The Returners Return

Act I, Prologue

In the World of Ruin, the Returners fight with Kefka in his demonic
tower of doom. As Terra, Locke, Celes and Gogo fight him, the battle
looks lost to the returners.
Terra suddenly looks distracted as if she's talking to someone; which,
in fact, she is.
"Father, what do you mean there's a way I can save my friends here, on
the ledge and myself?"
"There is a spell all Espers can use," the voice of Mauduin said in
Terra's head, "and since you are half Esper, you'll be able to use it as
well. It is called 'D-Warp."
"Warp? Where will it take us?" Terra also wanted to ask what the 'D'
meant but knew she didn't have much time.
"It will take you to another dimension, infuse your souls with other
humans souls and let your souls lay dormant until needed here or over
there. Anymore questions?"
"No, no more questions." When Terra looked about she didn't like the
sight that greeted her eyes. Her friends had all been injured gravely
while she had been out of it. When she looked down she noticed that she
too was quite battered. Then her hands were drawn together as she began
to gather her magic to a focus. When the energy reached its peak, she
yelled "D-Warp!"
Everybody turned to look at her in surprise. As soon as the words left
her mouth, a funnel opened up, sucking up many people. The people who
were supposed to be taken were Terra, Locke, Edgar, Sabin, Celes,
Shadow, Cyan, Gau, Setzer, Mog, Relm, Strago, Umaro and Gogo. All of
them were brought along except Umaro. In his place both Kefka and
Mauduin were taken.

In Nerima, Japan, 1991, a girl named Kasumi Tendo approached her 10
year old sister, Nabiki.
"Nabiki, can I talk to you alone for a little while?" Kasumi knew that
Nabiki would be interested in what she had to say since she had said
"alone".
She had also realized that Nabiki could manage to get them a private
spot for as long as they needed,... for a price.
"How long will this meeting take?" Kasumi's sister had grown up into
quite the business woman after their mother's death.
"I'll need to talk to you for about an hour. I'll pay you 500 yen." The
older girl was stern in her offer, letting Nabiki know she wouldn't pay
a yen more.
"Alright, I'll accept your deal," she mumbled for not being the one to
state the price. In actual fact, Nabiki was almost delirious from
delight! She had only planned on making Kasumi pay a measly 10 yen. "But
if this is the standard 'Birds and Bees' talk, I had better warn you,
I'll probably zone out. I've already received it from Dad and Mom."
"Trust me, it's more important than that." Kasumi had placed a
mischievous smile one her face to hook Nabiki more.

In a quiet nook, Kasumi began to reveal her deepest secret to Nabiki.
"Talking to you now is a girl named Terra. My world was being destroyed
so I transferred the souls of myself and my friends to this world.
Unfortunately; another, evil person was caught along in the portals
current, but that's another story. The reason I called you here is
because I need you to hold onto this." She then holds out a green rock
with an orange label on it.
You want me to hold onto your pet rock named 'Mauduin'?" Nabiki was
beginning to think that her sister had gone crazy.
"It's not just a rock, it's a piece of Magicite. It's the remains of an
Esper. I need you to keep it safe. Do not reveal it to ANYONE!"
"What's so special about a persons corpse that no one else can know
about?" Nabiki was wary now because she was starting to believe. This
scared her because she had a policy not to believe until proof was
presented to her.
"Anyone who has the Magicite "Mauduin" can learn many powerful spells
as well as the ability to call forth my spirit from its sleep. This is
because he was the Espers leader. Find a place where you can be alone
after this, for Kasumi will remember nothing, and get Mauduin to teach
you the spells." 'Terra" looked so serene as she said this that Nabiki
was finally won over.
"How do I talk to Mauduin?" Nabiki was curious. She had lost many
friends she could confide in when she started her money making schemes
to keep her family afloat. So, taking this into account, to be able to
talk to someone who wouldn't tell the world was exciting to her. Also,
the fact that she was finding it hard to deny her sister anything and to
charge her. Soon, she'd have to disclude her from any of her schemes.
'Terra' smiled warmly seeing that Nabiki had accepted her role. "I'll
show you. Close your eyes and..."

Many weeks later, Nabiki had mastered 20 spells and learned how to talk
to Mauduin. Meanwhile, Kasumi was trying to figure out what happened to
the hour(s) between when she'd put something on to cook and when she'd
wake up just before it's done cooking. Luckily, this annoying habit
stopped happening so she forgot about it and got on with her life.

Part 1: Good-bye Daddy!

