I wouldn't say that.  Goten is still at an impressionable age and being
polite is something that his mother would keep trying to drum into him.

could give a half-way decent fight.

Yes.  Kid.  He _is_ only about nine, or so, years old.
Remember, this is six _months_ after the Buu saga.

All in all, I liked this story and look forward to more.
