2.  (50 point essay question)  What type of person is Nodoka?  I've read
'Paint it Black', 'Apron Strings', The Life and Times series, and many
others and she appears to be portrayed differently every time.

Nodoka has three main features of her personality that authors seem to
latch on to only one or maybe two of them.

Honor - Of the Ranma cast she is by far one of the most honor minded
characters. She will put honor over the life of her family.

Motherly - Nodoka desires and abilities to act as a mother is highly
evident when dealing with 'Ranko.'

Odd idea of Manliness - Who is the ideal man amongst men in Nodoka's eyes?
Happosai if you take away his undergarment fetish. To Nodoka being a total
pervert is manly, except having and/or wearing girl's clothes is not.

A scenes that helps show these feature from the manga:

Nodoka found a guy in a dress and correctly surmised that he was Ranma.
That wasn't manly so she set to prepaired for him to commit seppuku, but
before the ceremony she asked to see his face because the entire time
Ranma had not looked at her. She then found out Ranma had escaped and put
a statue in his place.
 
Later to help try to prove Ranma's manliness Ranma snuck into the bathing
room to peek on Akane taking a bath. Since she knew of the plan, she was
wearing a bathing suit and Ranma looked EXTREMELY disappointed and helped
convince Nodoka of Ranma's 'manliness.'

3.  Has there ever been any form of alternate romantic interest for
Kodachi?

Fan-fict convention has it being Mikado of the Golden Pair, but there is
no one ever stated in the actual series.
