Ranma 1/2 : Fate and Destiny Chapter Three Episode Two
Created by Long Ngo
Started February 3, 1998
Finished May 17, 1998

Tendou Training Hall

Saotome Nodoka was sitting next to her best friend, Tendou Kimiko.
They were both watching Kimiko's three daughters, Kasumi, Nabiki, and Akane
spar with their father Tendou Soun, one of the bearers of the Musabetsu Kakuto
Ryuu. He had finished with the morning classes and was now in the process of
giving his daughters some extra practice.

Looking at Soun, Kasumi, Nabiki and Akane, Nodoka felt a little
depressed. Genma and Ranma had left six months ago on their training trip in
order to make her son a man among men and would not be back for another three
years. It would be another three years until Nodoka could call the Saotome
clan one happy family. Shaking her head to clear the depression, she turned
her attention back to the Tendous practicing in the backyard.

"Kimi-chan," Nodoka said, using her best friend's childhood
nickname. "What do you think about Genma and Soun's plan on uniting our two
clans?"

Kimiko, turning towards Nodoka, could see that her childhood friend
was a little depressed at the prospect of not seeing her family for another
three years. Trying to ease Nodoka's anxiety, she said "Ranma and Kasumi
would make a fine couple. If not, I still have two other daughters. If Genma
can't turn Ranma into a man among men after four years, then we have no choice
but to marry Ranma off to all three of my daughters. That way he will still
be a man among men." With that Kimiko broke into a fit of laughter. Nodoka
could not help but laugh with her.

"Ranma would truly be a man among men if he were to have all three
of your daughters chasing after him." After a few more moments of laughter,
Nodoka calmed down a bit but Kimiko could see that Nodoka was holding back her
laughter. "Do you think Kasumi being three years older than Ranma would cause
a problem? We could always switch now."

"Stop worrying Nodoka, we do not have to decide for another ten
years. Besides, last time I checked, Kasumi and Ranma got along fine." Fine
meaning, Kasumi had her way most of the time by sweet talking Ranma into doing
things her way. Smiling at the thought, Kimiko tried to break the tension,
"Off the subject, did you know it's not fair that I have a nickname like Kimi-
chan and you do not."

Sensing what her friend was doing, Nodoka smiled. "Well, how would
you feel if someone called you Nodo-chan?"

Seeing her best friend had a point , they both laughed. "So what
did Genma write in that postcard of his?" Kimiko was curious.

"He said that Ranma made a new friend. Her name is Kuonji Ukyou,
yet Ranma believes that Ukyou is a boy." Smiling to herself a bit, she
remembered the first time Ranma meet the Tendous. He thought that Nabiki,
Akane and Kasumi were all boys. It wasn't until later that Kasumi had to drag
Ranma around a corner and shouted in his ear that they were girls and not
boys. She couldn't stand Ranma's taunting them with the phrase, "Be more like
a man!!" She guessed that he learned that from his father. Sighing, she had
to teach the boy some manners soon. Turning back to Kimi-chan, "They have
become best friends and now Ranma has a sparring partner."

One Months earlier

"So it is agreed upon then Kuonji-san, my son will get a sparring
partner and your daughter will have a friend." Genma shook Kuonji Ukyou
father's hand.

Next day

          "Tousan, I'm hungry." Ranma complained.

"How did you like the okonomiyaki you had yesterday?" Genma asked.

"It was great Tousan. Can we have some more?"

"Yes you may. On your way to school, if you can get by Ukyou then
you may take an okonomiyaki. You do remember Ukyou don't you son?"

"The boy with the big metal thingy?"

"Err...yes the boy with the big spatula," Genma was glad that Ranma
had not found out that Ukyou was a girl. He and Soun had plans on uniting the
two halves of the Musabetsu Kakuto Ryuu. He took Ranma away from Nodoka
because he didn't want any female influence to hurt Ranma's training. "Make
me proud son." Everytime Genma looked at Ranma, he could not help feel proud
of his son. Ranma was all that was good in Genma and everything he could
never be as well. Even though some of his teaching techniques were questioned
by various masters from several different schools, it was the only way he knew
how to teach. A momento left by his former master.

      "I'll make you proud Tousan!"

      "That's my boy."

"It's getting late Ranma. Go get your breakfast."

      "Hai."

Present

"I just hope Ranma is keeping up with his school work with all that
training. Dear never thought school was important." Nodoka continued after
reading the postcard to Kimiko.

"Trust me Nodoka, I made sure Ranma would attend school during his
training trips."

      "Oh?"

"Yes. I explained to Soun that I want a son-in-law that was not only
good at martial arts but was smart as well. Knowing how Soun doesn't like to
disappoint me, he made Genma promised to make Ranma attend school wherever
they were in his last postcard."

"You mean if he wants to eat, right Kimi-chan?"

Both of them laughed at the last comment.

"I picked it up from you Nodoka."

That caused both of them to break out again.
