All this "What if Ukyou was really a boy?" talk makes me wonder if we 
aren't missing the boat.  Ukyou is like the very last main character to 
show up, and changing her would have only minimal effects on the whole 
Ranma situation.  

Er, actually, no it wouldn't.  As a matter-of-fact, that's contrary to the
fact.  Read more fanfics. :)

The _real_ question is this.

What if Akane was really a boy?

No one brought this up because it's been done before. :)  There is, as you
mentioned, the 'change Ranma and Akane and everyone else for that matter
(and I thought of a really original name for Akane 'Kaneda')' type, but I'm
almost positive I've read this exact topic before.  (There's 'Akane 1/2,'
of course, but Akane just got the boy curse in that one.)

(Someone mentioned the 'Ukyou is a boy' topic being obvious.  This one's
even worse.  I can't even begin to fathom this idea not having been done
before. :P)
