Greetings. I haven't had much access to the Taro source
matterial, but what is avaliable got me thinking a bit. So here's an
idea from it. Is it Plausable?
The difference between Ranma and Taro from a training
standpoint: Here's how I see it. Ranma studies Anything Goes which is
a very inclusive and open ended style. Over the course of training
he's constanly looked for new techniques and learned them, with his
training helping him incorperate them with the techniques he already
knows. So what makes Ranma so dangerous is the fact that he has a
immense and constantly growing collection of techniques at his disposal
all of which he uses very well.
Taro on the other hand studied the Cotten Fist. Now there
wasn't much refference to his training, but I think that what he did
was learn all the techniques Cotten Fist had to teach, then he stoped
learning new techniques, and instead focused his efforts into improving
the techniques he already knew. What makes him dangerous therefore is
the fact that he has a somewhat large collection of techniques all of
which he uses at a levil of skill greator than anyone else in the
series. That's why he's so arrogant about not needing to learn Chi
blasts, because learning something beyond the techniques he's been
working to master would be an admission that his chosen learning style
isn't the best one.
	So, does that make sense?

That final point you raised is new to me but it
does make sense, and all your other points are
also correct.

Taro is also extremely arrogant and does not
hesitate to use any trick to get what he wants
no matter the consequences.

Ranma, also uses whatever it takes to win and
does not often think of the consequences but
he also cares what happens afterward.

Also, I happen to agree quite wholeheartedly with
Chris Davies' opinion of Taro in that he is a
minor and mostly unimportant character.
