*sigh*  Still missed some.  Ah, well... that's what I get for writing this
while watching television at the same time... (for those of you who want to
know what I was watching, note that the show was also sort of what inspired
this fics' plot- Xena:  Warrior Princess (stupid show, but since my
co-workers talk about it all the time (one of them has a sister who is a
Gabrielle look-alike, apparently) I feel I need to see what it's like)
Question, though... are contractions of two one-syllable words considered
breaking the challenge?  I hadn't thought so, because of the number of fics
which seemed to be 'passing' without comment on it, but since I recieved a
couple complaints, I tried to fix it where I could.
Oh, and those who want to know who she's talking to, and who the girl is...
make up your own minds.  One thing about reading instead of watching TV or
listening to the radio is it's supposed to use more of your imagination. 
-I-, of course, had to decide who this fic was about before writing it, but
you don't need to know who I had in mind...
Oh, and to the one person who suggested I continue this... um, UY is not
really my favorite anime\manga series (and neither is Ranma, but Ranma is
the easiest one for me to come up with usable fanfic ideas for- hard to
come up with Slayers fanfic ideas.  And I do like Ranma just fine...) and
I've already got (counts on fingers) 5.2 long series and about a dozen
shortfics\short series to write ahead of this... (the .2 is Return of the
Sisters, which is... suspended, temporarily.  See the mail I'm sending out
marked 'Author Requested for Side Story') This was just something I was
able to jot down in a few minutes while watching TV, I don't think I could
turn it into a series without a LOT of work...

One Syllable Challenge Fanfic

me.  Hence, all the characters in this story belong to her too... though I
doubt this is what she had in mind for them.

Author's notes:  LIME...  Well, I tried...  By the way, this is in first
person present (heh... helps with the syllables) which is something I'm not
used to.  Ah, well...

The love of my life is in front of me.  He looks as shy as a small boy with
a girl on his first date.  I wish he will make me feel as good as he would
make that girl...

"Lum," he says, "This is... hard to ask.  I want to know, though... you are
not... that is, are you..."  He takes a deep breath and then he blurts out
what is on his mind.  "If it meant you could love me, can you be a... 
Could you be bi?"

"Wh..."  I try once more.  "What did you say?"

"If it meant you could love me, would you make love to some girls as well
as me?"

"Why?" I squeak.

"Well... see, it has come to the point where I can not live with HER not...
not in my life.  And, I found out at lunch... she likes girls.  And...
well, she thinks that you... are cute."  I blink.  I had no clue she felt
that way... and no clue she felt that way for me.  "She said... I can love
her, as I want... as long as she can... well, have you at times.  Which...
well, I don't mind... I find you... cute... too.  I could love you, too, I
think... but not that way... at least, not if I don't see if she and I
would work out.  So, I ask you one more time... could you be bi, with HER,
if it meant you could love me?"

I don't know what to say at first... I don't care for... HER.  To make LOVE
to her... for him... well, that's a bit much.  Still... this man is the one
I love... the one I will one day be wed to.  If that means I must love a
girl I hate for him... then...

"Yes."

Hmm... Hard to keep in character when I can only use one syllable words. 
Ah, well... here's my submission...
(By the way, I don't particularly like Lum, but she was the first
one-syllable anime name I could think of, so I built a story around her
name... not too good, but what do you expect?)
