I found this on my hard drive... this is one of my ancient fics.  Well,
it's not really THAT old.  It's on my web page now.  This could also
become a major fic... quite easily.

P.S.  In honor of my birthday, July 12th, I have updated my web page

Relative Insanity
A Ranma 1/2 Fanfic

	Soun stared at the postcard in his hands, the tears were already
welling up in his eyes.  He hadn't known his wife's sister well, but she
had been family.  He ran through the house, the tears streaming down his
face.  He had not felt the pain of losing his wife as strongly as he did
now for quite some time.  "Kasumi!  Nabiki! Akane!  Ranma! Come here
please, I have something important to tell you."
	In short order, four girls were present in front of him.  One of whom
was soaking wet and rather pissed off.  Kasumi spoke up first.  "What is
it, Father?"
	Soun wiped the tears from his eyes as he began reading from the
postcard he had recieved.  "Dear Mr. Tendo, we regret to inform you of
the recent passing of your late wife's sister, Mariko.  As her husband
has been dead for quite some time, she has entrusted to you the care of
her son."  Soun stopped reading as the water from his eyes had caused
the boys name to become illegible.  He himself hadn't even finished
reading it yet.  He lowered the postcard and watched his daughters
reactions. Nabiki was surprisingly... vocal.  "We had an aunt we didn't
even know about.  Who was she, why didn't we know that she existed?"
	Soun stopped to gather himself before he responded.   " Mariko was your
mother's older sister, she traveled to China as a young woman and fell
in love with a man there.  As she wanted to marry him, she was forced to
remain within the village.  Your mother had often sent her letters,
speaking of you girls.  But she never recieved any replies.  From what
pictures I saw of her, she looked much like you Akane."  He finished
with a weak smile.  Earning a slight blush from the youngest Tendo. 
"Her son is coming meet us, he may be needing a place to stay."
	"So, like, when's this guy gonna arrive anyway?"  asked the, now male,
Ranma.
	"He should be here any minute now."  The doorbell rang after Soun
finished his statement.  Kasumi rose and walked towards the door.  When
she opened it she gasped, and numbly guided the new family member into
the den.  Reaction's differed at seeing the familiar face, knowing that
he was a Tendo now.  He chuckled slightly as he spoke.
	"Hello there, fem-boy."

Author's reasons:  This was inspired after reading the FAQ at the
"Shrine to Pantsuto Tarou" which pointed out that Tarou's mother looked
much like Akane.  I thought, maybe it's Akane's aunt or something. 
Technically, I don't think this is an alterniverse.  Unless it's stated
in the manga that neither Soun nor his wife had any brother's or
sisters.
