Self-Insertion 'Fics are what got me hooked on fan-fiction in the 
first place.  Undocumented Features lead to Twisted Path to Bubblegum 
Zone (The first eight episodes of which I enjoyed more than the original 
anime!).
     This may be a minority opinion but _I_ think they're extremely fun 
to read.
