Konnichwa Minna-san
Well, this is my first posting here and the first fanfic I wrote, a
cross-over between Fushigi Yuugi and Ranma Nibunnoichi. Main reason I
started this is I've been reading fanfics for a while now but there are
very few X-overs between these two series, and I just decided to
actually do one myself. Well, enough of my ranting here, here's the
fic.
P.S. I've said before and I'll say it again, this is my first fic so
don't expect too much from it. C&C and flames welcome.

their curses are invoked:
Genma = Genma-panda
Shampoo = Shampoo-neko
Ranma = Ranma-chan
Ryoga = P-Chan

I'll be referring to the seishi by their original Ranma � names, Ukyou
in this fic will be doing the same, and the seishi shall refer to each
other by their seishi name.
And just to let you know, I'm one of those people whose a Pro-Ukyou
Bias, so you'll be seeing her as the hero instead of Akane.. ::shudders
at the name::. Even though she plays the role of Miaka ::shudders
again::, she won't act as stupid as Miaka did.

Chapter 1: The Girl of the Legend

This is a story about a girl who got the seven seishi of Suzaku.
She obtained omnipotent power and made her wishes come true�
The story itself is an incantation. Whomever finishes reading it, will
receive this power�

Nerima.
The sunlight shone through the trees. Young couples in love walked in
nearby parks. Friends gathered together to share the special moments
that this fine day brought. People cheerfully walked down the streets
in high-spirits, so far, this has been a perfect, quiet, and
peaceful day...
Then Ranma and Akane woke up.
"RANMA NO BAKA"
"Dammit Akane! Stop whackin me with your damn hammer you kwaikunee!!"
"Nani?! Shut up you womanizing hentai!! I saw you trying to get to the
Nekohanten!! Why don't you at least try my cooking first!!!"
"HA!! Your cooking?! I don't hafta eat it to know that it'll taste like
toxic waste!!"
"AARRRGGGHHHHH!!! DIE RANMA!!!"
::BOOM::
As usual, the daily bickering began for Ranma and Akane; and as always,
Akane reached into hammerspace(TM) and punted Ranma into the
stratosphere and beyond.
Which basically translates into a normal day at Nerima.
Soun and Genma-panda looked on as their children ended another fight.
"Saotome-kun, our children are always fighting!! The dojos will never be
joined!! WAHH!!!!"
As Soun wailed on again, Genma was trying to calm him down and thinking
of yet another plan to
bring the two together.
[Tendo-kun, I have a plan!!....]
Moments later...
[Tendo-kun, you can stop crying now! There really isn't anything to cry
about right now!]
Akane yelled out from the house, "Alright you two, breakfast is ready!!
I prepared some special dishes for you two to enjoy!!" Adds in a evil
tone, "And you better eat all of it too!!!"
The cries of a man and panda filled the air.

Cut to Space...
"Sir, we regret to report that Space Station Mir has suffered yet
another blow to the oxygen tanks, looks like we'll be needing some
resupply shuttles again soon."
"Goddammit, have you at least discovered what is causing all this?!"
"Well sir, all the projectiles seem to leave a man-sized dent,
interestingly, all of them originate from
Tokyo, Japan."
"Hmm... well, the United Nation is gonna hear about this soon. It's
about time they investigated this; now give me some more pictures of
the damage."
"Alright sir."
Several scans of a figure clad in a red shirt and black pants were sent�

Back to the Tendo Dojo..
A small dot appears in the sky, it steady becomes larger... larger...
::SPLASH::
Ranma-chan crawled out of the koi pond that's rapidly becoming her
second home and went inside the house. Looking around, she spots Kasumi
happily doing everyday housework.
"Kasumi, do you know where Akane is?"
"Oh hello Ranma, I'm afraid Akane isn't here right now, she went to the
National Library with Ukyou."
"Oh well, thanks anyway Kasumi."
Ranma-chan sighed to herself, one of days she'll have to get rid of all
the problems that's in her life; maybe right now is a good time to sort
things out. Let's see, starting with the fianc�es, then the enemies...
"RANMA!! Prepare to die!!!"
"Release your vile holds upon the pig-tailed girl and Akane Tendo you
fiend!!"
"Ohohohohohohoho!! Come Ranma-sama, let us go to a place more...
private so you can express your love to me!!"
"Ni Hao Ranma! You take Shampoo to date now like promise?"
"Saotome!! How dare you come between my love for Shampoo, you shall
suffer my wrath!!"
Then again, there's always time to run several laps around Tokyo.

At the National Library...
Akane and Ukyou walked to the entrance of the library, the immense
building loomed over them, looking to be some-what intimidating to a
normal person.
Hey, this is Ukyou and Akane we're talking about here, who says they're
normal?
The two have surprisingly grown to be the best of friends shortly after
the failed wedding. Akane forgave Ukyou quickly, and Ukyou found that
her lonely times came to an end when she had Akane as a friend. They
soon began doing many things together, much to the dismay of Soun and
Genma.
Right now, it's time to prepare for the college exams. Ukyou and Akane
both received exceptional marks for their academic performances, they
also plan to attend the same college.
"Hey Akane, you go look for the books first, I want to buy something to
drink first"
"Alright Ukyou, I'll be on the second floor."
Ukyou walked over to the vending machines, various refreshments caught
her eye, now if only she can find that coin..
::ding::
"Oops, boy am I clumsy today."
As she went to pick up the coin, she didn't notice the red glow that
suddenly appeared behind her. Then, she turned..
..and came face to face with a fiery bird.
"Wha..."
Before she could finish, the bird flew off, leaving behind a trail of
red glitter.
Fascinated, Ukyou stumbled after the creature, only to find that the
trail ended in the important documents room. She looked around, making
sure no one saw her, and went in. Once inside, she once again saw the
path of red glitter, which ended abruptly into...a book?
Intrigued, she took the book from the shelf and started to open it...
...only to jump a bit when a pair of hands suddenly came to rest on her
shoulders. She turned, startled.. only to find Akane suppressing the
urge to giggle.
::Sigh:: "Akane, never do that again, you nearly scared me to death."
"Heh, the look on your face was all worth it. Say, what's that book in
your hand?"
"I dunno, I followed a sort of bird to the book, and no, I'm not seeing
thins or going crazy."
"A bird? Why would a bird be in a library? And you say that it went
into the book?"
"I dunno, it does seems kinda strange doesn't it?"
"Well, with all the stuff that happens around here, I believe that it's
really possible."
"Yeah, now then, the title is in... Chinese? Boy, I hope my lessons
paid off. Let's see here, Shi.. Shi Shen Tien Di Sho, the book of The
Four Gods, Sky and Earth?"
"Ukyou, look at that picture over there, did it just glitter red?"
"Eh? What?! Akane! It's a picture of the bird I saw!!"
"What?! Really?! Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm definitely sure that it's the one!"
At that very moment, the book flashed red, engulfing the two in it's
brilliant light; when the light finally faded
away, the two were gone.

