DEAD HORSES IN RANMA & SAILOR MOON FANFIC
			compiled by Scott K. Jamison
				Edition One

The two "deadest" horses in fanfiction in one story... Am I lucky or
what? ;)

Thus this list, which hopes to cover the most commonly overused
themes and scenes, not to forbid their reuse, but to let the beginning
writer know what has already been done, and done well.

<nodnod> I agree about the "beginning writer" bit. It's reading too
many Ranma/SM crossovers that prompted me to write Lines Of Destiny. I
thought it would flop but hey, look where I am now: nearly 40 000 hits in
16 months on the LoD webpage and it's only my second fic, too!

Many thanks go to Jorge Pratt who gave me the first kick in the butt I
needed to start writing my own stories!

			RANMA/SAILOR MOON CROSSOVERS

Ranma Becomes A Sailor Senshi
Best Treatment: _Lines of Destiny_ by Louis-Phillipe Giroux.

	"Just the overall treatment."--Luigi Mattera
"Instead of Ranma just blindly jumping in and accepting, with
only a minor complaint about skirt length, we get to see Ranma really
worrying about a potential to lose his masculinity, since his female side
has become so much stronger than his male one."--Christian A. Rogers

Yay! An award! I'm glad people like the way LoD is going, and I can
tell you already that it's going to get worse.

   For me, I mean.

You see, when I started LoD, I swore to myself I wouldn't do
psychological drama. Look at what I did with chapter 10. <sigh> In
chapter 11, things are going to go in different patterns and I don't know
if people will like some of the stuff I'm going to write.

Oh well, maybe I should just be happy that I've managed to please so
many people for so long.

			BISHOUJO SENSHI SAILOR MOON

New Senshi
Best Treatment: _Lines of Destiny_ by Louis-Phillipe Giroux

"Oh sure, Sailor Dirt is inherently lame, but the conflict of
Ranma having to accept his previous female incarnation is worth looking
at."--David Johnston

Another one?! Gee, now _this_ is ego food! (Would you people believe
me if I told you that in the end, it was the flip of a coin that decided
that Terra would be Ranma instead of Akane?)

Setsuna is Manipulative and Will Do *Anything* to Advance the Path
Best Treatment: _Secrets_ by Ken Wolfe

"While Setsuna's manipulations are horrifying in their results,
she is not depicted as omnipotent or omniscient; the author manages to
make her seem very human, despite everything."--Chris Davies

<NODNODNODNOD> Hai! This one I readily agree with! That fic is one of
the best I've ever read - not only because of Setsuna's portayal, but
because it gave a plausible explanation in regards to the creation of the
Crystal Palace and the infamous "Ice Age" that is supposed to plague the
Earth someday in SM continuity (although "Under a Cloud" by... Lawson, I
think? also gave a good theory for the Ice Age).

In fact, Wolfe's portrayal of the "End Of The World" is so masterful
that it's been giving me ungodly ideas for LoD. Well, that and my utter
inability to write a steady outline for LoD. I almost always write it as I
go along (at least I'm not the only one who does that, IIRC). You wouldn't
believe some of the ideas I'm toying with right now...

I'd like to thank everyone who contributed, and congratulations
to those authors whose works were chosen as examples.

And a big thanks for all the people out there who like LoD!

And *yes*, I will be relocating my Web site soon! I will post the
address on the list as soon a the move is complete.
