I posted this up a few months back, and I have a new part out.
So I thought I should repost this part, just in case people
forgot about it. As before, hotmail won't let me copy/paste the
whole thing, so here's half of the first part, and the second
part is coming.
Comments? Critism? Please?

The Great Holy Wars
Part Prologue 1 : Return to El-Hazard
An El-hazard fanfic and
also a Wonderings of Reality Story

AUTHOR'S IMPORTANT NOTE: Wonderings of Reality is a crossover of
sorts. It is a series based on the life of a character of my
creation, Jene Shock. Jene was born in the Sailor Moon Universe,
and after an accident involving the time gate and Sailor Pluto,
Jene was thrown through the fabric of time and space. Wonderings
of Reality is a series about Jene and her interactions with the
locals of each universe that she happens to fall into while
trying to get back to the Sailor Moon Universe.
This story is about what happened when Jene fell into the
El-Hazard universe. Therefore, even though I call it a
Wonderings of Reality story, it can also be considered to be an
El-hazard fanfic.
You do not have to read anything else in the Wonderings
of Reality series to understand/enjoy this fanfic. You only
need to know this: Jene has been to many, many universes and as
a result, is very knowledgeable about many, many things, especially
fighting techniques.
The prologue and epilogue of this story is set in the
present time of El-Hazard (i.e., Rune Venus rules Rhoshtaria. Makoto
is in El-hazard. Ifurita just got sent away by the Eye of God).
However, the rest of the story is a flashback to the days of the
holy wars and before Ifurita was sealed in sleep.
Okay, that's all I wanted to say.
*****************************************************************
The sky was blue and the weather was perfect. The citizens
of Rhoshtaria milled about the streets, chatting contently and
generally enjoying life.
And they had reason to enjoy life. The bugrom had been
defeated and totally annihilated just a few months ago.
Parents brought their kids out to the river of god to play.
Everyone was happy. Everything was peaceful.
That is, until a black dot suddenly appeared a few meters
above the river of god.
It was a small dot; not even a millimeter in diameter.
Then, it started to grow quietly but surely until it was two
meters in diameter.
The people who saw it, stopped all their activities to
stare at the black hole.
Two of these people were Afura Mann and Shayla Shayla. Shayla
saw the hole first.
"Afura..." she said softly. "That thing... It..."
Afura frowned. "It looks like one of those black holes
the Eye of God creates!" She said. She quickly ran out into
the river, wading in the water. "Everyone out of the way! Watch
out! That thing can be dangerous!"
The people quickly did as ordered, leaving Shayla and
Afura a few meters away from the black hole.
"Do... do you think Makoto somehow created this?!" Afura
asked, nervously.
Shayla shook her head. "No. Makoto's been trying to get
the Eye of God figured out day and night, and last I saw, which
was only an hour ago, he wasn't even close! He couldn't have
generated this."
"Then... then what could have?" Afura wondered aloud.
Suddenly, an arm stuck out of the black hole, causing
both priestesses to get in defensive fighting positions.
The arm moved around a bit, as if trying to see if it
would touch something. When it didn't, the arm disappeared back
into the black hole.
Then a person leapt out from the hole! Since the hole
was in the air, the person stepped out and fell into the river
with a splash. The hole closed just as suddenly as it had appeared.
Afura and Shayla stared at the area where the person had
fallen.
There was another splash as the person broke the surface
of the water. She was relatively close to the banks of the
river, so the water wasn't very high.
She coughed and shook her head, causing drops of water
to spray in all directions. Then, she rubbed her eyes to get
the water out.
"Gotta remember to watch that first step," she muttered
to herself.
"Excuse me," Afura said, instinctively putting her amulet
on her belt to get access to the power of the wind, "but exactly
who are you?!"
The girl (who looked to be in her mid twenties) squinted
at Afura. "Eh?" She asked.
"She asked who exactly are you!" Shayla said putting her
metal glove on her arm.
The girl looked at Shayla now, and realized that the first
people she had seen so far were both in fighting stances.
Thus, she took up a position of her own. She had a heavy,
un-placeable accent. "Where am I?" She demanded, "what is the name
of this world?"
Afura and Shayla looked at each other before looking at
the girl. "You're in El-Hazard," Afura said.
The girl stared at her. "Excuse me? El-Hazard, did you
say?"
Afura nodded.
The girl sighed and dropped her stance. "El-hazard. Great.