Unknown Area
Light.
Ukyou awoke to the light shining in her face. She and Akane were in a
barren land, nothing buy dirt and rocks for miles.
Akane woke up then and after surveying her surroundings, did the most
sensible thing she could think of then.
She pulled out her mallet and whacked Ukyou on the head.
"Hey Ukyou, did that hurt?"
Ukyou cursed under her breath, Akane was always the one to do things
without thinking.
"Well, Akane, YES!! THAT HURT LIKE HELL!!! Ow...."
"Um... Ukyou, since we're not dreaming, where are we?"
Ukyou, still fairly dizzy, answered, "Well, to tell you the truth, I
really don't know, maybe we can ask those guys dressed like Chinese
dancers over there."
Then Ukyou's mind started to work properly.
<Wait-a-minute, Chinese clothing? Barren land?>
The guys started advancing on the two. One yelled out loud, "Well well,
look at what we got here, think they'll sell for good prices?"
The other replied, "Look at their clothing, they look like foreigners.
Good!! We'll make even more off of them."
While their conversation was being carried out, the two girls watched on
with confusion...
...until they tried to grab them.
Some might pity the man that tried to grab Akane, too bad there was no
one around to do so.
::BOOM::
Although this moment would have lived down as the first time a man flew
and went into space, nobody really cared to note that fact right now.
The second man turned and ran.. ... straight into a young man.
The young man spat, "Attacking young girls now?! What kind of _man_
does that?!"
With that, his hands blurred, and the second man simply fell to the
ground in a heap.
Satisfied, the young man turned toward Ukyou and Akane; they gasped...
"RAN-CHAN!!"
"RANMA!!"

The young man was confused.
Well, you would be too if two girls wearing strange costumes who you
never saw before in your life knew you.
"Um... excuse me, but who are you two?"
Ukyou was shocked. Akane was mad...
"RANMA!! HOW DARE YOU PLAY THIS JOKE ON US?! DRAGGING US TO SOME
DESERTED PLACE?!"
And that's when it hit her.
"YOU PERVERT!!! GETTING US ALONE SO YOU CAN PUT THE MOVES ON US EH?!
WELL TAKE THIS!!"
Silence.
Akane's mallet lay on the ground about twenty feet away, Ranma easily
deflected the blow and knocked the weapon from her hands.
Akane had a shocked expression on her face as she glared at Ranma,
<How?! He never dares to avoid that before!>
While all this was happening, Ukyou had a plan of her own.
She took her mega-spatula and smacked them both upside the head, well,
at least it eased up the tension between them.
A while later...
"So you're telling me that you two somehow got sucked into a book and
ended up here? Aw c'mon!! You can
come up with a better story than that!"
"Ranma no baka!! I bet this is all your fault!!"
"Hey hold it you tomboy, I don't even know you and you start blaming
everything on me?!"
Ukyou smiled to herself, no matter what happened or where they are,
something always remained the same.
"Now stop it you two, this ain't getting us anywhere. Alright now,
first of all, where the hell are we?"
"You're in Konan Country, China."
"C-China?! But how?!"
Akane interrupted, "Now hold it, we're in China... but why does it seem
so ancient? I mean, China has to be more advanced than this right?"
Ranma retorted, "Well, under the emperor's rule, we have made a lot of
advances in various areas.."
Ukyou and Akane facefaulted, "The emperor?! How?! How can we get back
to our world?!"
"I dunno, but I can guide you two around the country..."
"Really? You would do that?"
"... for a small price of course."
"Money?"
Ranma frowned, "Don't tell me you two don't have any money on you."
Akane retorted back, "Well! So now you expect us to pay you?! Just
what the hell are you thinking you baka?!"
Ranma just turned and started walking, "Hey, these days money is power,
if ya don't have money, then you're just outta luck."
Ukyou sighed and searched her pockets for spare change, neither she nor
Ranma saw what happened to Akane.
Akane, still furious at Ranma, wanted to give him a good beating when
the ground under her glowed and emitted a bright red light similar to
the one that got them here in the first place. Within a second, she was
gone.
Akane reappeared in the Important Documents room and panicked.
<What? How did I get back? Where's Ukyou?!>
She then looked down and saw the book, lying innocently on the ground.
She picked up the book and read,
Then the young man appeared and rescued the girls from the dealers�
Akane was shocked, to say the least.
<How can this be?! That's exactly what happened to us!� Well, almost
exactly>
Intrigued, Akane sat down and began to read�
The girl ran after the young man, determined to find out what has
happened to her friend�

Konan Country
Ukyou tried to keep up with the so-called Ranma, he acted every bit like
he did in the real world, except he knew none of them and has a
completely different life style.
<Damn>, She thought to herself,<His speed is the same as ever, no, maybe
even faster, at this rate I won't be able to keep up with him.>
Suddenly, she stopped, awed by the sight ahead of her.
A grand city stood in front of her. People flowed through the city like
flood water and went about their business, the sheer number of people
amazed her, then she realized that she need to find Ranma and continued
on her search.
"Excuse me, but have you seen a young man with a pig-tail, wearing a red
shirt and black pants?"
"Sorry, never seen him"
"Excuse me�"
Dusk.
Ukyou, sat down on a crate, exhausted. She had searched through the
entire city ask about Ranma, since no one else here besides him has a
pigtail, she thought it'd be an easy task. Kami was she wrong. Ukyou
lay back, tired, cramped, and mad, then she started cursing Ranma.
::crrreaaaak::
She jumped to her feet and found herself surrounded by around eight men
or so, each with the predatory look of lust in their eyes.
"Well, look at the girl, she has a nice figure."
"Heh, I'd like to see it without the clothing."
"You had your turn with the last one, it my turn now."
"OH SHUT UP!! All of ya, get her down first and we'll all get a turn at
it."
With that, they rushed her.
<This is not good> , thought Ukyou, she wasn't used to multiple combat,
<No matter, fight your way out of this or you're gonna pay the hard way
girl!">
Just as two men was about to reach her, a blur passed by and they
dropped to the ground with a thump. Ukyou, startled, looked up at the
shadow, and recognized the familiar face.
"RAN-CHAN!"
Ranma spoke up, "Eight of you guys? Taking on _one_ girl? Yeah, proves
how damn strong you are!"
"Ya little punk, shut the hell up, we don't need a weakling like you
meddling in our fun!"
Wrong move.
Ranma was mad now, suddenly, a red letter lit up on his forehead. The
Chinese character Ogre.
"You assholes had better run now, I'm really pissed and don't want to
kill any of you." The iciness was evident
in Ranma's voice.
"HA! You kill us?! I like to see you tr.."
The man who was speaking flew into a wall, and kept going. The other
men suddenly felt that it was a good
time to run, NOW.

Ukyou turned to Ranma, words hanging on her lips but she couldn't say
anything.
They continued to stare at each other.
The sunlight brightens up until nothing can be seen.
Fade away to darkness.
End of 1st Chapter
Woo Hoo!! Damn, now I know how hard it is to write a fanfic!!
I know I made tons of mistakes and a lot of the stuff need to be refined
but hey, this
is after all, my first one. So give me a little breathing space.

Chapter 2: Suzaku no Miko

Ukyou stared at Ranma�
Ranma stared back at her�
�then she unsheathed her spatula and started beating on him.
"Dammit, what have you done with Akane?! Don't even think about trying
anything with me you damn jackass!!"
::CRASH:: ::BANG:: ::CRACK::
Ranma finally managed to grab the spatula away from Ukyou and tossed it
far far away.
"Hey listen to me!! I don't know where your friend went! All I did was
walk away and then I heard people talking about you wandering 'round
town looking for me so I came to look for you!"
Ukyou was about to yell back, then stopped and calmed herself down
<Relax Ukyou, he doesn't know where Akane is, it won't help to treat him
like the real Ranma either..>
"Well, how about this, you can at least help me find Akane, do we have a
deal?"
Ranma knelt down in front of her, a serious look on his face, and
motioned for her to bring her ear closer. Then he whispered a single
word and ran off immediately.
Ukyou chased after him, somehow wielding her spatula once again, and
threatened to seriously hurt him.

A fuming Akane screamed, "How dare that hentai not look for me?! Ohhh,
I'm gonna make him pay when I
find him."
Just then, Ranma-chan broke into the room through the window, "Eh?
Akane! You gotta help me, give me a place to hide!!"
::BOOM::
Akane slipped the mallet back into hammerspace, "Humph, he deserved it
anyway! Well, one good thing came from this, at least I can get some
light from that hole in the ceiling now."

