Actually, it's become cliche to say that Akane in the manga doesn't use
mallets.  That isn't true.

Akane uses mallets.  Ranma uses mallets.  Everybody uses mallets!  (Well,
not Kasumi obviously.)

Akane does use her fist, feet, swords, tables, whatever's handy as often
as not, though.