It's not home," she muttered to herself. "It never is."
"Hey, tell us who you are and what you were doing
with that black hole, or else things are going to get ugly!"
Shayla demanded.
The girl looked at her and remembered that there was a
possible fight on her hands. She looked at Shayla, wary for a
fight. "I did not come here seeking fights," she said, still in
a heavily accented voice. "But if you want one that bad, I will
give it to you."
"You bet I want a fight!!" Shayla shouted, ripping the cord
on her glove and them leaping into the air as a fiery aura
surrounded her.

Makoto Mizuhara was in the great library. Currently, his
nose was stuck in a large book which probably weighed more than
he did.
He frowned to himself as he skimmed over the words on
the page. Finally, he just gave a yell of frustration and
slammed the book shut. He looked longingly at the power key
staff that leaned against the table beside him.
He grabbed his hair in frustration.
~Ifurita...~ He thought. ~I'll find you. I know I'll
find you, someday. But... this is so hard! These books aren't
giving any clues! I just wish I knew how long it would take...~
The sound of someone clearing her throat got his attention
and he looked up.
Nanami Jinnai stood in front of him. She had a look of
masked anxiety on her face. "Any luck?" She asked.
Makoto gave a weak smile. He was very relieved when Nanami
gave up on him. In the few months after Ifurita's departure, she
seemed to have realized that he didn't love her and had given up
and moved on. Makoto just wished he could say the same about a
certain priestess.
"No luck at all." Makoto mumbled.
Nanami suddenly smiled. "That's about to change, Makoto.
Come on, come with me. There is someone there you'd probably want
to meet."
Makoto frowned but got up, stretching his legs. He reached
over to pick up the power key staff. He took it with him, every
where he went. It was the only thing he had of Ifurita. "Who?"
He asked as he followed Nanami out of the library.
Nanami shrugged. "I don't know, but Shayla and Afura went
by the river today when witnesses said a black hole suddenly
opened up, right over the river!"
Makoto stared at Nanami. "What did you say? A black hole?!
As in the ones the eye of god makes?!"
Nanami nodded. "That's right. And get this! A girl fell
out of the hole!"
"What?!"
"A girl fell out of the hole! Naturally, Shayla picked a
fight with her and Afura had to help her-"
"A fight?! Is the girl alright?! I hope the priestesses
didn't hurt her too badly!"
"Makoto, the girl is FINE! It's Shayla and Afura! They were
both beaten unconscious and witnesses said the girl only used a
single blow to take them out!!"
"WHAT?!"
"Shayla and Afura are in the infirmary, and the doctors say
they'll be fine, save for a bump on both their heads."
"What about the girl?"
"When the imperial troops went to the beach, they found her
standing over top of Shayla and Afura. Naturally, some bonehead
panicked and fired, catching her in the abdomen!"
"What?! I thought you said the girl was fine!"
"She is! The bullet knocked her down, long enough for the
troops to arrest her and transport her back to the palace
dungeons! They had a doctor go down to see if she lived and get
this, when the doctor got to her, she had pulled the bullet out
with her bare hands and she was already starting to heal!"
"WHAT?!"
"They're interrogating her now. Everyone's there, except
for Afura and Shayla."
The two friends ran down to the palace dungeons and when
they got there, they saw a few guards blocking the door.
The guards let them in though and once inside, they saw the
Princesses Rune Venus and Fatora standing in the middle of a
well lit room. To their left stood Londs, Dr. Staulenbough,
Alliele, Miz Mishtal and Masamichi Fujisawa-sensei.
At the far end of the room was the girl, who had on shackles
and was handcuffed. There was a large thick chain chaining her
to the ground by the neck.
She did not seem amused.
Makoto tightened his grip on the power key staff and looked
at the girl. ~If she came out of a black hole, then she could be
the key to finding Ifurita,~ he thought to himself.
She looked to be in her mid-twenties and had long black
hair which she tied back at the base of her neck. She had blue
eyes and a strong, somewhat angular face.
There were two weapons that two guards were holding, a
ways away from her. They were obviously her's. Both were swords,
one being larger and one being smaller.
But it was her clothing which was strangest of all.
Makoto peered closely at them and gave a gasp of surprise when
he realized she was wearing a T-shirt and denim jeans. Upon
closer examination, Makoto realized that her clothing was
slightly damp, as the blood on her shirt and jeans had not
dried yet. Her hands were also bloody.
