I had assumed we'd all learned our lesson about posting private
responses in a public forum...guess not...
Folks, as someone who's committed this offense and paid the price for
it, I tell you true: if you get the urge to post something someone
sent you *privately* over a mailing list or newsgroup, *don't*. It is
incredibly rude, and liable to net you a mailbox full of flames.
I felt this needed to be seen. Now, before anyone else decides to
e-mail me
mentioning the FAQ and saying I'm trying to help Fortunecity, this
is
totally untrue. I, personally, am on the provider and I did not
know about
Xoom or the others such as Toptown(which just came to mind in
fact). I
would've reccomended every one of them. If Tybalt decides to ban me
for
trying to give authors more space to strech and to get away from
the
troublesome Geocities, than so be it. I did it for everyone.
It didn't need to be seen.
Furthermore, although I know this has already been settled...for the
last time, Geocities is *not* troublesome...it's one of the best free
web hosting services on the block, even if it does tend to suffer lag
problems from time to time, and has the popup windows, which again
can be eliminated by the page owner... As for 'more space to
stretch'...since when is 11 megabytes not enough room for a
single-author fanfic page?
My last word on the subject...and hopefully *the* last word on the
subject, as this thread has gone on way too long already.
