"What if Ukyou really *had* been a boy?"
 

This is easy to do.

Consider an alternate universe where Mr. Kuonji had a son. Desperately
wanting a girl instead, and not being the stable type, he convinced
himself that little Ukyo *was* female, and raised him to believe it.

Then along come Genma and Ranma. Ranma and Ukyo become friends, and
their fathers make an engagement deal. All's well until Genma peeks
under Ukyo's clothes. Oops. Not knowing what else to do, he leaves Ukyo
by the side of the road and runs off with Ranma and the okonomiyaki
cart.

Ukyo grows up an orphan, puzzled by all these people who insist that
he's a male. He comes to the conclusion that it's Ranma and Genma's
fault, and decides to humor people by dressing up like a boy until he
can get his revenge....

Is that a Hitomi-esque plot or what? :-) I don't have time to write it,
though. Any takers?
