This is my take on Scream's opening scene using Ranma 1/2's Nabiki. It is
part of a longer Marmalade Boy fic, but I wanted to get Ranma fans' opinions..

RRRIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!
	"Hello?"
	"Who is this?"
"Who are you trying to reach?"
	"What number is this?"
"What number are you trying to reach?"
"Oh, I think I have the wrong number."
"Don't let it happen again. Ciao."
Nabiki hung up the phone and sighed. She was alone in the house. Akane,
Kasumi and Soun had all decided to go shopping together. Nabiki had feigned
sick and
stayed home. Ranma and his father were off on some training trip, the
numskulls. The
middle Tendou sister had yet to decipher the reason the majority of her house
mates
placed so much importance on martial arts. Maybe is the were pro fighters who
battled
for money she would understand, but it seemed that most of the people the
people around
her were deluded by the illusion that was "The Warrior's Code."
	The phone rang again."
	"Hello?"
"I'm sorry, I think I dialed the wrong number."
"Then why'd you dial it again, dumb ass?"
	"To apologize."
"I guess I might consider considering forgiving you. No leave me alone."
	"Wait a second, lets talk."
"Sorry, pal. Time is money and money is life. I've got a lot of living to
do."
Nabiki quickly hung up the phone having said this. She was expecting Kuno
over
for a business transaction, and didn't have time for weirdoes calling her.
She went to the
kitchen where the pantry was a got out some popcorn. She put it on the stove.
The
phone rang again. Nabiki sighed. Who the hell was it now? The picked up the
cordless
which was sitting on the kitchen counter.
	"Yes?"
"Why don't you wanna talk to me..?"
"They have 900 numbers for that."
	"What's that noise?"
	"I'm making popcorn."
"Popcorn, eh? I only eat popcorn at the movies."
Nabiki smiled. She was bored to death tonight; this game might prove to be
interesting, she thought.
"I'm actually getting ready to watch a video."
	"Really? What video?"
	"Psycho."
"Isn't that the one starring Jamie Lee Curtis' mother?"
	"Yeah."
"I liked that one, it was scary."
"Well, I certainly hope so. A friend recommended it to me?"
	"Do you like scary movies?"
"Yeah...I guess you can say that."
	"Do you have a favorite?"
"Um...I guess my favorite is I Know What You Did Last Summer."
"I saw that one..to me, all these new horror movies suck. So..do you have a
boyfriend?"
Nabiki's smiled brightened. This, she thought, could very well be a guy
worthy of
her. Funny, smart, et cetera.
"Nope. Do you wanna ask me out?" she asked flirtatiously.
	"Maybe..what's your name?"
"Well, why do you wanna know my name?"
"So I can know who I'm looking at."
Nabiki froze. "Listen, I've gotta go." She hung up without waiting for
answer.
Nabiki proceeded to go around the house looking every door and window in the
house.
She looked out all the windows; no one was there. The phone rang again.
	"H-hello?"
"Why'd you hang up? It thought we were gonna go out."
"Um...I think not. Stop calling me."
	"Don't hang up on me.."
	Nabiki hung up.
	RRRIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!
Hearing that ring made Nabiki's heart stop. She picked it up and immediately
shouted into the phone.
	"LISTEN, ASSHOLE!"
"NO, YOU LISTEN TO ME YOU LITTLE BITCH! IF HANG UP ON MY
AGAIN I'M GONNA GUT YOU LIKE A FISH!"
Suddenly, the doorbell started ringing. A crying, terrified Nabiki said,
"Who's
there?"
The voice on the phone chuckled evilly. "You never ask who's there, that's a
death
wish. Don't you watch scary movies? You might as well go outside and
investigate some
strange noises."
"L..listen you sicko, you'd better stop this. My boyfriend is on his way
over here;
he'll be really pissed when I tell him. Your ass better be gone."
	"I thought you didn't have a boyfriend."
"Well, I lied. He's really big and he knows kendo and he'll beat the SHIT
outta
you!"
"Oh, I'm getting scared. His name wouldn't be Kuno would it?"
The middle Tendou sister nearly dropped the phone. For I second she couldn't
find her voice. She finally managed to utter, "H-h-h-h-how do you know his
name...?
"Turn on the back porch light."