Konan Country
People down the street stared while two people raced up and down the
various streets of Konan, hey wait, is the second figure waving around a
giant spatula?
"Why won't you help me?!.. Oh I get it now.. YOU'RE ONE OF THOSE GIRL
DEALERS AREN'T YOU?!"
"WHAT?!! You know as well as I do that I ain't a girl�"
Ranma stopped, suddenly aware of the crowd of people that their "little"
conversation had gathered.
"Hey, did you hear that?!"
"Honestly, in the middle of broad daylight!!"
"What has the world come to these days?"
Ranma grabbed Ukyou and ran.
Ukyou smirked, "So, you gonna help me now? If you don't, I just tell
everyone you're a girl dealer."
"What the hell?! I AM NOT A GIRL DEALER!!"
"I know that.."
Ranma came to a sudden stop and just dropped Ukyou on to the ground,
hard. Then he started walking away.
"What is your problem?! Why won't you help?! And you call yourself a
MAN?!"
Ukyou, frustrated, screamed out at Ranma. Ranma came to a stop in front
of her; slowly, he turned and faced her.
"Shit, what a rotten thing to say. Guess I gotta help you or else
you'll be following me all day eh?"
"Good!! I see you finally got some common sense into you!"
"By the way, what's your name anyway? And how do you know my birth
name?"
"Kuonji Ukyou, and I'd rather not answer the second question right now."
"Well, ok, though my name's Ranma, everyone here calls me Tamahome, it's
a sort of nickname that everyone gave me."
"HEY YOU THERE!! Out of the way! The emperor's carriage is heading this
way!"
True to the words, a troop of soldiers appeared, surrounding a carriage
draped with silk curtains. A figure can be seen inside, though no one
can get a good look at what his face really looks like. The people
gasped and were awed by the sight of the exquisitely designed carriage
and the sheer number of valuable jewels that were engraved into it.
Ranma simply drooled at the sight.
Ukyou, looking at Ranma pathetic sight, asked, "Hey Ranma, you ok there?
You seem.. a little out of it."
When no response came, she hit him, then thought to herself, <Great,
just what I needed, I'm becoming like Akane.>
Ranma finally snapped out of his trance and replied, "Take a look at
those jewel on the carriage, just one can bring in a incredible amount
of money!"
"Is money all you care about?! If you want one so much, why don't you
just go and ask him for one ne?", she spoke in a sarcastic tone.
It was then that someone gave Ukyou a push, causing her to stumble into
the path of the carriage. Seeing that she was going to fall down hard,
her reflexes kicked in and she grabbed on to one of the loosely hanging
curtains.
And then the entire curtain came with her, at the same time tipping the
carriage a bit. The result was quite unnerving.
An enraged soldier yelled out, "You bitch!! How dare you be so
unrespectable to the emperor?!"
So, the guards did what they thought they should do. They rushed at
her, weapons unsheathed, and ready to capture or kill her, either way,
they didn't care.
It was then when the area suddenly was covered with smoke, Ranma darted
in to the fray and out with Ukyou in his arms. Ukyou found herself
panicking, this is exactly what she had wanted before, Ranma coming to
her rescue and the pledging his eternal love to her�
<Well, so this isn't exactly what I had in mind at the time, but it good
enough, now to take advantage of the situation>, Ukyou thought.
As she continued to think of the possible results, she failed to notice
what Ranma was doing.
Then she finally realized what was happening.
Ranma had leaned in and kissed her fully on the lips, her mind
immediately went into shock when the event
finally registered. Her eyes suddenly adopted a glazed-over look.
Ranma simply smiled, "Heh, forget about money, I already got my payment
for helping you in advance."

Akane cracked her knuckles, <Yes! Ranma will most definitely DIE the
next time I see him, Ranma no baka, that damn hentai, how dare he have
an affair with Ukyou?! Yes, he WILL die a painful death�>
The room was soon filled with a chilling bluish glow�

Konan Country
Ranma held Ukyou in his arms with the greatest of care, they continued
to stare deeply into each others' eyes, unmoving. If people saw this,
they would actually consider this scene to look quite romantic.
Too bad it didn't last.
The guards broken the scene when they rushed in with their weapons, as a
sword was just about to descend upon Ukyou's head, a wave of red light
burst out from her body.
As people watched, Ukyou started to fade away in Ranma's arms. Soon,
she disappeared from sight.
Ukyou found herself floating in nothingness, she saw glimpses of her
life pass before her eyes, finally, the image of Akane in the library
reading the book settled in front of her eyes.
"Akane!! Can you hear me?! It's me, Ukyou!!"
Akane just read on, oblivious to Ukyou's existence in the room.
It was then that Ukyou saw a familiar red flash, sure as ever, the same
fire bird appeared in front of her and flew off with a shrilling
screech. A single red feather found a home on top of Ukyou's head and
then quickly faded away.
The nest thing she knew, she was back in Ranma's arms among the now
bewildered guards.
"D-Did you see that?! The girl attempted to disappear!!"
"It must be vile magic!!"
"Kill them! The witch and her evil companion must be destroyed!!"
A single phrase from the figure in the carriage stopped all action among
the guards.
"Capture them and take them to the prisons, I shall deal with them
personally."
"Yes Emperor!"

Imperial Prison
"Auuggghhh"
Ukyou awoke slowly, not used to the soft flesh that she was leaning
against..
<Waitaminute!! Flesh?!>
She looked up, only to see a slightly annoyed Ranma staring back down at
her. She felt like speaking her mind right then and expressed herself
in a perfect fashion�
"HENTAI!!"
"Hey it's not as if I planned to have that happen, I just woke up and
found you attached to me."
"Well� it's� well�"
"Alright, let's not worry ourselves over that right now, I'd rather
figure out a way to get out of this dump."
For the first time, Ukyou surveyed her surroundings. They were in a
small cellblock, one corner was padded with hay and blankets, several
food items lay on the floor ahead of them. Overall, it didn't seem that
bad.
Of course, that fact that they were captured by guards, and put into
that cellblock for no good reason didn't help that idea.
Ranma started talking, "Looks like we'll be stuck in here for a while,
better make yourself comfortable."
"Sigh, I guess you're right." With that, she sat down and felt a small
lump in her pocket. Searching through her pockets, she uncovered a
small flour bomb that she always carried with her for some reason. As
she gazed at the packet, a plan began to unveil in her mind.
"Hey you!! The incompetent guy that's on watch, get over here!"
The guard never knew what hit him. A white cloud just exploded at the
spot where he was standing, a pair of hand reached out from under the
bars, tripped him, and grabbed his keys. Shortly after, the unfortunate
guard lay unconscious in the cell, bound and gagged, while white
footprints lead to the interior of the palace�

Konan Imperial Palace
Be quick.
Be quiet.
Oh yeah, and don't screw up!
Thoughts ran through Ukyou's mind as she sped down the hallway with
Ranma by her side. So far, no guards spotted them, so far that is. As
they prepared to round a corner, voices traveled down it, instinctively,
they each dodged into separate rooms.
Ranma sighed, and thanked the kami for his good luck. Then he turned
around�
� only to find himself facing a total of around thirty guards.
<Life really sucks right now.> was the last thought that went through
his mind when he managed to burst through a window and ran; the guards
hot on his tail.
Ukyou found herself in a darkened room, as her eyes became adjusted to
the darkness, she looked around the room. It seems to be a sort of
temple, designs surrounded her, in the center of the room, a golden
statue rested. When she finally got a good view of the statue, her
heart nearly stopped.
It was the statue of the fire bird.
After a few moments of examining the statue, she decided that it would
be for the best if she didn't remain in here for long and exited the
room through a small side door.

