The problem is that the same topics get rehashed quite often. Nobody
wants to see another "Who's the better fighter, Ranma or Ryouga?" thread
for example. That's why a number of topics are banned in the FAQ.
Including character debates.

is true). Anything that threads for more than three days. Anything that
Tybalt says should go private or believes nobody else needs to hear (FAN
MISCONCEPTIONS).
Yes, the moderators and owner of the list have the right to decide what is
banned. Please remember that they allow us the _privilege_ of using
this mailing list.
What is a character debate? Whether such-and-such a character is
this-and-that, better than so-and-so, blah blah blah.
Fine. Fan-misconception-dispelling qualifies as spam. Add THAT to the
FAQ; it surely needs updating by now (whoever it is who's supposed to
maintain it).
Part of the problem here could be the title of the message. If you are no
longer arguing about "AKANE AND RANMA," then you should change the subject
tag. The comment about Akane's cooking sounds like a character slam in
conjunction with the subject of the post.
I don't think Tybalt would be upset about a discussion regarding
misconceptions. It pertains directly to how and what people write in
their fanfics and there's not really any favoritism involved in that
topic.
But no one can keep track of all the threads on this list. The character
debate part had already been banned, I believe, but your post may have
lead Tybalt to believe that it was continuing.
(I could be mistaken about any of this and I'm certainly not trying to
answer for Tybalt; I just felt that another end-user of the FFML should
give a response as well.)
As a final note, it can be annoying when a thread that you're enjoying is
banned. (And it's hard to keep threads alive via private mail -- probably
a good thing.) I know. I've been there. But the next time it happens,
try not to take it personally, as it sounds like you did this time. Take
a break between writing a response to the moderator and actually sending
it. (I'm about to do that with this post.)
It's just a suggestion, but a person rarely ends up swaying anyone with
their arguments when they're ranting.
