I'm going to interject here that the FFML has an official <cough><cough>
IRC server running at irc.fanfic.com, with an alternate server at
irc2.fanfic.com. All clients, from IRC to BitchX, are welcome. The server
is a Dreamforge IRCd w/ long nicks.

Channels can be created or not at the users whim.