"Akane," Kasumi's sweet voice called, "could you wake up Ranma,
please?"
"He'll get really mad that we're waking him up on a Saturday. Why do
you want him up now, any ways?" Akane was very curious. Kasumi never
asked anyone to get up at a certain time unless they had something to
do.
"Father and Mr. Saotome wanted to talk with all of us. It's getting
late and I think that they're getting impatient." Kasumi said this as if
she were just giving Akane a cooking lesson. In her little world nothing
seemed to make and impact on her. The last time Father had called them
together like this was when he announced the engagement to Ranma.
"I'll go get him," mumbled the youngest Tendo, as she trudged up the
stairs to Ranma's room. She had a feeling of impending doom! Then, she
entered Ranma's room.
	[Insert Standard R/A Fight(TM)]
1 minute later...
"Ranma you Jerk!!" We see a figure starting to fade into the sunset.
Suddenly, the person impacts with the sun, shatters it, and then gets
burned to a crisp.
Author: I'm kidding, I'm kidding!
As Ranma flew threw the sky he could be heard yelling "Uncute tom---,"
and was suddenly cut off by a mallet to the face.
When he finally returned to the dojo, The meeting began.
"Children, I have great news!" Soun announced.
"You're not getting us engaged again?" Nabiki interjected.
"Before Soun could deny or confirm the fact, Kasumi also cutted in. "I
hope it's not a younger man. They bore me so."
"No, no; I'm not engaging you girls again, well maybe not yet any ways.
I'm..." Soun started to look frustrated as Nabiki cuts in again.
"You're getting married to a naive, rich, woman who's hopelessly in
love with you?" This time the girl sounded hopeful.
"Father, that's not right!" Kasumi continues scolding her father for
even thinking such a thing.
"I'm not going after a rich woman," said an exasperated Soun.
"Good," Kasumi said, pleased as punch that she discouraged those bad
thoughts from his mind.
"Man?" Nabiki asked, still hopeful to belong to a rich family.
"Father!" Take a guess who said that.
"No, Nabiki, I am not going to marry a rich man," Soun said through
clenched teeth. "I am..."
This time he is interrupted by Akane. "You're ending my engagement to
that idiot?" she asks while jerking her thumb at Ranma.
"No, Akane," Soun was stern now. "I am..." he stops, expecting to be
interrupted again. When he see's that he wasn't, he starts again.
"I'm..."
"Going on a training trip with Pop for a few years." Ranma interrupts.
He looks at everyone (beside Kasumi), daring them to challenge him.
"No, Ranma. I'm... how did you know that?!" he demanded.
"Pop signed it to me since you couldn't get it out and told me to
interrupt you like everyone else. Happy camping!" With that Ranma turns
to leave, but Genma-panda starts whacking him on the head with a sign
that says: "You weren't supposed to say that!" Ranma gets annoyed and
kicks the panda into the koi pond.
Genma-panda holds up a sign that says: "I was already a panda!
A-HAHAHA..."(Runs out of room)flips sign over: "HAHAHA..." *WHAP!*
Genma-panda is hit into unconscious by Ranma.
Later that day, a bawling Soun (crying because even though he hasn't
even left 2 steps out the door [Literally], he misses his house, his
dojo, and, most importantly, his shogi... er... um... daughters!) and a
sore Genma (having had the unfortunate experience of being hit over the
head by the table with the strength of Akane's wrath. She was aiming for
Ranma, but slipped on water left from the kettle and hit Genma) start on
their journey.
"Oh, my!" Kasumi said passively. "I forgot that it was only four of us
eating tonight and cooked for six. It looks like I'm going to have to
waste 2 perfectly good meals!"
Suddenly; Soun, Genma, and half the neighbourhood came to stake a claim
to the meals.
"Oh, my;" Kasumi said again. "This is one big mess to be sorted out."
Kasumi pondered long and hard (5 minutes) on the dilemma and , finally,
reached a conclusion.
"Since it was originally Father's and Mr. Saotome's, it's only proper
that they eat it." A huge, collective groan echoed from the mob. "But
since you all came all the way down here for something to eat, you can
have these cookies I made earlier..." Nobody let her finish before they
grabbed a cookie and gobbled it down. "... with Akane. She is getting
much better, don't you think?" She doesn't get a response because
everyone is suddenly unconscious. "See? Her cookies didn't cause
convulsions this time! She's progressing very quickly." She promptly
leaves the yard to attend to her family. She also gives Dr. Tofu a call
so that he can attend to the almost lifeless corpses... er... bodies...
er... people. ( Akane starts getting angry with the author for making
fun of her cooking for a while now.
Genma and Soun are now sitting down at the table eating Kasumi's meal
and talking about how they're going to pack a very important item they
nearly forgot... the shogi board. They babbled into the wee hours of the
night. Sometime during that time frame, they got a bottle of sake and
started to talk about weird arrangements and plans. Luckily, they fell
unconscious in a drunken stupor, forgetting all the ideas that had come
into their heads. This was extremely luck for those who were to be
involved because who knows what crazy plan they might have come up with.
The next morning, they left on their trip, without the shogi board, hung
over.
