I was unfortunate enough to see part of "Universal Soldier" again the other
day. I started thinking about the number of movies/stories about
government
organizations creating synthetic super-men for soldiers and assassins.
In America:
Universal Soldier - Jean-Claude Vann Damme
Solo - Mario Van Peebles
The Terminator - Arnold Schwartzeneger
There's an obvious trend through all of these movies:
Big seven foot hunks of meat who blow things up.
In Anime:
Armored Trooper VOTOMS - Proto One
Ghost in the Shell - Matoko Kusinagi
Naomi Armitage
Nuku Nuku
There's a completely different obvious trend here:
Short, cute women who blow things up.
I'm tossing this out there because I think it's a good point for
speculation.
I'm sure I could use it in a fic somewhere if I sat down and thought about
it long enough. I can't do anything with it for the moment, so if anyone
wants
to take this and run with it, they're welcome

>From the Scriviner:
Actually, I'm already writing a fic with the similar basic idea with a
couple of twists... first, it's basically the robots replacing the members
of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. Yes folks, a G-Force story, 'cept the cast
ain't there. ^_^
Instead we've got:
Astroboy
Alita
Nuku-Nuku
Ifurita
Mackie Stingray (I know he seems lost, but trust me. ^_^)
Of course, this may yet take a while to get out, I've got a lot of
writing chores to finish yet and classes are starting to get wonky.
Science Ninja Team Gatcharobo. Watch out for it. Eventually. ^^;;