Several minutes later�
Ukyou found herself in a large courtyard. Looking around, she was
utterly out of ideas as she was completely lost. A voice suddenly spoke
up behind her, making her jump.
"Excuse me fair maiden, but art thou lost?"
She turned slowly and saw a man sitting on the railing, dressed in a
simple white robe.
<He really is very handsome.> she thought.
"W-Who are you?" she stuttered out. <And more importantly, are you going
to summon any guards.>
"The man's eyes twinkled in amusement, "Heed no worries, fair maiden, I
won't notify the guards. To get out of this courtyard and into the
city, toward that direction."
"T-Thanks, mister..?"
"Hotohori, but my birth name is Kirin."
Just then, a troop of guards appeared, with Ranma in their toll, as soon
as they noticed her, shouts were soon heard in the air.
"There's the girl!"
"What the hell are you standing there for?! Get her!"
Several guards immediately made their way to Ukyou. They never even
reached her before they fell, not knowing what strange force of nature
had disabled them.
Ranma stood over the fallen guards, the ogre character a blazing red on
his forehead.
"If any of you bastards touch her, I'll KILL you!!"
"STOP THIS AT ONCE!! ALL OF YOU!!"
The guards glanced over to the source of the voice, and immediately
dropped to their knees.
"Emperor!"

"Emperor?"
A wild-eyed Ranma dropped down to the ground along with the guards.
Ukyou just stood there, too many surprises in a single day tends to do
that to a person.
Kirin made his way to Ranma and Ukyou, "No need to show respect, please
come along with me."
Ukyou and Ranma were led to the throne room. The advisors and
government officials were already gathered in a large mass surrounding
Kirin.
Kirin was elegant, to say the least of it. He definitely stood out from
all of the others. It was then that he announced what he thought of the
situation.
"Our legends have come true, for this maiden, descending from another
world, is the protector of our country, Suzaku no Miko!"
General murmurs of disbelief arose from the council.
"Suzaku no Miko? But emperor, how do we know for sure that she is truly
the chosen one?"
"As the Shi Jin Ten Chi scroll stated, a maiden with foreign clothing
will descend to our realm, become Suzaku no Miko, and bring peace at
last to Konan Country."
All eyes fell upon Ukyou, causing her to become nervous under all the
sudden attention.
"So Ukyou, do you wish to accept the responsibilities and carry on the
role of miko?"
Several minutes passes as Ukyou was lost in her own thoughts.
<Become Suzaku no Miko? The protector of this country? I'm only a high
school student� can .. no, will I be able to handle this?>
"Ukyou, have you decided yet?"
<This may be worth it though, if I summon Suzaku, I can have anything I
want!> She glances toward Ranma.
<I won't deny this, I still and always have feeling for Ranma, being
here, with.. ..him makes me feel safe, even though he barely knows me in
this world, but that means I can start over with him�. Doesn't it?>
"Ukyou? Hey, ya there?"
<Alright!! I'll do it!!>
"Yes! I'll accept the offer! I'll become Suzaku no Miko!!"
Kirin rose from his seat, "To all that are here, this fair maiden is
Suzaku no Miko, our protector!!"
Ukyou stepped outside and her jaw dropped.
The entire city has gathered in the courtyard and bowed before her. All
of them were chanting her name, praising the gods for sending her to
them finally.
Ukyou smiled. <This would certainly become interesting.>

Chapter 3: The Seven Seishi of Suzaku

The girl accept the full duties of becoming the Miko of Suzaku�
<Is Ukyou really the legendary girl mentioned? Then what about me?! I
was also there too!..>

Konan Imperial Palace Grounds
Ukyou, Ranma, and Kirin were gathered in a small conference room. After
Ukyou accepted the duty of becoming Suzaku no Miko, Kirin now tells of
how the ceremony and legend can be completed.
"In order to summon our god, Miko must find the seven champions of
Suzaku, each representing a constellation of the south. There is
Chichiri, Mitsukake, Chiriko, Tasuki, Nuriko, Tamahome; who
incidentally, is your companion here, and finally Hotohori."
At the end of the speech, Kirin pulls back his collar, revealing a red
character, Star, on his neck,"As I have said before, Hotohori is I,
destined to be a seishi and to protect Miko."
To say that Ranma was shocked was an understatement. Ukyou, instead
spoke up.
"Well, where can we find the other seishi?"
"The Suzaku seishi are scattered about the lands of Konan, and as Miko,
it is your duty to find them. Once all the seishi have been gathered, a
ceremony will be performed to summon Suzaku."
"Well then, do you think any seishi are currently at this palace?"
Moments later�
"Here are all the soldiers of this Palace, anyone of them may be a
seishi."
Ranma was grinning, "Heh, then please allow me to test them out for you,
Hotohori-sama!"
And with that, he leapt into action. Or more accurately, he started
beating the crap out of everyone. People went flying everywhere,
sprawled over the ground, and in a huge amount of pain.
Unnoticed, from a far corner, a single figure stood, watched, and
smiled.
"Aww� too bad, seems none of these guys are seishi, heh, and now, let's
test the ladies!"
<HA! I hope the rest of the seishi are all beautiful women!>
Kirin sweated, "Honestly Tamahome, must you show off your superior
skills?"
Just then, one of the soldiers managed to peel himself off the ground
and heaved his hammer at Ranma as a last ditch effort. It would have
been a good attack� that is, if it had been aimed correctly.
The hammer headed straight toward a pillar, when it connected, the
pillar simply shattered under the force. Unfortunately, the pillar was
also supporting the ceiling of a small hut, which coincidentally, was
also the spot where Ukyou was sitting and watching the fight.
Ranma made a mad dash for Ukyou, though in his mind, he already knew he
was going to be too late.
Then the ceiling collapsed.

