This is really a variation of the old "are the curses passed on to the
next generation" question.  If they aren't, then only the mother becomes
cursed.  If they are, then the child MIGHT be cursed also.  I can't
think of a reason why the curse would bypass the mother.

  It's not a variation because the woman is pregnant at the time of
exposure so an argument could be made that the fetus is also exposed to the
magic.  

  Here's a really strange thought - the pool of the drowned pregnant woman.
