<<< Begin Part 2/2 >>>
"Mari...." Touji pushed the door open, two floors above from where, on
a TV screen, some rather overdeveloped adolescent females wearing rather
underdeveloped sailor fukus were prodding some youma buttock.
HIKARI: Running gag...
"Oniichan! And Oniichan's girlfriend!"
Hikari blinked. Word, apparently, got around fast.
TOUJI: She can walk? *sniff* I'm so happy...
HIKARI: So am I Touji-kun.
TOUJI: (blush)
KENSUKE: (to himself) I never knew he could blush.
A cute, 10 year old girl wearing a bright pink ribbon in her hair was
sitting up in the hospital room's bed. There was a book on her lap. It
was big.
Touji laughed slightly nervously, just in the right way that irked
Hikari a bit. "Ah, yes, Mari...this is Hikari-chan."
SHINJI: Has anyone noticed that Touji's sister has a different name in
every author's own version?
TOUJI: GAINAX left it open.
"Hello, Mari-chan. The doctors say you're getting much better!" She
didn't notice a sudden shift in the way that Mari's eyes shone.
"I am doing very well, thank you. I am gratified by your concern,"
intoned Mari.
TOUJI: A bit old for her age... But what's to be expected when your
little sister can make you feel like scum...
Hikari would have facefaulted, if not for Touji's hand on her
shoulder. Mari continued talking. "It becomes...tiresome to lie in here
alone for so long." Mari suddenly shook her head a bit. "Oniichan's been
telling me so much about you!" she burbled, gleefully. "And you cook
great, too!"
Hikari started edging towards the door, but again, Touji's hand
restrained her from moving. Touji said, "Ah, yeah...isn't she great?" He
gently elbowed his girlfriend to keep her from saying something off.
HIKARI: That reminds me, I prepared a dinner for us tonight Touji.
TOUJI: Uhh... well... thank you.
"...and she really liked the color purple," said Gendou.
SHINJI: We're back to this now?
"Purple?" asked Shinji.
"Purple," said Gendou. "And green, too."
"Green?"
SHINJI: That's the colour of my EVA.
"Green." And Unit 01 was supposed to be white, and it _was_ white,
until the day after the...accident. Stupid paint jobs never stayed on,
either. I hate purple.
SHINJI: That would explain the earlier artwork.
"G'bye, Oniichan! G'bye, Hikari-neesan!"
"I'll be back in a few days, Mari...."
The two teenagers stepped out of the room.
"Wh...what was with that...uh...."
Touji shook his head. "Ever since I got her transferred over here,
she's done that once in a while. It's strange.... And whenever EVA-03
comes up in conversation, it's like...." Touji frowned slightly. "Very
weird."
KENSUKE: It's still funny.
"My question is, how the HELL did anyone manage to tie a twenty-five
meter pink ribbon around this thing?"
"Shut up and help me get it off Unit 03."
"Yeah, yeah. Heh, I think it would look better with a blue ribbon."
"The last one _was_ blue."
"There was another one?"
SHINJI: That is funny for so many reasons.
TOUJI: NAME ONE!
REI: They turned it into a doll.
ASUKA: Like you? (snicker)
----
(Rei's expression changed from indifference to pure anger as she jumps
over Shinji and slaps Asuka across the face, leaving a red mark on her
cheek.)
---
(In the real world, Shinji is struggling with Rei to keep her from jumping
over him to slap Asuka across the face, leaving a red mark on her cheek.)
REI: (in an amazingly calm voice) There is such a thing as too much Asuka...
SHINJI: Calm down Rei.
ASUKA: What are you going to do about it first children?
(Rei grabs onto Shinji and rests her head on his shoulder. A small smile
forms on her face, like after the defeat of the 5th Angel.)
REI: (quietly) Never mind Asuka.
(Asuka fumes.)
SHINJI: (muttering) How did I get involved in this?
(The other three just stare.)
KENSUKE: Umm... (takes the remote from a somewhat distracted Shinji).
Let's continue...