Akane gasped as a sudden pain shot up her leg, she quickly examined it,
discovering that the cloth over the
spot was covered with spots of blood.
With a great effort, she managed to read on�
Miko was unconscious, then as she awoke, she discovered her leg was in
great pain�

Konan Imperial Palace
Ukyou woke and immediately regretted it, her leg was crushed under a
pillar and the debris surrounding her looked as if they are going to
fall anytime soon. Then she looked up.
Ranma was kneeling directly in front of her, supporting the debris with
his own body, the ogre character emitting a piercing light. Sweat
rolled from his forehead, as he was struggling to keep the ceiling from
collapsing completely.
"Ranma!!"
"Arrgg� shit! I can't support this much longer!"
Meanwhile..
Kirin rushed to the disaster site, trying desperately to lift the debris
but failing.
"Ukyou!!! Oh kami!! I pray that she's okay!"
A voice then sounded behind him.
"Please emperor, let me handle this."
With that, Kirin could watch as a young woman walked up to the debris
and started picking up the various heavy pieces and tossed them away
with the greatest of ease. Of course, she did manage to crush several
other people but no one really noticed.
As the final pillar was removed, Ranma felt a great relief at his
shoulder and turned to thank the rescuer. And all he did was stare at
the woman who just showed an unbelievable amount of strength.
Later�
Ukyou's leg was being bandaged up by the court doctor while Kirin
questioned the young woman. It was then that Kirin noticed the slight
mark showing over the woman's neck. He reached to confirm his believes
and got a slap in return.
"Emperor!! I didn't know that you were the lecherous kind!!"
Blushing, Kirin replied, "No! It's not what you think! I meant only to
check that mark near you shoulder."
Surprised, the woman revealed the mark, the character willow was
embedded into the delicate skin, and then replied.
"I have heard the announcement of the Suzaku seishi, as you can see, I
am clearly one of them; my name is Konatsu, however my seishi name is
Nuriko."
Ranma, finally out of his daze, yelled out
"So the third seishi is a woman? KAMI!! I hope the rest are like her!!"
Thus, he earned a beating from a giant spatula.

Ukyou sat in her room washing away the bloodstains on her uniform, and
all the time she was lost in thought.
<So, Ranma likes that woman eh? WELL!! So be it then, he's an
insensitive baka anyway!!�.. Kami, I really need some time away from
Akane don't I?>
"��"
<But, I still love Ranma.. when he rushed to me and supported that
ceiling�. Could it mean that he�>
Ukyou was still unaware of her surroundings when footsteps approached
her door..
Ranma burst into her room at full speed and immediately ducked under the
bed.
"Ranma, just what are you doing?"
"Shh!!! Don't talk!! Nuriko's after me, if ya see her don't tell her
that I'm here!!"
Just then, the door was opened once again, this time by Konatsu rushed
in and started questioning Ukyou at an incredible rate.
"Ukyou!! Where is Tama-chan? Did you hide him anywhere? How dare he
run from me? Why does he ignore me so? I am, after all , more
beautiful than all other women around here, come to think of it,
especially you. Sigh, why would Tama-chan be interested in you anyway?
He must be misguided."
Ukyou developed a bright red battle aura�
"Look here Konatsu", She replied in a acid tone, "Ranma is not here, not
now at least , so if you would kindly get out of my room and go
elsewhere, I would gladly appreciate it!"
With that, she punted Konatsu out of the window.

"Now then Ranma, can you tell me why Konatsu's after you?!"
"She's been after me all the time since that accident! I can't do a
thing about i.. mrrphh!!"
Ukyou looked up and saw Konatsu wrap Ranma up like a mummy with a
ribbon, then she just dragged him out of the door. "Come Tama-chan, we
can be alone without her interfering!"
At this point, Ukyou became extremely jealous and was about to explode
when she remembered that Konatsu is, after all, a Suzaku seishi.
<So I need to get on her good side eh? But she just makes me so
furious!!! �Sigh, well, looks like I really don't have much of a choice
here now do I?>
At Konatsu's room�
"You want to become my maid?"
Gritting her teeth, "Y-Yes, I want us to be able to work together."
<Ohhh!!! This woman is so�>
Sitting the back of a squirming Ranma, Konatsu grinned with amusement,
"Very well then, you're expected to do whatever I say, now brush my
hair."
Minutes later�
"I TOLD you to clean up this mess!! Look, there's another dirty spot
right there!! You must be the most clumsy girl I have ever seen!!"
"WHAT were you thinking?! I told you to arrange these scrolls by date!!
Now rearrange these once again, correctly this time!!"
The she proceeded to throw various furniture and blunt items at Ukyou.

