I am wondering if anyone has done either of these two plots:

1. Both Tendo parents are alive when ranma arrives, Ranma's
story is unchanged and the girls are the same people just
toned down, Eg: Kasumi is going to college but helps out
around the house when home, Nabiki is Mercenary but not as
much since she doesn't have to support the family, Akane is
a Martial Artist but as filled with anger.

Interesting, I've thought about doing something like it...I may still
someday. Go for it, there's no such thing as 'too many Ranma fanfics'.
:)

But...does Nabiki support the family in the original? She may handle the
finances, but I don't recall seeing any indication that she uses HER
money to support the household.

Also, why would Akane not change at all? Or did you leave a 'not' out of
your description of Akane. I'd think she'd actually be a lot nicer since
a lot of her anger is likely due to losing her mother at a young age.

BTW no rule that says you can't do something even if someone has done
something similar. Otherwise we Ranma fanfic writers would run out of
posibilities based on the vast number of fanfics. Of course, you'd want
to avoid being too similar to another fanfic. But there will always be
some ideas that show up in multiple fanfics. Inspiration is what it's
called. All authors draw inspiration from somewhere, including other
authors.

I myself used an idea I saw somewhere to use a real pig to replace
P-chan in Childhood of a Modern Dynasty. It's not a major plot point in
the story and was just a useful plot device to keep Ryoga from being
killed by Akane. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to recall where I'd seen
it and give proper credit.

Of course, crediting the original work that inspired you if you can is a
good idea.

And of course, taking an existing story, rewriting it slightly, and
putting your name on it is plagerism. I'm not suggesting that. Just
using a similar idea and expanding on it with your own plat/story is not
(although I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on TV or the FFML).

Plagerism: Ranma is killed and is resurected a hundred years later by a
really old Akane. He discovers that Shampoo's ghost is haunting him.
After having to defeat the Church of Ryoga and Ukyo they have slow and
gentle sex. (would be a rip off of Ranma 2096).

Not: Ranma is killed and wanders as a ghost for 80 years. Then Akane
dies of old age and becomes a ghost. Ryoga and Ukyo marry, but get lost
and can never form the church they always dreamed of starting. Ranma and
Akane find each other and have sex.
