Somewhat, yes.  However, how does the ship move if the engines are
holograms?  

The same way that Rimmer moves, since he's a hologram! ^_^

at least need a few robots or something solid to do repairs?  Or is this
just one of those 'don't think too hard' things? :)

No... the ship is a hologram, just like the people, so the computer
projecting the ship would have to reload an uncorrupted version of the
ship.

It has to be projected from somewhere non-holographic, and so it projects
the whole lot of them moving along.

I'm just guessing here, becaues I don't recall anywhere talking about how
Rimmer even moved, since he was light.

The story was comprehensible, but it was hard to follow at first, since
you draw on a lot of episodes I haven't seen yet.

What are the more confusing parts?

Well, the whole Rimmer suddenly off by himself with the computer confused
me.  That was the hard part.  And trying to figure out how the Hologram
ship worked :)

Ah... so why Rimmer went off... hmmm... though if I explained why, it
would be a spoiler. :/

So this looks like it's confusing for the casual Dwarf watcher, who hasn't
seen series 7 or Ace Rimmer...

I wonder if people who haven't seen Red Dwarf at all understood it...

And, well... sorry, I'm not an engineering type person, so I don't know
how it works. ^^;;;;