Despite the bloodstains, she looked healthy.
At that point, Makoto knew she was not from El-Hazard.
Denims and jeans did not exist here.
"Hey Makoto," Fujisawa said. "Glad to be able to get you
from the library." She looked at Nanami. "Was it a hard?"
Nanami smirked. "Actually, it was much easier than I
ever would have thought possible."
Rune Venus looked at Makoto. "We realize you do not like
to be disturbed while you are in the library, but we thought
that you would like to see this."
She motioned for Makoto to stand closer to her and thus,
closer to the girl.
Makoto was very surprised. Now that he was closer to the
girl... she didn't look like a girl anymore. Before, she looked
to be in her mid-twenties, but when Makoto looked into her eyes,
he realized that this person was not what she seemed to be.
Her eyes reminded Makoto of Ifurita. Like the demon-god,
the girl's eyes betrayed her true age. There was a look of wisdom
and experience in them. They were the eyes of someone who had
seen many, many years.
And, also like Ifurita, the girl's eyes had a look of pain
and suffering in them, only the girl's pain seemed to be more
masked over and hidden whereas any caring person could see the
pain in Ifurita's eyes.
At the moment, her eyes were staring at the power key staff.
Then, she looked up at him, and there was shock and surprise in
her eyes. Finally, she looked back at the key staff, and her
frown deepened. A flicker of anger glared in her eyes as she
studied Makoto.
She spoke, but not in the accented voice that she had
spoken to Afura and Shayla in. "I'd shake your had, except..."
the girl lifted her cuffed hands for Makoto to see. Her voice
dripped with sarcasm.
Makoto stared at the hand. The girl's words confirmed his
suspicions. This girl was not from El-Hazard. Bowing was the
normal greeting here.
Makoto cleared his throat. "Who are you?" He asked.
"That depends," she said, eyes in the shape of slits. She
eyed the key staff once more. "I have been many people in the
past. But, the last time I was in this dimension, a loooong
time ago, I was called Jene Shock, which is my name of preference."
Makoto blinked. "Last time you were in this dimension...?"
Jene growled. "Yeah. That's right. I know a few different
methods of inter-dimensional travel and those black holes you
are no doubt so interested about, they are how I came to this
world this time."
"Y-You are telling me you know how to travel from dimension
to dimension?!" Makoto's heart started to pound. ~This is it!
She can help me find Ifurita!!~ He thought.
Jene looked at Makoto suspiciously and nodded. Then, she
looked at Makoto in a way that it gave him the idea that she was
not only looking at his physical self, but at his thoughts and
personality too. It was unnerving, the way her eyes seemed to
reach into him.
Then, she smiled in a predatory way. "I can teach you how,
if you want." She said. "And, of course, that is what you want."
"How did you know-"
Jene smirked. "Please, the way your heart started to
speed up when I first talked about it was a dead give away."
"How did you..."
"I will answer no more questions. I have answered enough.
Now, it is time for you to answer one of mine."
Makoto blinked. "W-what do you want to know?"
Jene pointed at the power key staff. "How did you get
a hold of THAT?!" She demanded.
Rune Venus frowned. "Makoto... I do not think it is wise
if we tell her..."
Jene glared at the first princess of Rhoshtaria. "You WILL
answer me!!" She shouted, trying to get to her feet. However, the
chain was too short, and she didn't want to stoop, so she sat down
again. "Answer me!" She demanded. "That staff does not belong to
you!!! How did you acquire it?!"
"What are you talking about?" Nanami demanded, not liking
this girl. "What are you saying?! Of course that staff belongs to
Makoto!"
"It does not. It can not."
"It does!"
Jene's eyes narrowed again and her teeth were clenched.
"You refuse to tell me how you got it, but I KNOW that it is not
yours. I don't know how you got it, but there is only one reason
why anyone would want that." Her blue eyes suddenly turned a
steely black. "I will not let you control the wielder of that
staff!! Give it to me!!"
With that, Jene leaped straight to her feet, snapping the
chain that had chained her to the ground. Everyone shouted and some
of the guards jumped at her. She snapped the chains binding her
limbs and swatted the guards away as though they were flies.
Then, she lunged at the guards which held her weapons and
smashed their heads together before retrieving her swords.
She quickly tied the small one to her waist then put the
large one on her back before unsheathing the large sword.
The large sword was a Japanese katana. The handle was a
dark black.