Kensuke was sweating. It wasn't the "sweating because I'm a bit too
warm" kind of sweating, or the "sweating because I'm sort of nervous"
kind of sweating, but rather, the "sweating because I don't believe this
you have got to be kidding me WHAT THE F--ah, hahahah no that can't be
serious" kind of sweating. He took a good, long stare at the computer
screen.
[What did you just type?] he tapped out, slowly. Had he been speaking
out loud, he would have drawled like a Texan in slow motion.
[It's right there on the screen, above--] came the reply.
[Date Asuka.]
ASUKA: I think I'm going to be sick.
KENSUKE: You're not alone. I didn't think they'd actually go through
with it.
[Yes.]
[The hell I will!] he now pounded out, starting to become incensed,
while growling, "Who the hell is this nutcase, anyway?" He poised his
fingers to resume typing, but was beaten to the punch.
[It is not important who I am. Not to you.]
HIKARI: All those who think it's Rei, raise your hand.
(6 arms momentatily shot up in the room.)
[What's that supposed to mean?] returned Kensuke. Something at the
back of his mind started to itch.
[Exactly what I said.]
[Dammit, you, I don't have the time for this.]
[You will. Yes, you will.]
KENSUKE: I won't! No, I won't!
ASUKA: He won't! No, he won't!
The itch now started gnawing actively at his consciousness. [This is
just something I don't need. Go away, whoever you are. Leave me fricking
ALONE!] The keyboard shuddered under Kensuke's assault.
TOUJI: A little bit calm there, aren't you Kensuke?
KENSUKE: Shut up!
[Very well. I will go away, for now. Be warned...be warned. Mweh.
Heh. Heh.]
[Yeah, whatever. Don't bother me agaiDisconnected. Hit ctrl-c to
leave.]
Grumbling, Kensuke exited UNIX talk. "I don't believe this. It's
damn weird, that's what it...."
That little thing bothering Kensuke finally seized his attention in a
metaphorical headlock.
"Wait. I never actually _typed_ to ask who that was, did I?"
He gulped. And he gulped again.
SHINJI: This is something out of a horror movie.
TOUJI: I'm enjoying it.
KENSUKE: Shut UP Touji!
Rei took off her headphones, and smiled. Getting that bug into
Kensuke's room had involved some trickiness with a harness, the portable
motorized pulley she found in one of the NERV storerooms, quite a lot of
wire, a lockpick, and this tight-fitting black bodysuit which she had,
ah, borrowed, so as to make herself less visible in the night....
REI: (blush)
Ah, but it was worth it. Now, the fun could begin. She was going to
make sure that Kensuke would do as he was told.
KENSUKE: I don't think I'm going to like this very much.
Need to model the bodysuit for Shinji, too. Mweh. Heh. Heh.
TOUJI: And make sure that she DOES model the suit. And WHEN she DOES
model the suit, make sure that the two of them finally do
something besides KISS! And if you're sticking to THAT, let us at
least SEE the kissing! You KNOW what I mean! Quit censoring
everything! The audience wants to SEE the make-out scenes! You
can stick to your principles, and that's not a lemon or any other
type of erotic fruit!
ASUKA: HENTAI!!!
(Asuka, on fire again, beats Touji into a pulp while Shinji's and Rei's
blood pressure both go through the roof as the remark sinks in. Whether
they're angry, embarassed, or actually thinking about it is up to the
observer.)
Shinji, a few blocks away, started nosebleeding into his lamb stew on
saffroned rice.
KENSUKE: I think we know why...
(And with that, another person is forced to keep quiet thanks to Asuka.)
After doing her best to finish what had been questionably labeled
"dinner" by the nurse, Asuka decided to pop in the second tape, having
now finished the first one.
"Hey--Shinji! You idiot! You gave me one of your Giant Robo tapes!"
She fumed for a bit longer, then gave up, and started to watch
anyway.
That, in conjunction with what she ate, was probably a bad call.
HIKARI: How did any of these old tapes survive the 2nd Impact?
