of the finger. It literally means F-off. So when Chruchill made is V 

for

Victory sign, he was basically also cursing out Hitler. (Isn't 

pointless

knowledge fun)

Actually, it depends on which way your palm is facing. The V-sign is 
victory if made with the palm facing out, and a rude gesture if made 
with palm facing in(I've got a fair share of pointless knowledge too).