"Everyone!" Fujisawa cried, jumping in front of the crowd.
"Get out of here!! I'll handle this!"
"Stay here!" Jene shouted, "I WILL get that staff!!"
The superman started to fight with the enraged girl while
everyone fled from the dungeons.
"Get out of my way!" Jene cried, "I do not want to hurt
you! I must get that staff though!"
"I won't get hurt!" Fujisawa replied as he dodged a
sword. "Can say the same for yourself though!!" With that, he
punched Jene in the face, sending the girl flying into a stone
wall, crashing her cranium on it.
Jene groaned and staggered to her feet. She looked at the
teacher and laughed. "Silly me. I seem to have underestimated
you. So sorry. I won't do that again!!" Jene put her large sword
back in it's sheath and took out her small one.
Whereas her large sword had a straight blade, her smaller
sword had a curved blade. There was a hole in the inner curve
of the blade, as a design. The blade also had markings carved
into it by the outer curve side.
Jene gripped the handle in both hands and held it in front
of her. Then, she started to breath through her mouth.
Fujisawa looked at her and got in a fighting position. He
did not know what she was planning to do.
Suddenly, a line appeared in the middle of Jene's forehead.
It stretched and grew until a circular hole was in the middle of
her head. The hole glowed a magnificent blue.
Suddenly, a jewel of some sort emerged from the hole. It
had been the jewel which had been glowing. As soon as it came
out, the hole shrunk and sealed itself and Jene's forehead was
intact once more.
The jewel floated a foot in front of Jene's face for a
moment before floating down to Jene's sword and fitting itself
perfectly into the hole in the blade of the sword.
When the jewel fitted into the sword, the markings in the
blade started to glow also.
Fujisawa watched the obvious display of magic warily.
Jene gave a shout and lunged into the air, slashing
downward with her sword. She cut so fast that Fujisawa saw a
trail of blue light was left in the wake of her sword. It was a
trick of light, the sensei knew, and wasn't fooled by it.
Fortunately, she wasn't fast enough to strike Fujisawa
who managed to sat out of the way. He leapt a few meters away
before turning back to face her.
Then, he gave a blink of confusion.
Jene was still in the ending pose of her strike. However,
the trail of light caused by the glowing blade... still hung in
the air.
Jene stood up, smirking. The trail of blue light was in a
'C' shape and it gradually shrunk until it looked like a small
blue dot. Then, suddenly, the dot expanded into a black hole that
Shayla and Afura had seen, only this dot was glowing blue.
Fujisawa stared at her, wondering what she was going to
do next.
"You fight well," Jene said. "That is, for an amateur. I
can tell you have not fought long. You are unaccustomed to your
strength and you do not wield it very well. With more practice,
you will be formidable. Of course, if we fight on, you will not
get the chance for more practice."
Jene put her sword back into it's sheath and grinned
savagely. "We will continue this fight later." Then, she leaped
into the hole.
The hole started to glow so brightly that the blue turned
to white light. Then, suddenly, the hole shrunk into a dot and
disappeared all together, leaving spots in Fujisawa's eyes.
"Where did she go?!" He shouted as he looked around.
*****************************************************************
It was later that night, and most everyone was eating
dinner. However, ever since meeting her in the dungeons, Makoto
had been dying to talk to the Jene one more time, but hadn't the
opportunity. He just had to see her again. He knew she could
help him find Ifurita.
Unfortunately, she had escaped, and from Fujisawa-sensei's
descriptions, Makoto had come to believe that she used a form of
dimensional travel of some sort.
At the moment, he was sitting on his bed. The power key
staff was beside him and he laid a hand on it.
~Why did she want this staff so much?~ Makoto wondered.
~She obviously knows about Ifurita if she knows about the staff...
But how??~
Makoto just knew that Jene would come seek him again, and
she would not leave next time, without the staff.
~I won't let her take the only thing of Ifurita's I have,
away from me,~ Makoto vowed. ~She won't.~
Suddenly, a black dote appeared in the middle of his
room, a few meters away from his bed. Makoto stared at it as
it enlarged into a black hole.
Suddenly, Makoto realized that this was what Fujisawa,
Shayla and Afura had described. This was how Jene was traveling.
Makoto grabbed the staff and leapt to the other side of
his bed. He eyed the black hole, his heart pounding.
Suddenly, a person leapt out of the hole, this time
landing on her feet (and not falling on her face in a river).
