Hrrrm. Well, if you're not going to AN and you happen
to be reading this, then I suggest you skip to the end section.
As my excuse for so many things (or lack thereof) seems
to be over the last four months, I suppose I'm going to blame
work, as well as strange sleeping patterns (which result from
work, actually) for this one.
So, you're going to Anime North, are you? Probably going to
get hungry while you're there, aren't you? Might be a good idea to
get food while you're there. Yet you want to meet people there,
don't you? Fellow authors, perhaps, or maybe even other readers.
Someone who can talk about the importance of using themes in
imagery when writing in anime.
Do the two goals sound incompatible? No longer! How's about
we all try and do an FFML Dinner type thingy? Wouldn't that be cool?
Now, thing is, I'm not too familiar with the particular part
of T.O. (Toronto) where it's being held, so I don't really know of
any good restaurants in the immediate area surrounding it. Certain
possibilities arise though, since I (at least) am driving (it's
roughly the same distance from me as work is), and can ferry others.
It would also depend on what we would like to eat (The type of cuisine
that is). Time (heck, _day_ even, although I think Saturday might be
best) and every other detail is up in the air right now, and would
depend on input.
So, what I would like to know is:
a) Are you interested?
b) Do you know of any half-decent places within walking distance?
c) Are you driving (if so, whould you mind driving others/how many
can you fit)?
c) What day/time would you like? (more than one response here is
possible, although it might be an idea to state which one
is most preferable)
Now, I needn't tell you that replies should be sent privately to
me and most definitely not to the list, but I just did anyway.
As for me? Yes, I'm going to AN. Recognise me? Well, I'm the guy your
eyes just want to slide over, not noticing at all....
(okay, I've no clue what I'm going to wear, really. Check for a guy
with short hair wearing a watch on his right wrist. I'll probably
have a... most likely yellow notebook and be writing [on fics even!]
it if I'm not doing anything better)
Anyway, t'was just a thought....
Now, the fic!
{Wow, not even a title, but at least there's some fancy brackets}
Ranma was sweating.
This was it.
The end of his life.
He had faced down hordes of people out for his blood, puissant martial
artists with abilities only hinted about in legend, demons and other
supernatural beings, but none of them compared to this.
There was no escape, no reprieve, no ally to bail him out. His left hand
clenched and unclenched reflexively, rhythmically, a sign of his anxiety.
No way out. Never again would he be able to wander around with his father,
training themselves, perfecting themselves, devoting their lives to
attaining purity in the Art.
That was over. Gone. History. Gone the carefree day, over were the nights
under the stars with the air so crisp and clean you could see to eternity
and back.
Gone. All of it-- in a few seconds.
He could still run now, still make it, time had not totally run out for
Ranma yet. Ranma wouldn't though. It wouldn't be right. Honour was at
stake. There was also her to think about; where would that leave her? No,
he had to accept it, no matter how it made his heart quail and his stomach
turn. The butterflies in his gut would leave soon.
This was it. The end.
"Ranma?"
"Hmm? Oh, yes, I do."
"Then, by the powers vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife. You
may kiss the bride."
And Ranma did.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all.
