Well, not really, since Ukyou and Ryouga never actually appear in the
story.
We don't see any of their real actions, only Ranma's (and Akane's)
memories
of them. It seems perfectly sensible under the circumstances that
Ranma
and Akane, stuck in an unhappy marriage, might tend to idealise Ukyou
and
Ryouga, respectively. (Actually, I rather like the symmetry of the
situation,
since, in the source material, Ukyou and Ryouga tend to idealise Ranma
and
Akane, respectively.)

Ah, good. I thought I was the only one to see this. _Of course_
people who are miserable in a current situation (marriage, job, etc)
will look back and see all the other opportunities that could have been,
and idealize them.

Which would make for an interesting continuation of this fic.
Imagine a "It's a Wonderful Life" approach, where both Akane and Ranma
are given the chance to go back and "correct" their mistake, and then
hyperspeed to this story's "present", but along the new timeline. How
would the reality compare to their current fantasies? Would they decide
that they had been better off, after all?
