Having seen the C&C (my story! my baby! *bwaaah*! :-) and re-read
the story in question, let me say the following:
* I agree that the whole bit about Akane's mallet rings false.
I had an idea at the time, but I never followed it through, as
those of you who keep reading Nekophobia will see.
* In fact, I could just drop the whole mallet thread, and replace
it with something more IC.
* But I won't because I'd rather work on something new than spend
all my time re-writing Nekophobia. Besides, this part has already
gone to RAAC.
Looking back, I'd have to say that Part 3 is about the weakest
point of the whole story. Still, it's there, and I guess we all
have our weaknesses.
Regarding the depth of Ranma's thoughts... well, granted, but I
never really intended Nekophobia to be an Original Flavour romp
anyway. Besides, I'm of the school that believe that you need
a certain amount of brainpower to be a top martial artist. Ranma
*cannot* be as dumb as a stone. Informal and socially inept due
to his upbringing, yes, but that doesn't mean very much.
Oh well, I don't want to get into a character debate. Nekophobia
is all but done and I'm eager to concentrate on other projects,
such as Wild Child. Who says my characterisation of the major
characters will remain the same in other works? I certainly don't.
To those who have been kind enough to send C&C to both me and the
list, thank you. Oh, and "much as I hesitate to... well-respected
author..." Huh? Well, I'm flattered, but since when did 'lese
majestie' come into force? I was a newbie myself 18 months ago.
(In fact, Nekophobia is my first 'fic, believe it or not, and I
guess part 3 shows it.)
Thank you for listening, and for reading my works.
PS: For those who don't know their history, 'lese majestie' was
the crime of criticizing (speaking against) the king. I have
extended the concept here to include 'any respected person'...
