocked for six with a king hit followed by a double overhead
half nelson.
That could roughly explain how Hotaru felt right now.
She reached out for the Glaive, but it was just beyond her
fingers. She was so small, so short.... She hated it. She had
always wished to be a more impressive figure, and indeed, she had
grown somewhat over the last couple of years... A late bloomer,
catching up on everyone else. She wondered if she would get any
bigger, now....
She looked to her left. Venus lay there. She thought she
could hear her whimpering about an hour ago, but now she was still
and silent. On the other side of Venus lay Jupiter. She didn't
hear anything from her.
She turned to her right. There, almost upon her, was Pluto.
She'd tried to protect her, without much success, and had been
gutted for her trouble. She had been still and silent from the
moment she fell. Hotaru was glad her face had been turned away.
Just over the other side of Pluto was Uranus, and near her
Mercury. Because Pluto had fallen so close to her, all she could
see was the colour of their fukus. She didn't know if they were
in a similar state as her.
The others.... Sailormoon, Mars and Neptune, were somewhere
ahead of her. She had trouble seeing them.

HATE AND HATE AGAIN
by Evil Mokona
Sailormoon and all characters within are the creation of a woman in
Japan, wherever she may be. Please don't sue me over this, as I
have absolutely no desire to shed myself of capital, not that I have
much to begin with....
It didn't really make much difference whether or not she was
dying. All she knew was that she was lying half naked on a floor
somewhere, bleeding copious amounts of red. She reached up above
her right temple and winced as she touched.... She withdrew her
hand and found blood there. She tried to move, but it was no use.
Coughing and spluttering, she accepted the situation and relaxed,
waiting for death. The problem was, it wasn't coming. The pain and
dizziness remained pain and dizziness without so much as an effort
to die away, and she realized that things were going to be rather
more complicated than she thought. And the most complicated things
on her mind at this time, as opposed to the reception of a great
deal of pain, which was fairly simple, was who the hell she was,
what the hell was she doing here and why in hell was she lying on
the floor with several, large wounds to her head, neck, arms and
chest.
"Rather existentialist questions, those..." She murmured to
herself. There was no reaction to her quiet exclamation around
her.... Obviously whoever had done this to her had cleared off.
That was, of course, excluding the possibility that she had had an
accident, but considering the wounds and the way they were
distributed, that wasn't very likely.
eventually, she managed to raise herself into a half-seated
position. She stared blearily around for several moments, trying to
take in her surroundings. The room around her was large.... Rather
like an empty conference room. White walls surrounded three sides
of the room, whilst the fourth was lined with large windows, out of
which she could see very little except grey skies. The floor was
covered in a white carpet, the same colour as the walls, but pitted
with those brown specks that carpet designers mistake for
characterful aesthetics. She stared down at the soiled carpet
around her, underlining her state of mind by wondering whether she
was going to be in trouble for making such a mess. She checked
herself... It was more likely that if anyone found her, they'd be
more worried about the state of her than the state of the carpet.
That is, unless, of course, the first person to find her was the
person who had done this to her.
She knew she must have been stuck in that position for a
while, because the next thing she knew, when she properly regained
her senses after another dizzy spell, the light from outside the
windows had considerably darkened, and she could see streetlamps.
She didn't know how long she had been there, but it became obvious
that nobody was going to find her soon. Although she found it
strange that the lights were on in the room.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Please tell me what you think of these. I'll produce another
"trashcan", one day.... But for the time being, cheers. ^_^
