Only in Xena, hercules et alii. In teh original greek myths, I havent
seen any real evidence for hime being a coward and a crybaby.

 IIRC, in the Iliad when Diomedes (with the aid of Athena) hurts Ares in
combat, Ares does go running off to complain to Zeus, not at all what one
would expect from the god of war.  Later, he is easily routed by Athena in
a fight between the two.