Slowly and carefully, Nabiki made her way to the light switch and turned it
on.
	"AAAAAAAH!!!!"
There, in font of the carp pond, was Kuno, tied to a chair and gagged,
struggling
to get loose.
"I..is this some kind of sick joke?"
"More of a game really. I ask you a question and if you get it right, Steve
lives."
	"Stop...I can't do this.."
"Sure you can. Here, I'll even give you a warm-up question. The topic is
movie
trivia. What was written in the shower at the end of the movie."
	"Please..stop this..."
"C'mon its your favorite scary movie. Besides, Kuno's depending on you.."
Nabiki tried to think, but she couldn't. What was it? What was it? WHAT
WAS
IT?!
" `I Still Know!' That's what was written in the shower!
"Very good! Now for the real question. Who played Laurie Strode in
Halloween?"
A mad smiled pursed Nabiki's lips. "KATHY LEE GIFFORD!!!!!!"
	"WRONG."
"Wrong?!? It can't be wrong! It has to be right! It HAS to be!"
"So sorry. Laurie Strode was played by Jamie Lee Curtis."
Nabiki cursed herself. "Please, leave me alone..LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!"
	"Don't worry; there's a bonus question. Ready?"
	"I..I can't think..stop this..I can't think. Just go away!"
"Get the question right and I will. Now, what door am I at?"
	"What?"
"Your house has a front entrance and a sliding door in the back; which one am
I
at."
Nabiki fell to her knees glancing at one door and the other. "Oh, time's
up!" A
chair crashed through the living room window. Nabiki screamed bloody murder
and
dashed towards the front door. As she has her hand on the knob, she turned
around. She
wanted a glimpse of her assailant's face. Who knows, perhaps there was a
reward in it for
her. A figure flashed down the hall, not seeing her. All she saw was a flask
of black. She
threw the door open and started to creep ever so slowly to the front gate.
She stayed
close to the side of the building. In order to try and see his face again,
Nabiki slowly
stood and looked in the window, only to see a white ghost-masked face staring
right back
at her.
He broke through the window and bounced on her. They struggled breifly..and
Nabiki kicked him in the groin and broke away. The assailant was quick to
recover,
however. Before Nabiki could get far..he caught up with her. He grabbed her
and she
screamed and struggled as best she could..but couldn't break his hold.
In the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of silver. Her eyes looked up and
saw it: a
kitchen knife about eight inches long. In a second, it plummeted down and
struck Nabiki
square in the chest.
The brown-haired girl crashed to her knees and collapsed. She looked in
terror as
blood gushed from her open wound, turning her blue shirt a deep, dark red.
As the blood-thirsty maniac lifted his knife again, Nabiki summoned all her
strength to kick him, full force, in the chest with both legs. He doubled
over.
In the corner of her eye, Nabiki saw movement. Her family was home! With
some
effort, she lifted herself off the ground. She staggered towards the pair,
who were mere
feet away. She wanted to scream, but she couldn't. No matter how hard she
tried, she
couldn't reach more than a whisper.
	"A...Akane..Dad...Kasumi...."
	The didn't hear her.
Nabiki felt the arms of the masked figure around her, tackling her. She had
given
her best effort to survive; was it over? The killer plunged the knife into
her stomach.
"Nabiki!! Where are you?" Akane was in hysterics as she scrambled around
the
house, looking for her missing sister.
"Kasumi," Soun instructed his calmer daughter. "Call the police." Kasumi
nodded
and picked up the phone."
The figure rammed his knife again into Nabiki's chest.
Kasumi's eyes widened. "Father..I can hear her.."
"What?" Soun snatched the phone from his daughter. Sure enough, the
weakest,
faintest voice could be heard.
"Help me...help me..." The line went dead.
Akane came back into the living room, tears in her eyes. "I'm gonna go look
for
her!" Akane ran out the door.
A blood curdling scream! Soun and Kasumi bolted out side to see what
happened
to Akane. Akane was on her knees, sobbing loud, anguished sobs. As Kasumi
kneeled
down to comfort her, Soun caught a glimpse of it...he felt his dinner rising.
Nabiki was hung from a tree, her clothes soaked with blood, her stomach
gaping
open. Still in her hand was the cordless phone.
