Part One: Shinji's Magic Wand!
Author's Note: I've received requests to post who the characters from
Mahou TsukaiTai are, so here it is...
The Females:
Sawanoguchi Sayaka (Sae): Red hared main character, who has a small
bear she calls Jeff-kun. Sophomore.
Nakatomi Nanaka: Dark purple hared friend of Sae, who is in love with
Ayanojou. Sophomore.
Aikawa Akane: White hared freshman who lives by herself and whose magic
causes things to spin for no apparent reason.
Miyama Mizuha: Busty president of the Manga Club. Nuff said.
The Males:
Takakura Takeo: President of the Magic Club, wears glasses and has a
tendancy to bleed from the nose whenever confronted with visions of
femenine beauty.
Aburatsubo Ayanojou: Vice President of the Magic Club, red hared and
loves Takeo.
Minowa Minoru: Beefy reporter.
Toshimoto Yoshito: Beefy reporter's photographer. Resembles an adult
Kensuke.
Now, let's start the fic shall we...
In an event that was sure to rock the world of magic for all time,
everyone who was a part of the Tokyo-3 High Magic Club was actually
present. Even their new member, who was to be shown the ropes.
"Ikari Shinji, as a new member of the Magic Club you must take an
oath to never use your new powers for the purposes of evil... though
being the pilot of the Protector, I'm sure you'd never do such a thing."
"Um... sure, Takakura-senpai." Shinji replied uncertainly. It
unerved him the way he was visioned as some sort of savior by these
people.
Takeo nodded sagely, as he usually did. "I now pronounce you a New
Member of the Tokyo-3 Magic Club!"
Various party poppers went off at one time, and Kensuke, who was
the resident camera man, took a picture of everyone for posterity.
Shinji found himself with a handful of clothing and a pointed hat atop
his head. "Go change," Takeo ordered, pointing to the hall, "then we
can begin."
The gleeful president ushered Kensuke out along with Shinji,
thanking him for the photo. The two boys walked down the hall,
confusion marking their features.
"Do you have any idea what just happened?" Kensuke asked.
Shinji simply shook his head, not liking the look of the outfit he
was carrying. He had to ditch the wanna-be journalist before pictures
were taken that he did *not* want to be public domain. "I'll talk to
you later, okay?" he tried, opting for the direct approach.
Thankfully, it worked. "Alright... I have to get somewhere to meet
Suzuhara anyway. Oh, and he says no hard feelings for that punch." He
grinned, "It's just his way of saying hi."
Shinji grimaced, "I'll remember to duck the next time I meet him,
then."
"Sound advice. Well, ja!" Kensuke waved as he ran down the hall.
After meekly returning the wave, Shinji looked unsurely at the
clothing he was holding again. The pointed hat on his head was bad
enough, but the leggings looked skimpier than a plug suit. He sighed
and shrugged, then went into the nearest bathroom. Finding it empty, he
pulled a superman and ran back out into the hall. He wanted to spend as
little time in public as possible.
Upon returning to the club room, he noticed everyone standing
around a table in a circular pattern. Curiosity piqued, he glanced over
Nanaka's shoulder at what everyone's attention was on. A stick about
waist height was lying on the table, with a red rock at one end, and
what looked like a Native American duck caricature at the other. He
thought of asking what was going on, but was worried he would interrupt
something important.
"Shinji." Takeo suddenly announced, making him jump.
"Y... yes?" Shinji stuttered as he blinked a few times.
Takeo waved a hand over the stick on the table. "This is your
magic wand. Guard it with your life, for it may save your own."
Shinji stared down at the ridiculous looking device, then stepped
forward and picked it up. He felt a surge of power travel down his arm,
but couldn't be sure what caused it. He looked up from the wand and
smiled lightly. "Thank you."
Takeo crossed his arms as everyone smiled at the new recruit.
"Very good... now we shall begin."