At a hallway near the local pond, Ukyou sat and thought deeply�
<KAMI!! The woman makes me sick!! She is a stuck-up bitch!!>
�ok, she cursed like hell at Konatsu.
"ARRGGHHHHH!!!! Why did she have to be one of the seishi?!"
Ukyou then proceeded to beat up on an object on the ground, of course,
it took her a while to realize it was Ranma, bound and gagged.
Later�
"Ow� didn't you even see me there?! And why did ya hafta use that huge
spatula?!"
"Gomen, didn't see you're there� and hey!! Weren't you enjoying
yourself with Konatsu? Why don't you just go back to her now?! Seeing
that you like her so much!"
"HA!! You actually think that I like her? Gimme a break! She is way
too obsessive and she treats me as if I'm not even human!.."
"Besides, I already have someone else on my mind�"
"You mean.. you don't like her?"
"Of course I don't, any why are you asking me all these questions?"
"Well�"
"�Eh? Could it be?! You're jealous!'
"I AM NOT!"
"Heh, I don't blame you, I'm strong, fast, and handsome; sigh, no wonder
so many women fall for me."
<Yep, as arrogant as ever, that's Ran-chan for you, still the same
personality>Ukyou thought.
The view pans further into the background, where behind a pillar,
Konatsu's figure can be seen running away from the hallway�
The sun casts a gorgeous red over the two figures left, the light grows
intense and nothing can be seen�
Fade to darkness�

Chapter 4: Uneven Communications

Night�
Konatsu is leaning against the railing outside of her room. Ukyou is
currently inside, arranging and dusting the various furniture.
The silence is broken by Konatsu's voice..
"Ukyou? Could you come here for a moment? I have something to ask you
of."
"Eh? What do you want me to do now?"
Konatsu hold out her hand, in her palm is a masterfully crafted earring,
"My mother gave me a pair of earrings when I can to live at the Imperial
Court, now they are the only things that I remember her by. Today, when
I was at the pond, I accidentally dropped the other one, it would mean a
lot to me if you can find the other one for me."
With that, tears formed in her eyes.
Ukyou was compelled to agree.

Kirin walked with several other advisors through the garden.
"But emperor, you are already nineteen, now is a perfect time for you to
wed one of the princesses in the Court."
Kirin stopped and let out a long sigh.
"I am not attracted to any of those women, simply because I am much more
beautiful than they ever will be."
As expected, sweat beads rolled down every advisor's head.
So they continued to walk on while thoughts went through Kirin's head..
<Perhaps it is time, if only Ukyou will return my love�>

Meanwhile, Ukyou was busy look beneath various plants, looking for a
small glitter that would enable her to complete her task.
So far, she failed to find anything even resembling an earring.
Annoyed, she decided to wade through the shallow areas of the pond,
thinking that the earring may have been dropped into the cool water.
She tripped on some weeds and found out the pond was a lot deeper than
she had thought.
The water level quickly went over her head and she was tangled up in a
clump of weeds, holding her down like iron chains�

Akane found herself suddenly drenched in water,
"Oh great, just what the hell is going on?
As she caught a glimpse of the next phrase in the book, her face
immediately turned to that of a curious expression.
Suzaku no Miko tripped over the slick weeds and fell into the pond, the
water quickly immersed her�
<Could everything that's happening to Ukyou be happening to me too? If
so.. why?..>

Ranma awoke with a start.
His forehead glistened with sweat, somehow sensing something is wrong,
he muttered one word and hurried out of his room.
"Ukyou.."

Konatsu was in her room, laughing for all she's worth,
"That little idiot fell straight for it! She never even suspected a
thing!! Ah� Now that I'm finally rid of that pest, I wonder what to do
now..?"
She would have went on rambling, if she hadn't noticed Ranma standing
directly at the entrance to her room.
"Tama-chan?!"
"What did you do Nuriko..? Tell me!!!"
"Oh nothing at all, just got rid of that little pest Ukyou, she's
probably resting at the bottom of the pond right now."
"H..How could you�"
Ranma turns and runs for the pond, only to be stopped by an incredibly
strong grip on his arm.
"Look!! Why do you go after her?! She isn't worth it!!"
"If you think so, then why do you constantly try to get rid of her?!"
"You want a reason?! Fine!! Because she now stands between
Hotohori-sama and me!! I see him looking at her with that look in his
eyes!! I need to be rid of her! T-That's the only reason that I try to
get close to you.."
"Oh is that so?"
Ranma and Konatsu both turned to the source of the voice.
Ukyou stood in the doorway, dripping wet, slowly and calmly, she walked
up to Konatsu.
"So you were in love with Kirin all this time?"
"..."
"I'll take that as a yes, but why hold a grudge against me?"
"B-Because you were standing in our way!! I know you have feelings for
him!! Otherwise.."
"Look, I just want you to know that I won't stand between you and Kirin,
so you can stop being so jealous and just quit this senseless fight."
Ukyou then took out a small earring from her pocket,
"Here, it may not be a beautiful as yours but take it, I just want this
petty argument to end, after all, we'll be working together from now on
and the seishi should at least cooperate with the Miko."
Konatsu was at a loss for words. So, she did the first thing that came
to mind; she threw Ranma and Ukyou out of her room, then she slammed
shut the door and cried.

Kirin's room�
Ukyou can be seen talking to Kirin.
"So I just want you to know that there's a woman in this palace that
loves you very much and you should
begin to notice her."
Kirin was emotionless.
"�Ukyou, do you love anyone?"
Now Ukyou was beginning to fidget.
"Well� let's not talk about me, after all, we're here to talk about you,
ne?"
Kirin now turns toward Ukyou, an unreadable expression on his face.
"Ukyou� ever since I heard about the legend of Suzaku no Miko, I have
always wondered, about what this person may be like. Now, I truly know
about you, and I have a confession to make, I am not, nor I ever will be
interested in the other girls, you are the one that I have longed after
for so many years.."
Ukyou nearly fainted.

The emperor, Hotohori-sama, confessed his love to Suzaku no Miko�
"What?! Now she's the one with all the suitors after her?!"

