1)What kind of shopping complexes would a district like Nerima be most used?
Would they use big malls like in the states and here (down under) or would
they be more like street shops etc etc. The shopping to be done is for
clothing.

Probably both, but most likely clothing would be bought in
the big malls.  They're called "depaato"; they're much bigger
than almost anything in the states.  Anywhere from 10-18
stories of shopping featuring everything from food to clothes
to home furniture.