Jene looked up and looked straight into Makoto's eyes. The
boy tightened his grip on the staff.
"You know what I've come for." Jene said slowly. "Give it
to me."
"No!!" Makoto cried.
"Give it to me, Makoto Mizuhara." Jene said, slowly
advancing on him. "Don't make me hurt you."
Makoto only responded by taking another step back.
"You seem like a nice person..." Jene said. "So why do
you insist on doing this? Why must you keep her in slavery?!"
"What are you talking about?!"
"The holder of the staff," Jene snapped, "controls the
wielder of the staff. You control the wielder, Makoto. You keep
her in virtual slavery. I won't let you do that to her."
"If you're talking about Ifurita, you're mistaken!! I... I
love her! She is NOT my slave!"
"Liar!!" Jene shouted, "I know your type! You wish to
control the greatest power of El-Hazard to rule the planet! Well
let me tell YOU something! Ifurita will not be part of your
plans for domination! I have stopped countless others from
controlling her in the past; and you are no different from the
others! Give me one excuse why I shouldn't kill you where you
stand, for trying to control my friend!!"
"Listen to me! Ifurita can not be controlled now-!"
Jene gave a laugh. "Gee, now there's one I haven't heard
of before."
"It's true!"
"If it's so true, then if you hold the staff, you don't
control her, yes? The staff is useless now then, right?"
"Well, no, it's not use-"
"Then why won't you give it back to me?!" Jene shouted.
She gave a suddenly lung, right in front of Makoto and grabbed
the front of his shirt. She hoisted him into the air. "Why
won't you give it back?!"
Makoto swallowed. "I...I...!!"
Jene sneered and ripped the staff out of his hands
before dropping him on to the ground. "Pathetic." She sneered.
Jene walked over to the window.
"Hey, give that back! You don't understand!"
"Yes, I do." Jene said coldly. She looked down her
nose at Makoto. "The holder of the staff is the controller of
the wielder, Ifurita. Therefore, Ifurita should be the holder
of the staff, so she can control her own destiny. I'm getting
this staff back to it's rightful owner."
"Wait! You don't understand!! Ifurita..."
Jene wouldn't listen. She suddenly lifted up into the
air, and flew up into the sky. Makoto rushed to the window,
screaming after her.
"WAAAITTT!!!"
*****************************************************************
Makoto buried his head in his hands. "I have to get the
staff back." He said to himself, over and over again. "I'll NEVER
see Ifurita again if I don't have that staff! I need it!!"
"I don't believe it!!" Fatora shouted to no one in
particular. "The security of this place stinks!! Thieves can
come in and out of the palace at their will! What if someone
tries to sneak into MY room next time?!"
"Sister, calm down," Rune Venus said softly. "This was
a special case. It is my belief that Jene only did this to
get the staff. She probably would not want to teleport into your
room for anything."
"We have to find her," Shayla said. She and Afura had just
come from the infirmary. "I don't like her. What does she want
with that staff anyway? It's not like she can use it to control
Ifurita, for two reasons. Number one, Ifurita's her own woman now
and number two, she isn't even IN El-Hazard!"
"She probably thinks Ifurita is still sealed in sleep or
something." Afura theorized. "Which means she's probably headed
towards the forbidden island."
"She'll never find it," Miz said. "She doesn't know where
that is."
"No wait," Makoto said. "When she flew out the window,
she headed in the general direction of the river. I think she
DOES know where the island is."
"How could she have known?"
Londs rubbed his chin. "In... in the dungeons, she said
something about 'the first time she was in this world'... I
think this means that she came into our world once before with
a black hole and left. Now, she came back."
"That doesn't explain how she knows about the island." Miz
replied.
"But it does..." Makoto whispered. "It does!! She said she
was here, a long time ago! Maybe she was here when Ifurita was
sealed into deep sleep! She also seemed very determined to let
Ifurita 'control her own destiny' and she called Ifurita her
friend."
Shayla snorted. "Ifurita isn't exactly the friendly type
and somehow, Jene doesn't strike me as someone who makes friends
easily, especially if she picks fights with the first people she
meets."
"Shayla, that was YOU who picked the fight," Afura reminded
her fellow priestess. Shayla ignored her.
"I don't care," Makoto said, standing up. "If the forbidden
island is where Jene's headed, then that's where I'm going to. I
must get that staff back, and if Jene really IS Ifurita's friend,
then maybe she can help me get Ifurita back too."
