I think that Ukyou Kuonji should play Randle instead of Ryoga as she 

is

Ranma' best friend and I find it is easier to picture her in that role 

than

Ryoga.

  Ranma and Ryoga are as Spock and McCoy; they're better friends than 
they appear. Feel free to hurl flames my way (privately). 

As has been pointed out before, it is not canon that Ukyou is Ranma's 

best

friend although she is his oldest friend. 

  Of course, if you ask Ranma, being the dense fool that he is, he'd 
probably consider her a close friend (and yet he doesn't REALLY know 
her, either; I'm pretty sure he still thinks of Ukyo more as a guy even 
though he accepts that she's a girl, and thus is rather confused/highly 
ignorant of her more-than-friendly feelings). Still, I think it all 
breaks down to how you define friendships.
