aheh. How much Japanese have you studied, for how long? Often times,
literal is never correct when going from oriental to any roman type
language. Case point for dogi.
 

If I'm wrong about any of this, please tell me. The Encycloedia is
pretty bare in the area of oriental dress, and there very well may be
refrences to a 'gi' in Ranma that I haven't seen.

okay, Master Uezu of Okinawa, master of Isshinryu Karate, and most other
practitioners of direct japanese decent refer to it as a gi whenever
I've spoken to them. Most judo schools just call it a gi as well, a few
use a 'uniform' prefix in japanese.

Just a tip; find as many sources as you can, never take one as Bible. If
its pretty bare in clothing references, don't correct someone about
something with a book that has flimsy or even incorrect information
behind you. Pull up some other sources, or surf.