"Now that we've gone over the basics, I want you to go on your
first test run. We'll start over the pool in case of an accident."
Takeo pointed to the edge of the blue glittering water. "Do it just
like I told you, okay?"
Shinji nodded and walked over to the pool side with the broom in
his hand. At first he had been highly skeptical as to whether or not
man could take flight on a simple piece of wood, but a simple
demonstration had been very convincing. He arrived at his destination
and stuck the broom between his legs. He gripped the laquered pine in
his hands and closed his eyes. He concentrated on lifting off and began
the incantation. "Izati abamehinamu etokafe nan."
The rest of the club looked on, some in extreme interest, some in
passing interest, and some in complete boredom. All gazes turned to
surprise though as Shinji began to glow with a bright red light. A
moment later, the glow vanished, and he shot into the air with the force
of a jet plane. The group covered their heads as a goodly amount of
water was blown out of the pool to come down on top of them.
"What the hell?" was all Takeo could say.

Makoto was doing a routine diognotic, nothing peculiar or
interesting. Then, his screen lit up with warnings. "AT Field!" he
cried, typing frantically. It had to be a mistake.
"Where is it?" Misato yelled, not finding anything on perimeter
scans.
"It's in the city!" he replied, bringing up a satellite image of
Tokyo-3 on the main screen. In the center, right over the school was a
bright red dot.
"Zoom in! Let's get a picture of it!" Misato ordered.
"Where are the children?" Gendou yelled over the noise.
The picture was growing larger as Misato turned to the commander.
"They are at school!" she screamed, possibly a bit louder than
necessary, then went back to studying the screen.
The satellite reached its capacity and it began to digitally zoom.
Each frame was larger, and the computer cleaned up the pixelation.
Until finally, they were looking right at the point where the marker was
located. "Remove that damned thing!" Misato yelled.
Ritsuko deftly pushed the button as she was closest. The red dot
vanished, and gasps rang out through the room.

"Shinji!" Takeo cried, straining to see the boy hovering about
fifteen stories off the ground. "Perhaps you should come down before
someone sees you!"
Shinji looked down at the source of the plea, and instantly
regretted it. "Aw, geez!" he exclaimed as he nearly lost his balance.
He closed his eyes and slowly lowered himself to the ground. He wiped a
bit of sweat off his forehead. "That was a ride!"
Takeo looked Shinji over, then nodded, "Yes, he seems human."
"Maybe he's just proficient at magic, Takeo-kun." Ayanojou
commented.
"That was great, Shinji!" Sae exclaimed, running up to him and
giving him a hug. She backed away and looked at him with pleading eyes,
"Could you teach me how to fly like that?"
"I've got to admit, that was pretty smooth." Nanaka added, then
looked to Akane, "Don't you agree, Aikawa?"
Akane nodded and smiled, giving Shinji a look that would have had
Takeo donating his blood to the ground in no time. It just sort of slid
over Shinji's head, much to her amusement.

"It's gone." Makoto announced, "He dropped to the ground and the
Field vanished."
Ritsuko spoke without looking up from her readouts, "So, we are to
assume the Field has something to do with his flight."
"You think?" Misato replied sarcastically.
"I want you to find out why the third children was fifty meters in
the air." Gendou announced from on high. "Do what you must, and report
back to me as soon as you discover anything."
Ritsuko nodded at Ikari, then went back to the intensive study of
her papers.
Misato grumbled. She supposed she had better collect Shinji, and
Rei while she was at it to find out if she knew anything. "I'll go
retrieve the children."
Gendou nodded, and she left. He turned to Fuyutsuki. "Well, what
do you make of it?" he asked in a low voice.
The older professor shook his head, "I don't know, but you can bet
the committee won't like it one bit."
Gendou turned back to stare forward, "It's Seele I'm more worried
about."
END PART ONE
Well... there it is, the start to the actual plot. Still not very
revealing, eh? I promise it'll get more in depth soon... oh, and
Asuka's appearance will be premature in this series, probably in the
next part or two. Oh, and the Angels aren't really taking a break, next
part will have the appearance of the Second. Comments and the like much
appreciated!
