Hmm... I've seen a lot of these challenge-responses lately.  Hopefully this
won't be banned, like the adfics were, before I get this out... (though I
admit, the flood of adfics were getting annoying before the end...)

One Syllable Challenge Fanfic

Disclaimer:  Ureshii Yatsura belongs to its creator, Rumiko Takahashi, not
me.  Hence, all the characters in this story belong to her too... though I
doubt this is what she had in mind for them.

Author's notes:  LIME...  Well, I tried...  By the way, this is in first
person present (heh... helps with the syllables) which is something I'm not
used to.  Ah, well...

The love of my life is in front of me.  He looks as shy as a small boy
asking a girl on his first date.  I wish he will make me as happy as he
would make that girl...

"Lum," he says, "This is... not easy to ask.  I want to know, though... you
aren't... that is, are you..."  He takes a deep breath before he blurts out
what is on his mind.  "If it meant you could love me, can you be a... 
Could you be bi?"

"Wh..."  I try again.  "What did you say?"

"If it meant you could love me, would you make love to some other woman as
well as me?"

"Why?" I squeek.

"Well... see, it has come to the point where I can't bring myself to live
without... HER.  And, I found out during lunch... she likes girls.  And...
well, she thinks that you... are cute."  I blink.  I had no clue she felt
that way... and no clue she felt that way about me.  "She said... I can
love her, as I want... but only if she can... well, have you at times. 
Which... well, I don't mind... I find you... cute... too.  I could even
love you, I think... but not that way... at least, not if I don't see if
she and I would work out.  So, I ask you again... could you be bi, with
HER, if it meant you could love me?"

I don't know what to say at first... I don't even care about... HER.  To
make LOVE to her... even for him... well, that's a bit much.  Still... this
man is the one I love... the one I will eventually be wed to.  If that
means I must love a woman I hate for him... then...

"Yes."

Hmm... Hard to keep in character when I can only use one syllable words. 
Ah, well... here's my submission...
(By the way, I don't particularly like Lum, but she was the first
one-syllable anime name I could think of, so I built a story around her
name... not too good, but what do you expect?)
