Does anyone know what Ukyou, Akane, Akari, Tendo, Unryuu, and Ryouga mean in
Japanese?
thanks!

Ukyou Kuonji: To the right of the capital of eternity. If I'm not mistaken
this means something similar
to always being on the right side of eternity (center) of the buddhist
temple. Thus looking
further, would mean always being on the groom's side of a wedding
ceremony. Her name
is essentially a pun which implies Ranma will always see her as a friend.
I know I'm ranting
way to much here, but let me say that Ukyo is my favorite character
period. I would love
to see her get Ranma, but I know that it was never intended.
Tendo: The laws or ordinances of Heaven. This is a common Japanese last name.
Akane: dark red, crimson, matter. Also the name of a root used for dying
things red. This is a common female name.
Ryoga: Ryo: good, excellent, skillful / Ga: canine teeth, or a tusk Take
your pick on translating
this one.
Unryuu: Un: Luck/fortune. Ryuu: Dragon = Lucky Dragon / Fortune Dragon/
Dragon of Fortune/
etc...
Most of this comes from the Ranma 1/2 FAQ, but I noticed that they put Un
meaning Cloud. According to my dictionary, Kumo is Cloud and Un means
luck[y] or fortune[ate]. I dunno take either I guess.
