on to the business:
Interesting Times
yet another depraved idea from Gregg Sharp, aka
Metroanime@aol.com. do not request copies of anything
from me, i won't send 'em. The background/world for
this is copyright of a whole lotta people, starting
mainly with Takahashi Rumiko. Toltiir is NOT a self
insert character. He's also Titania, Oberon, Puck,
Robin Goodfellow, Coyote, and a whole lot of other
names.
-------------------------------
Ranma's latest attempt at a cure had left him
with a small object from the Cursed Antique Shoppe.
He wasn't exactly sure what to make of it, though just
the awful shape of it set his nerves to twitching.
It was, in fact, a black cat sculpture about
the size of his thumb. Closer inspection would reveal
a Japanese kanji on it. Ranma had missed quite a few
classes, and considered who he could ask about this
one. There being a lot of the ideographic portion of
the Japanese written language that he didn't know.
Though he thought that _Ucchan_ might know,
he decided to do the politic thing for once and go to
Akane first. While he didn't expect her to have the
answer, she might appreciate being the first choice
to consult with.
A quick trip through Akane's window into the
koi pond squelched that idea. Apparently Akane was
having a particularly bad day. Somehow, Ranma knew
she was getting blamed for it.
Ranma doubted she could afford Nabiki's fees.
Walking back into the house, dripping water, he nodded
at Kasumi who had a towel ready.
"Oh my, Ranma, what have you got there?"
"Hmmm. According to a scrap of old paper I
found in a library book, that has the power to 'sever
a curse from the victim' but I don't know how or
what that kanji is."
"It's an old one, not used anymore. A modern
word for it would be 'comic' or 'comedian', I think."
Kasumi smiled her usual vacant smile. "Maybe you should
make a wish on it."
"You mean like 'I wish someone else had all my
problems'?" Ranma looked at the little statue. "I don't
think that would work...Kasumi?"
He'd just glanced down for an instant, but
Kasumi had vanished. A few moments later Kasumi got out
of the furo, ready to face the world after her "Calgon
fifteen minutes."
------------------
"Oh geez, he didn't actually say THAT did he?"
Morgan Shades, god of beer, third level, limited license
looked up at Juan Valdez (god of coffee, third level,
probationary status after a little misadventure
involving a burro, thirty two cases of kahlua, and the
Finnish Swimsuit Team.)
Both were watching a little black cat rolling
around on the floor laughing its fool head off. After
a few minutes of this the cat reattached its head to
the rest of its body and began to plan outloud.
Cautiously Morgan and Juan backed away, they'd
put their own two cents into "The Bet" story arc later.
When Toltiir starts getting serious, it is time to get
the <bleep> out of Dodge.
"Let's see," the cat was speaking like
"Crocodile Dundee" today. "He didn't actually wish that
his problems would leave him, so let's see."
A ten sided dice the size of a 747 tire flattens
Juan's burro briefly.
"Eight! Eight victims it is. Eight people to hit
with problems just as ludicrous as Ranma's own. Hmmm.
When he marries Akane his life will calm down anyway, so
new victims ARE needed. Let's see, now. Who?"
"Ah, Ryouga Hibiki. Too perfect. He already
turns into P-chan, so if I just hit him with the
'Delusional Rival From The Past' and the 'Multiple
Fiancee' thing. Good, good.
"Now who else? I know that spell works, I field
tested it on that Masaki kid. Hmmm. A girl? Maybe that
Ukyou Kuonji. <Snicker.> Even better, Nabiki Tendo?!
Heh, only if I put a nice streak in her. Kasumi?
She'd probably just ignore it.
The cat purred. "Why stick with the Japanese?"
-------------------
"I got the job? But I don't speak Chinese."
Paul blinked.
"Yup. It's pretty cool. Glendale is now going
to be a sister city to," Kevin glanced down at the
paper, "New-chey-zoo, I think it says. Big cultural
exchange they're planning for the next Chinese festival
here."
"But why me?"
"Luck of the draw, buddy. About time you had
some GOOD luck, eh? Hey, maybe you'll even meet some
cute Chinese girls over there!"
"My luck could NEVER be that good."
=========================
Just a pre-treatment for Interesting Times. let me
know if i should still keep this in my In Box or let
it go. You gotta admit seeing Nabiki suddenly having
to face all of Ranma's problems, PLUS the addition of
a conscience, would be a nightmare (for her.)
oh well, this would be late in the queue.