TOUJI: (waking up from his Asuka-induced coma) Is it really important?
It had been a long day for all concerned. Two were left in the
computer lab, putting in a bit of overtime.
"Well, that's all," reported Maya. She turned to face her
superior. "Sempai, what's been bothering you all day?"
"I'm...not sure. Don't worry about it." Ritsuko shook her head. "Call
it a day. Let's go, Maya...." She trailed off.
"Hmm?" said Maya.
"HA! That's it!" shouted Ritsuko, jumping out of her seat and
snapping her fingers.
"Is...what?" asked Maya, weakly, from ground level.
"Your name. It's being spelled with a 'ya' now, instead of 'ia'."
NERV's chief scientist nodded with satisfaction.
"..."
"Author finally wised up, I guess. Okay, we're out of here."
KENSUKE: (waking up from HIS Asuka-induced coma) Cute.
A bit later that night....
Mari yawned, put aside her copy of _War and Peace_, turned out the
lights, and curled up under her blankets. Early the next day, in the
EVA control room--
"DAMMIT! Why'd EVA-03's interface get set to Russian AGAIN!? Every
freaking morning!"
REI: Knowledge about War & Peace might help on this one...
SHINJI: That girl seems to be able to manipulate her brain patterns to
create structures in our reality.
(Everyone stares at him.)
SHINJI: I'm starting to sound like Ritsuko...
"Good morning, and how is our patient today...Souryuu-san? You don't
look very well. Didn't you sleep last night?"
"Nightmares...horrible nightmares...Bishoujo Senshi G...Giant R--
Robo...couldn't sleep...."
"Oh, my."
(6 people collapse on the ground, and than resume their positions in their
seats.)
In the heavens, far, far above our beloved and behated characters,
doom approached, and it was ugly....
Oh well. Wait for it.
SHINJI: Doom?
HIKARI: Hai.
REI: Careful...
"Happy, now?"
The writer ran from a storm of requests for part 4.
"ARGH!"
TOUJI: Does anyone know when part 3 came out?
HIKARI: Why?
TOUJI: If it was a long time ago, we can complain.
Part 4 should be, indeed, sooner out. I have my ideas running already.
Here's to hoping, yes?
ALL: Yes!
-----------------------------
KENSUKE: Well, that's all.
TOUJI: It was kind of short, but I liked it.
KENSUKE: (turning to the pilots) So, what did you guys think?
(Asuka is still fuming about MANY things that are occuring. Rei seems to
almost smile as she watches the angered Asuka. Meanwhile, Shinji is
still in thought as Rei is still leaning on him.)
SHINJI: It was...
REI: Nice.
ASUKA: WHAT IS THAT GUY DOING TO ME?!
KENSUKE: You're getting what you deserve!
(*SMACK*)
ASUKA: At least I don't have to suffer alone.
TOUJI: Well, we'd better continue.
SHINJI: What do you mean?
TOUJI: There ARE three parts before this one you know. You guys should
be filled in on the whole story.
HIKARI: Are you sure we won't be found?
KENSUKE: (rubbing his cheek) Aaahhh... very sure. The door disappeared
into the wall. Otherwords, this place is completely hidden from
the eyes of others.
TOUJI: I need to get up for a while.
KENSUKE: (looking at Asuka fearfully) You're not alone.
SHINJI: Well, why don't we just meet back here in... say 15 minutes?
KENSUKE: Sounds good to me.
(The 6 of them agree, though Asuka is more reluctant than agreeable.)
HIKARI: Alright then. 15 minutes.
(Kensuke, Touji, and Hikari walk off in one direction to discuss the
reactions of the pilots when they see the other three films. Rei and
Shinji walk off in another direction, to talk (yes, talk, you heard me
right). Asuka looks at the two of them walk away together.)
ASUKA: I hate my life.
(She proceeds to find something she can spend 15 minutes trying to
destroy.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I hope you enjoyed it. I'm gonna start on Part II
(Chapter 1) soon, hopefully within an hour.

It's already done.
