Point: The Masubetsu Kakuto Ryu is a completely unarmed style.
Argument: Ranma has been shown to use weapons before. In one of the
early episodes, we see Ranma and Genma fight on top of one of the
roofs
with bos. And very well, too.

Much as I hate to get dragged into one of these arguments...

Ranma's fighting style kinda sorta transcends all other martial arts.
Anything Goes (or Indiscriminate Grappling, depending on who you ask to
translate it) is intended as just that... anything is possible for a
true
master of the art. A true master of the school can use any weapons, (I
like
Bob Barnes's theory about Ayukawa Madoka learning to use guitar picks
as
projectiles from the school) but is also fully capable of working
without
them. Take Kuno and incinerate his bokken. His approximate threat
level, at
least to Ranma, drops from "mild annoyance" to "don't make me laugh".
Take
Ranma, fighting with a staff, and incinerate the staff. If anything,
he's
become more effective since he doesn't have the weapon to limit him. If
I
ever get around to finishing my response to Superdude's challenge from
way
back in March, part of it's going to be a training scene wherein Ranma
proves to Mousse that his particular unarmed style is superior to any
weapon. Of course, if Mousse makes full use of the however many weapons
he
has secreted on his person, it might be something approximating an even
match. But I digress...

In short, the bo fighting is a part of the school. In the grand scope
of
things, a master of the school is also qualified to master all other
schools
as well; he has to be.

--G. Falconar, who wonders how many people are going to correct him on
this.

I would have to agree with your idea that a master of "Anything Goes"
(blame VIZ, that's all I know the school as) would have to be a master
of all other schools. A good example is when Happosai first appears and
Soun and Genma finally get a little bit of a spine. Soun appears in a
complete samurai getup, and he actually seems to know how to use the
sword and bow. Hey, for that matter, Akane has a nice large repetoire of
items with which to bash Ranma with also.

-Wyvern, who's wondering why the hairs on the back of my neck are
standing up straight.

(Sorry felt like being silly.)
