Here, produced electronically for your viewing pleasure, is a short fic, being
a tiny jaunt within the Neon Genisis Evangelion Universe. Enjoy.

Ye Olde Disclaimere:
I have no claim to the creation of these characters, and all are copywrote to
Gainax, Hideaki Anno, lots of other rich people. If I even considered using
thier characters for my own profit, they'd have Asuka tap-dance on my head
with Unit02

Ani-Mania Incroperated Presents:

"A short; nearly dark; and not so nearly funny as some other fics, but still
enjoyable NGE fic; that may or may not have penguins... but probably does."

"Tadaima Shinji-kun!" Misato called as she entered the apartment.
No answer. 'Must still be out,' Misato thought as she took off her jacket,
throwing it on the couch. 'Ah well. That gives me some time to relax, and
enjoy my favorite past-time,' she decided, opening the fridge. "Here we go!"
she said, taking a can of beer out of the fridge and poping the top.
"Here's to the good life!" she said, knocking back about half the can in one
shot. She took a look at the label. "Ugh. American beer. Kaji and his
stupid "Beer Around the World Club" membership. Give me a good ol' can of
Yebisu any day."
When she came back up for air, she heard a rustling. "Shinji-kun, is that
you?" she called. No answer.
"Hmm. Must be imagining things," she said to herself, preparing a pack of
microwave dumplings. Then she heard it again.
"Who's there! Shinji-kun, are you home," she called, a little louder, peeking
around the door frame. No answer. No one there.
Misato turned back to her dumplings, shaking her head. 'Man, working for
NERV has sure put me on edge recently,' she thought, stiring the dumplings.
There was another ruffling sound, followed by a burst of shuffling footsteps.
Misato grabbed a pan from the sink. Fortuanrely it was full of dirty dishes
since it was her day to wash. She stood with her back to wall beside the
door. She called into the other room. "Whoever you are, you'd better leave
in a hurry! I'm in no mood for games."
The shuffling footsteps stopped in front of the kitchen door. Misato raised
the pan, ready to slam it into whoever came through the door. The person
turned the handle, shakily, and opened the door ever so slowly.
Misato didn't waste a moment, gathering her strength, she swung the pan
straight at the intruder's beak.
'Beak!' she thought wildly, wrenching the pan out of it's path and throwing
it into the cabnets on the other side of the kitchen. Fortunately it missed
the three foot tall bird.
"Pen-Pen!" she shouted, "Don't sneak up on me like that." She grabbed her
beer from the counter, and poped the dumplings in the microwave. She wiped
her forehead. 'Silly bird scared me out of my wits,' she though. She felt a
chill, and looked over her shoulder. Pen-Pen was staring at her.
"Jeez, I'm sorry," she appologized, "But you snuck up on me. You could have
said something," she explained, taking a pull from the can of beer. Pen-Pen
was still staring at her.
"What!" she exclaimed. "I said I was sorry. I've been on edge recently."
She suddenly realized she was carring on a conversation with her pet. She
shut up, turning back to watch the timer on the microwave tick down. She
could feel his eyes burning into her back. 'It's my imagination,' she soothed
herself, 'he's gone back to his room, and all this will have been forgotten.
She turned around. Pen-Pen was staring at her.
"What do you want!" she shouted. "I said I was sorry, and it's your fault
anyway Pen-Pen. Sneaking up like that. At least I didn't do any damage." she
said, looking over the penguins body. His nametag was missing. And he was
still staring at her.
"What happened to your nametag, Pen-Pen?" she asked.
He still stared at her. He took a step foward.
	"I said, 'Where's your nametag'."
He still stared. He took another step.
"You aren't Pen-Pen, are you?" she called, her voice cracking.
	He took a step foward.
"Who are you? What do you want? Where's Pen-Pen?"
No answer. He took a step foward.
"Well say something!" she screamed, throwing her beer at it. "Go on! Say
something! Talk! TALK!"
	<Do be do be doo>
