Actually, Gary, I think the intent (at least in the way I read it) was
that Mousse had defeated Ranma as a suitor for Shampoo.  Ie Mousse defeats
Shampoo; Mousse must defeat Ranma; Ranma "let's" Mousse win.

Oops. *Blinkblink* OK, I get it now. Makes sense, though the idea of
Ranma losing to Mousse does stretch believability even further....

Overall, very nice emotional drama story. The feeling came through quite
well. Just fix up all the technical problems (and pleeeeeeeeeze take out
the "Ukyo is Ranma's best friend" BS ^_^) and you'll have a winner.

Oldest friend, yes.  Best friend?  I am uncertain if there is anyone in
the Ranmaverse that can qualify as a best friend for him...

In terms of what's meant here -- someone to whom he confides in and
pours out his troubles -- I'd say there probably isn't. OTOH, if by
"best friend" one just means someone to hang around with and do things
together, then from the evidence in the series one could conclude that
Ranma's best friend is Akane. Flipping through my manga volumes, it
looks to me like pretty much every time you see him eating at Ucchan's,
Akane's there with him.
