For some unusual reason, I'm compelled to say my say...

Aah, another long-dormant series finally gets some well-deserved
life breathed into it!
I found this fic to be pointless. Nothing happens. Nothing interesting
is said. There is no character development. There is no purpose. There
is no direction. The prose aren't all that bad, but their content is so
ho-hum that they can't help but be tedious.
That was the problem I first thought when I began this, oh...about months
ago...
Whenever I see a fic like this, I have to ask what the author is trying
to do with it, because it seems to have absolutely no purpose.
You're expecting a fanfic imaging real-life to have purpose? There is
hardly anything 'great' to write about in real-life, why would this be any
different. Unless of course you're living in a neighborhood that ... more
than meets the eye, I guess.
How to fix it? Give it a premise. Give it a beginning and an end. Give
the characters a problem that must be solved and that will lead to
character growth. Cut out the filler. Insert meaningful dialogue. In
other words, delete everything you've done and start over.
Hmm...I think my Harddisk did that already. But regarding the premise...I
don't really bother those people mailing me...saying/asking questions about
this latest post...asking what I wanted/had intended with the
characters...since that was pointless, coz reading from the beggining was
necessary...imperative, in fact. That's why I know only those that followed,
and is following this series will understand this...I guess.
I'm sorry if I can't come up with something nicer, but I call them like
I see them. This fic is irredeemably Bad--I don't particularly get
enjoyment out of saying that, but I won't lie to you.
No problem...but Brent is right, critique of this magnitude/impact doesn't
really merit my attention, or that of others if knowledge of the whole
series is not within the grasp of the person giving the criticism...
But then again, wonders of wonders why this took such a long...long time to
come out...I guess you already know.
Thanks again.
