Ikkoku. lf you haven't seen the ending, wish to be surprised, or you just
don't
want to know about this, delete this sucker now! You've been warned!

Many thanks to Patrick Vera and Bob Barnes. They gave me all the info l
needed. Hey guys, l would've done this as a fic, but l heard this song and
absolutely had to do a songfic instead.

Maison Ikkoku is owned by Rumiko Takahashi. The song "l will remember you"
is by Sarah McLachlan. l don't own either. Please don't sue me!
C&C are more than welcome. Now... on to the songfic!

Weep Not For The Memories
By Kasey (lyrics by Sarah McLachlan)

[The scene opens on Kyoko looking down on Soichiro's tombstone,
the wind blowing through her hair. A ghostly figure with his back to the
camera watches Kyoko place flowers next to the grave and start
talking.]

I will remember you.
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by.
Weep not for the memories.

[Kyoko turns and sees an embarrassed Yusaku waiting for her. She
looks pained, but smiles gently at him. Soichiro's form follows them
as Kyoko and Yusaku talk about things in the past. Most of them
about their past misunderstandings.]

Remember the good times that we had.
[Kyoko holds Yusaku up as they walk around the hospital shortly
after Yusaku re-breaks his leg. We see their makeshift embrace
and their near kiss.]

We let them slip away from us when things gone bad.
[Next we see Kyoko's hurt expression when Kozue began caring for
Yusaku.]

Clearly l first saw you smiling in the sun.
[We see Kyoko walking home remembering when she took care of her
late husband when he was ill.]

Wanna feel your warmth upon me;
[How he smiled as she brought him homemade soup in bed.]

I won't be the one.
[And her reaction when she got home to find that her husband had
passed on while she was away.]

[Soichiro's form puts his arm around her as she walks home alone,
wishing he could do more than just watch.]

I will remember you.
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by.
Weep not for the memories.

[We see most of the tenants (with the exception of young lchinose)
drunk and passed out on the floor of a lodge.]

I'm so tired, but l can't sleep.
[Yusaku is watching Kyoko trying to figure out how to sleep closer to
her.]

Standing on the edge of something much too deep.
[Soichiro's form smiles as he watches Yusaku try to inch closer to
Kyoko.]

It's funny how we feel so much, but cannot say a word.
[Soichiro winces as Kentaro steps on Yusaku.]

We are screaming inside, oh we can't be heard.
[Yusaku covers his mouth to muffle his scream.]

[Soichiro smiles as he sees Yusaku accidentally fall on Kyoko. But
his smile turns to a frown as she calls out his name and not Yusaku's.
He turns away.]

I will remember you.
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by.
Weep not for the memories.

[Soichiro watches as Kyoko's father collapses. Yusaku puts him on
his back and begins to carry him.]

So afraid to love you,
[Kyoko looks over at Yusaku carrying her father on his back.]

More afraid to lose.
[Yusaku proposes. Kyoko grabs him and says "Promise me that even
if it's only for one day, you'll live longer than I do. I don't think I can
stand to be alone anymore."]

Clinging to a past that won't let me choose.
[Later, Kyoko stands at Soichiro's grave again and tells him that she
returned his things and that she will always love him. Soichiro's ghost
form cries tears of joy as he hears this. She has finally moved on.]

Once there was a darkness, a deep and endless night.
[Yusaku steps up to the grave and tells Soichiro that he was always a
part of Kyoko's heart. When he marries Kyoko, he will also marry
Soichiro. Cherry blossoms fly around Yusaku as he says this.]

You gave me everything you had.
[Soichiro watches from the back of the wedding chapel as Kyoko and
Yusaku exchange their vows.]

Oh you gave me life.
[Yusaku and Kyoko kiss and Soichiro smiles as he turns and walks
through the wall, vanishing.]

[At the reception, Kyoko and Yusaku thank everyone for being there
and being a part of their lives.]

l will remember you.
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by.
Weep not for the memories.

[A year has passed and Kyoko and Yusaku bring home their new
daughter, Haruka. Everyone marvels at how cute she is. Kyoko
silently wonders if Soichiro can see her.]

I will remember you.
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by.
Weep not for the memories.

[It leaves on the last scene of the series. A group shot of everyone one
in front of Maison Ikkoku with the cherry blossoms falling gently to the
ground.]

Weep not for the memories.
