 nothing to do with the continuity. Would otherwise
 occur in Chapter 7 early.
this little skit came to mind when i noticed how the
 voting tally had gone.


Nabiki logged on and turned to the others. "Okay,
now this is what I found when I hacked into this site."

"I've only gotten TWO votes?!"

"Aiya. Shampoo was to be originally written in as
  one who got Ranma. Wait a minute. TATEWAKI got more
  votes than Shampoo? What do mailing list have against
  cute little Chinese girl?"

"You mean that even though this is an Alternate, and
  that it's already been mentioned that I'm a berserker
  and that Ranma and I don't get along that well, that
  I STILL HAVE TO MARRY THAT BAKA!"

"No kidding, sis." Nabiki pouted. "Even though I'm the
  clairvoyant, and already demonstrated that I'm able
  to be a more rounded character than in TOS, I still
  don't get Ranma? The shame of things."

"Why is he doing things this way, anyway?"

"Because, Ukyou, this particular writer wants to do
  things in a different way. Hence coming up with a vote
  to see who would be the final winner in this contest."

"Heck, two of the prereaders said that Kasumi couldn't
  be a candidate, and they'd already been sent the notes
  showing Dr Tofu as being married to Shampoo's amazon
  tutor."

"One moment, the votes are not all in yet." Kasumi 
  smiled and projected calm. "We still have over a week
  before The Choice is written."

"Shampoo no get Ranma, Shampoo get very upset."

"What a shame that 'The Art' version of Shampoo is
  not nearly so violent, having spent most of her life
  in Japan."

"Still upset that Tatewaki Kuno get more votes than
  Shampoo. Is outrage. It not look like Shampoo even
  get Ranma in 'Purple Hair Destiny'- it must be 
  conspiracy."

Akane growled. Kasumi's third eye opened and Akane 
  decided to swallow her anger for now. 

"Okay, so the choices are: Kuonji Ukyou, cute and 
  completely human girl descended from a ninja clan
  that directly served the Emperor as a guard against
  supernatural menaces, until they were wiped out in
  the coup that led (eventually) to WWII. I'm Ranma's
  childhood best friend, and my marriage to him would
  not only be a lifelong dream come true, but would 
  guarantee he'd be fed for the rest of his life."

"Completely human, as far as YOU know," corrected Nabiki.

"Tendo Akane, Thor's great grand-daughter, wielder of
  a knock-off version of Mjolnir, berserker martial 
  artist and telekinetic. I'm the leader in the polls.
  I can guarantee that if he ever steps out of line,
  I'll pound him back into it."

"Tendo Kasumi, half-sister to Akane and Nabiki through
  Kimiko Tendo. Triclops. Projective telepath and minor
  precog. Telekinetic, telepath, and sorceress when the
  Triclops personality dominates. I can guarantee that
  Ranma's marriage to me will have a well kept dojo."

"Tendo Nabiki, gadgeteer, clairvoyant, and financial
  wizard. Don't forget I haven't blackmailed Ranma yet
  in this timeline. Manipulated him and others, yes,
  but I haven't blackmailed him. My marriage to Ranma
  will see him making enough money to keep the dojo
  afloat. Who else can you say that about?"

"Hmmmph. Shampoo go last. Shampoo no like this. Am
  Shampoo Tendo, adopted daughter. Martial artist of
  amazon tribe, minor esper abilities, some learning
  in Chinese Alchemy. Very tricky stuff. If Shampoo
  marry Ranma, Ranma be protected by entire amazon
  tribe as Great-grandma say he then be Very Important."

"We're gonna discount the vote for Tatewaki and Kodachi,
  thank you very much," Nabiki manipulated the figures
  on the screen. "Whoever voted for 'all the girls' 
  must have been confusing Ranma for Tatewaki."

"Now e-mail writer, please, and vote for..."

"ME!" Each of the girls looked at the others and finally
 shrugged.

 no kidding, I got more votes (1) for Tatewaki Kuno
   marrying Ranma than for Shampoo (0)....
this was just too weird.
at least now i know why no one's ever tried this before
