Okay, I still haven't thought of a name for this thing, and I don't really
know where it's going. I'm just thinking it up as I go along. I'd like to
thank all the positive responses I got from my last chapter, and hope you
all enjoy this one too.

Street Fighter is owned by Capcom, and Ranma is owned by the omnipotent
Rumiko Takashi.

Ch 2:

Ryu wiped the sweat from his brow as he looked up at the majestic
snow-capped mountains before him. Shaking his head in disgust, he turned
away and travelled along the foothills, pausing every hour or so, looking
for a mountain pass.
"This is crazy," he muttered to himself. He looked over the hills from
the tree he was in. He was about to climb down, when he noticed a small
village nestled between two hills. It was set against a massive mountain,
which was almost totally covered in snow. "A good a place as any to ask
for directions."
I took him an hour to reach the village. As he approached the gates,
the sound of fighting could be heard from within. He entered, and was almost
knocked off his feet by a female fighter. She appeared to be reeling from
a hit by her attacker, and Ryu acted instictively. He brushed her aside,
avoiding a collision, but sent her careening into a stone wall. She
bounced off it and fell to the ground. Ryu immedately went to her side to
help her up.
"Er...sorry abou that, but - " His words were cut off as a studded
mace slammed through the wall beside his head. He jumped up and away,
landing in a combat stance.
A young woman, perhaps twenty years old, stood before him. She wore a
green tunic with golden dragons woven into the fabric. Her dark hair was
tied up into two buns, with short ponytails coming out. She glared at Ryu,
her face red with rage.
"<Insolent male!>" she exclaimed. "<How dare you interrupt a fight
between women!>"
Ryu frowned, put a hand to his ear and shook his head. She growled
and switched to Japanese. "You have interfeared in a fight between women!
I will teach you a lesson in manners, male." She stepped forward, her maces
at the ready.
"Whoa, hold on! What's going on here?" asked Ryu.
"Defend yourself!" She swung a viscious blow at his head. Ryu backed
away from the weapons.
"I don't know what you think you're doing, but - ahr!" He bit back
a cry of pain as one of the maces clipped his shoulder. "All right! You
want to fight, the come and get it!" Ducking a mace, he stepped inside the
woman's guard and gave her a blow to the midriff, following up by spinning
in place and hitting her with an elbow in the cheek.
She stumbled back, blocked a punch, and slammed a mace on to one of
Ryu's thighs, who fell to one knee. Blocking another attack, he surged
forward, and hit her with an open palm strike to her chest. Air wooshed
out of her lungs, and she fell back. Gasping for breath, she found her
footing and went on the defensive.
Blocking several blows, she began to understand something of Ryu's
fighting style. He was fast and strong, but not exceptionally so. She
could block his attacks for hours, since she was faster than he was.
Picking up the pace, she began to add some attacks with her maces between
her blocks. None of them hit, but it gave her some measure of his skill.
Meanwhile, Ryu was also doing is own analysis. She was much faster than
him, but did not have his reach and strength, although the maces compensated
for the reach. When she began to add strikes, he knew that there was no
way she could beat him. The attacks she was using were fairly simple, and
the combinations were not all that difficult to counter.
"It's been fun, but I've got to get going and find a real fighter,"
said Ryu. The woman's eyes widened at the insult and, with a battlecry,
struck forward with both maces.
"SHA-DO-KEN!" Ryu ducked both maces and jumped up with a powerful
uppercut. The girl's head snapped back and she flew upward, crashing to
the ground in a cloud of dust.
She stumbled to her feet, blood running out of her mouth and down her
chin. She was shaking both from the blow and anger.
"You want to find a real fighter?" she growled. "I'll show you what a
real fighter can do!" He battle aura built up, manifesting as a red glow
which surrounded her body. It slowly coiled down her arms and along her
maces, surrounding them in reddish fire.
An Amazon elder watched from the sidelines. Her reddish gray hair was
tied into a topknot, and she fingered two scimitars belted to her waist.
[Amazing! I've been trying to teach her the Ruby Scimitar Strike for weeks,
and in one fight against an outsider, she finally accomplishes it! I guess
all she needed was some real competition.]
Ryu's eyes narrowed. If she wanted to play rough, fine. He could
handle it. Tongues of blue energy began to ripple up and down Ryu's body.
Power raced along his nerves. The bolts of ki intensified. The girl took
a step forward. Then a second. By the third she was running flat out
towards Ryu, screaming an Amazon battlecry.
"HOOOO-" Ryu pulled back, cupping his hands. Energy ran down his
hands, coalescing between them into a ball of blazing blue-white ki. He was
surrounded in a corona of energy.
The girl drew back her maces, preparing to strike at Ryu. They blazed
red, energy arcing between them.
"DOOOO-" Ryu pulled back further, all the energy concentrating into the
tiny ball between his fingers.
"KEN!" An umbrella of blue white power blasted from his hands and shot
towards the girl. She thrust forward with her maces, striking the energy
umbrella.
The resulting explosion was, to say the least, impressive. The shock
wave blew Ryu off his feet, and forced the other Amazons to cover their eyes.
When the smoke cleared, there was nothing left but a pair of red boots.
Ryu looked at them in horror, thinking that he had killed the girl. Then
he noticed the hole in the wall of a house about twenty yards away. The
girl stepped from the hole. Most of her clothes were gone, vaporized in
the explosion, and one of her maces were broken. She took two steps, and
collapsed, unconscious. The elder went over to the girl, as did Ryu.
     "Is she okay?" he asked.
The elder nodded. "She will live. Come, help me with her." Toghther,
they carried her into a house.

When she came to, the first thing she saw was the elder. "<So, Wa Tur,
how are you feeling?>"
Wa Tur groaned. "<I feel like I've been trampled by elephants.>"
The elder smiled. "<And her is the male responsible for it.>" She
pulled Ryu into view, who was grinning nervously.
     "Er...sorry, but, well..."
Wa Tur's face became radiant. Tears ran out of her eyes. She struggled
to sit up, and threw her arms around Ryu. "Wo ai ne!" Wa Tur kissed Ryu
passionatly. Ryu was so shocked, he did not move a muscle.
     "Done!" cried the elder.
"What?" asked Ryu a little breathlessly.
"I now pronounce you woman and husband."
     "Husband!?"
"You have defeated Wa Tur. By our laws, she must marry you."
"What!? Marry her? But...I don't...I'm not..." Ryu was finding it
hard to concentrate on what he was saying, since Wa Tur was putting her
hands and lips on the most distracting places. In desparation he shoved her
away. "Are you serious?"
The elder looked at him straight in the eye. "Dead serious."

No amount of persuasion, threats, or pleading could change their minds,
and not even Ryu could stand up to the combined might of the Amazon elders.
"But I can't stay here and be married," argued Ryu. "I'm going back
to Japan soon."
"Wa Tur can travel with you," said an elder. "It would be good for her
to see the outside world. Sometimes I think we are too isolated here. You
would eventually return, of course."
Ryu ground his teeth. Then he came up with an idea. She could travel
with him, and he would try to get her to fall in love with someone. He
would be free, and she would have a husband she *really* loved, not one that
could beat her up.
"Very well," he said with a show of great reluctance. "Water can travel
with me."
The elder frowned. "That's Wa Tur."
     "Whatever."
Within the hour, Wa Tur was packed and they left the village. When
they were some distance away, Wa Tur turned to Ryu.
"Where are you going to in Japan?"
"Tokyo. There's a pretty good fighter I've heard about, and I want
to see how good he really is."
     "What is this fighter's name?"
     "Ranma Saotome."
