Who says a commentator needs to mince words? He has something
to say and he just gets down and says it. I'd rather have this
Guy critique my works, over someone who can't bring himself to
say something negative.
Note, most writers like "constructive" comments. Not ones like "This sucks!
Why don't you just stop writing it!" which is pretty much the giff of
Troll's comments.
The kind that are helpful would be more of "He seems to act a little OOC
here, try having him say something like this..."
he's just another
commentator.
One that many people seem to get mad at...
So here is what you do. You read what he has to say. You
take the parts you agree with and keep in mind the parts you
don't.
But it still comes down to the simple fact that he doesn't contribute
anything other than what he thought, how is that going to make the fic
better? "Oh, he thinks it sucks. Well I better fix it up! Now where to
start..." He just doesn't contribute.
The kind of thing I look for would be suggestions and OOC mistakes pointed
out. He doesn't do that, instead he points out all that faults and leaves
you to figure out what he means.
You also take into account other peoples' opinions
on your writing. Then use what you have found to improve your
fanfic!
But he never says exactly what it is that irks him!
Remember, he's just a commentator. He can't make
you do anything. He can't make you change your fic. All
he can do is try to help you improve your fanfiction. Sure
his words are harsh, but who cares?
Apparently a lot of people since you're the only one so far that has
defended him.
I have a good feeling he's gonna get his durring revengefic season, when
ever that is. :p