Ukyou sat on Kirin's bed, her eyes staring directly at the steadily
approaching Kirin.
Kirin leaned in, all thoughts concentrated on Ukyou�
It was then that he suddenly stopped, and walked to a curtain nearby.
Upon reaching there, he unsheathed his sword, took three quick slices at
the curtain, and stood.
The curtain fell apart, revealing Konatsu and Ranma, apparently they've
drilled a hole through the other side of the wall and both were
concentrating on the conversation that went on between Ukyou and Kirin.
Upon their discovery, the two closed their eyes, did a silly little
dance, and tried to escape while keeping up the act; however, they were
stopped by a sword pointing in their direction.
"Tamahome, I have given you permission to stay at the Imperial Palace,
but I never permitted you to commit acts such as this."
"Gomen Hotohori-sama."
Ukyou, seeing the opportunity, spoke up, "Well, since this is such a
awkward time, I'll just be retiring to my room right now, ja ne."
"It is not necessary Ukyou, you can stay here for the night, Tamahome,
Nuriko, we first need to have a little discussion."

Morning..
A red �eyed Ukyou sat on the bed, mumbling phrases about insomnia�
Ukyou quickly dressed and was strolling in the elaborate hallway when
she bumped into Ranma.
"Oh gomen, morning Ranma."
"S'okay, see ya�"
With that, Ranma continued down the hall, various phrases about business
could be heard coming from his direction.
Ukyou only stared at his disappearing form, <Just like that? I bet he's
still mad, or confused about last night..>
Ukyou was interrupted by a large demon head � lurking directly behind
her surrounded by flames of sorts.
"UKYOU!!!" Konatsu screamed, "You said that you weren't interested in
Hotohori-sama!!! And how dare you sleep in his room last night?!!"
Konatsu then proceeded to trample over Ukyou and chase after Tamahome,
"Tama-chan!! Going into the city? Take me too.."
Ukyou clenched her fists, <She's only trying to make me mad� She's only
trying to make me mad.. I will now follow them� I will not follow
them..>

While Ranma and Konatsu wandered around in the vast crowd, Ukyou had
borrowed some clothing from a palace maid and is now silently following
the pair.
Konatsu looked to her left, then whispered to Ranma, "She's following
us."
Ranma, obviously annoyed, replied, "Feh, you think I wouldn't notice
her?!"
Of course, Ukyou was very well disguised, if only she had remembered
that her giant spatula was still strapped on her back�
Ranma, having reached his destination, quickly bounded up the stairs and
into a large stage area.
"Hey minna-san, listen up here!!" Ranma yelled out, "Have I got some
good merchandise for you today!!"
He then proceeded to whip out several of Ukyou's throwing spatulas out
of his shirt,
"You all know about Suzaku no Miko right?"
A person shouted from the crowd, "Yeah!! Practically the entire city
knows, what about her?!"
"Ranma smirked, "Well, it just so happens that what I have in my hand
right now are items previously belonging to Suzaku no Miko!!"
Down in the crowd, Ukyou muttered, "You mean still belonging to me!!
BAKA!!"
"Now then, just how much do you expect for these valuable items to
sell?! Well, today shall be your lucky day, I'll sell these precious
treasures at the price of one silver ryou each!!"
After several moments of excitement in the crowd, one person shouted,
"Hey you!! How do we know for sure that those are actually real?! You
just might be trying to con us!!"
That comment brought him a swift punch to his side, Konatsu then grabbed
his collar and shouted, "How dare you?! Are you saying that Tama-chan
is lying?!!"
Another bystander spoke, "Well, we don't know for sure unless he shows
us some proof!!"
By now the crowd is quickly growing restless and is demanding that Ranma
shows proof that the items are real.
Ranma began to sweat.

A single voice rose from the crowd.
Ukyou shouted, "I can prove that he is telling the truth!! I am Suzaku
no Miko!!"
The surprised crowd cut open a path in the center from which Ukyou can
be seen, murmurs arose from the crowd.
"Is that really the girl?!"
"Yes!! It is!! I remember seeing her that day when the emperor was
passing through!!"
"I told you the kid up there wasn't lying!!"
Ranma, taking the opportunity, ran up to Ukyou and flashed off a pair of
shades, "Now then, to shake hands with Miko, that'll be two gold ryou,
line u� wah!!"
Ranma never finished his speech, seeing that the crowd rushed in and
started to tackle them, he and Ukyou ducked under the crowd and ran like
hell.

A small alley..
Ranma and Ukyou leaned against a wall, trying to catch their breath.
Ukyou gave Ranma a questioning look and was about to speak when another
voice began.
"Hey you two, this is our turf you're on, so if you gonna do business
here, you gotta pay us the fee to let you
do so, got it?!"
They looked, up, spotting several men, along with their leader, staring
straight at them.
Ranma replied, "Well, since we didn't make a single coin, we'll just be
heading on our way now.."
The leader, with a red face, screamed, "Listen to me dammit!! Since you
can't pay up, we'll just have to take the girl as payment then!!"
A smaller person, walked up to the pair and looked Ukyou over with
greedy eyes, "Say, you seem like a good business man here, how's about I
pay you forty gold ryou for the girl eh?
Ranma, now angry, shouted, "Of course not!! You think I'm that big of an
idiot?!.."
Ukyou stared at him, her hopes rising again..
"You gotta at least pay me fifty gold ryou for her�"
And all feelings of happiness turned to bitterness toward Ranma.
The gang all took out weapons of all sort and start stalking toward the
two then.
Ranma immediately leapt into action, felling two people as he passed
them, he then started towards the leader of the gang.
Ukyou was hold out her own against two people, she gracefully broke
through their defense and soon later, the two men lay on the ground in a
heap.
Ranma, his character now shining on his forehead like a fire, continued
to finish off the remaining thugs.
Just then, lightning flashed and thunder rolled in the dark skies, rain
began to fell drop by drop�
�and standing in Ranma's place was another figure, a smaller and more
"shapely" figure.
Ranma-chan stood in her place and stared a Ukyou, the expression a mix
of anger and sadness.
Ukyou felt hot as she slipped to the ground, unconscious, the world a
blur in front of her eyes, her last vision was of Ranma-chan running
towards her, shouting her name�.
The vision gives away and fades into darkness�
