*   *
Nearly 1,000 years have passed since the rise, and fall,
of the city known as Crystal Tokyo, and its monarchy,
Neo-Queen Serenity, King Endymion, and their daughter,
Princess Serenity, once known as Chibi-usa. The reason
behind the fall remains a mystery to the general populace,
but this missing piece of history is not a priority to them
at the moment; the once-proud city is in such chaos that
the current government has declared a state of emergency.
A woman claiming to be the daughter of the late Princess
Serenity suddenly makes her appearance, promising to lead
Tokyo back to it's golden age. The people, willing to believe
almost anything at this point, put their lives in her hands.
Meanwhile, another young woman claiming to be related
to the royal family begins her search for those she thought
would never again reappear... the original Sailor Senshi...
*   *

"The authorities are in a state of panic. Ms. Minako Aino,
President of the Aino Corporation, and the woman who many
believed was the last living 'Sailor Senshi', is apparently in
the throes of commiting suicide. If you will just pan left...
that building up there... Kami-sama! S-she..."

The television was shut off. The only sounds remaining
were the hum of some appliance, and the muffled sounds
of shouting from the apartment next door.

The woman who sat in front of the television seemed calm,
her face a pleasant, placid mask. The unruly midnight blue tresses
that spilled over her shoulders were the only things in disarray. Almost
unconsciously, she reached up to her forehead, and smoothed back
some of the strands. Now visible was the golden mark that looked
suspiciously like a crescent moon turned on its side.

After a few more moments of sitting in silence, the woman reached
for the small knob that was attached to the side of her couch. The TV
blared to life once again. The news story had been replaced by a picture
of some type of meeting hall. A man stood behind the podium, raising his
hand for quiet. The voices went down to a mere murmur, and the man
began to speak.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to begin this press conference
by expressing my deep feelings of regret for the plight of Minako Aino,
a valued member of our community. I would request a moment of silence
to mourn her passing."

The woman on the couch scrunched up her face, almost in disgust,
but maintained her silence.

After a couple of seconds, the man on the television raised his head
and nodded solemnly. "Thank you. Now, the woman you've been waiting
for... Ms. Sachiko Tsukino!"

The man slowly walked off the screen, clapping with the audience.
A woman briskly walked onto the stage, and the clapping intensified.

'Tsukino...' The woman watching the TV fidgeted, clasping her hands
together so tightly her knuckles turned white. All the while, her face
remained
as blank as ever.

Sachiko Tsukino was not a particularly petite woman, nor a tall
woman, either, but the podium had been made for an average sized
man. Sachiko's upper body hardly even showed over it. A small
scowl crossed her face, but it was quickly replaced by a bright smile
as she looked out into the audience.

The smile was one that the midnight-blue haired woman had
seen often enough. Full of warmth, and promises, but entirely
superficial. The smile, however, wasn't the first thing the woman
noticed. It was the odangos.

Two round balls sat on Sachiko's head neatly, all her
jet-black hair with its swirls of silver, along with the make up,
looking too perfect for the woman to have done it herself. Bangs
that started off almost too short to be seen, ended up framing
her face. They swished neatly back and forth as she turned
her head to aknowledge everyone.

The style was currently the newest fashion, but even
the most prolific of young women couldn't mimic it exactly. The
popular theory was that Sachiko's hair was magical, and therefore
could not be reproduced.

"I am glad you could all make it," Sachiko's smile drooped a
bit, "On this, such a sad day." Her smile brightened once again,
almost on cue. "But this day, as well, is one filled with the promise of
hope..."

"You can promise.. but can you follow through on your words?
We're tired of the lies!"

A look of surprise crossed Sachiko's face as the shout came
from the back of the audience. Murmurs started up from the rest of
the crowd, and Sachiko raised her hands for silence.

"Already, I have begun implementing my plan of action. As
you know, I have reinstated the Tokyo Youma Squad. Our streets
are becoming less dangerous every day. The government is being
reestablished, and I have hired Dr. Ai Lawrence to help us
move forward into the technologically advanced age of some
of our more unfriendly neighbors..."

"Ms. Tsukino!" Another voice called out, this one female, and
nearer to the front of the room, in a chair marked "V.I.P". The woman
stood up, hand poised over what seemed to be some type of note taker.
A badge clipped over her lapel read "Masami Seito, Editor".

"Yes, Miss Seito?" Sachiko looked ruffled.

"It's Ms," Masami corrected briskly,"And I apologize for
interrupting, but I was wondering what steps you are intending to
take in regards to these "unfriendly neighbors"? As you know,
China has become overrun with technomages and the like,
and certain parts of Neo-Europe have youmas running the streets.

"Dangerous things surround us, Ms. Tsukino. How do you
intend to make sure our military is properly equipped? Or since
you claim to be a descendent of Serenity, are you planning to
somehow reunite the continents?"

Sachiko had gotten a little red in the face, and her blue eyes
had turned silvery with her anger. "Miss Seito, if you would let me get
a word in..."

Masami remained silent, but her lip curled in what appeared to be
a sneer.

'Strange..' the woman watching the show thought. 'I've never seen
anyone openly challenge Sachiko..'

"Serenity was my mother, and I will follow in her peace-making ways.
I intend to take care of all of this with a small surprise..." The smile was
back, beautiful and fake as ever.

The woman before the television flinched, as if she knew what was
coming.

"The true reason I called this conference was I believe there is
something everyone will be delighted to hear.

"I have received confirmation that one of our oldest legends is
coming true. The original Sailor Senshi of Crystal Tokyo are dead...
but their reincarnated souls live on. And I..." She paused, looking smug.
"Have found them..."

      The television went blank.

The woman with the midnight-blue hair sighed. "Did that baka
forget to pay the electricity bill?"

A small thump, followed by a string of low, angry mutterings
caused the woman to turn her head. The sounds were coming from
the front door. No one EVER came through the front door.

The woman picked up a small bag that had been placed neatly
on a nearby table. Casting one last long, anxious look at the door,
she walked carefully out the backway, and disappeared into the night.

Moments later, the sound of splintering wood filled the old-fashioned
apartment, followed by, "Luna, come out with your hands up.."

--

A man sat hunched over a desk, typing furiously at
something that was hidden from view. He paused to impatiently
push a lock of spiky blue hair out of his eyes, and adjusted his
silver-framed glasses.

"Hmm.." He looked quizzical for a moment, then slammed
his fist down in anger, and stood up violently. His chair clattered
to the ground, and the small, buzzing mini-computer came into
view.

He snatched up a long leather trenchcoat from the floor
and slung it around his shoulders.

"Excuse me, are you Masamitsu Aisu-san?"

"W-what?" he stuttered, looking up in surprise at the voice.
What greeted his eyes was a young woman, thick, midnight
blue hair flowing around her shoulders. He squinted at the
odangos and bandage on her forehead.

"I'm sorry, Miss, but as you can see.." He gestured around
at the nearly empty room. "We've been shut down for business."

She shrugged impatiently, and stepped forward. Her yellow
and dark purple dress could be seen clearly now, and the man's
mouth fell open.

"That's an.. interesting costume you've got there," he muttered,
pushing his glasses up his nose once again, a nervous gesture. Was
this woman some type of weirdo?

"Are you Masamitsu-san?" she repeated, staring at him intently.

      "Uh... yes, that's right."

Her mouth softened into a slight smile. "Then I've found you at last...
Ami-chan."
