To all of you out there in fanfic land, here is a rare song parody by
me. I thought of this while reading Haming's "The Day Anime Died".
Anyway, seeing the name of this sort of inspired me to do a filkfic...
not something I normally do mind you. However, I like Don McLean...
"Anime Dies"
The Filk by Phillip Masters
To the tune of "American Pie" by Don McLean
Bear with some of the lines, as with most filk you have to bend some of
the syllables to fit properly... but I did it, so you can too ^_^.

It wasn't that long ago,
I can still remember how that anime used to make me smile.
I watched Sailor Moon in her stance.
I watched Rei throw the lance,
and maybe I was happy for a while.
But I knew it couldn't last forever.
The happiness was bound to sever,
Dic was commiting rape.
I couldn't buy one more tape.
I remember getting teary eyed,
the moment that Toho Video fried.
and I lost something deep inside,
the day the anime died.
So...
*COTA*
Sayonara Hayashibara
Drove my Tempo to the Expo, but I just couldn't buy.
And the animators were as pissed off as I,
screaming, "This'll be the day that I die...
This'll be the day that I die."
*COTA*
Did you watch Miyaka fall in love,
and did you watch Mihoshi fall from above
in the OVA, not the TV show?
Ah, did you think Kintaro was a laugh...
did you see Clef wave around his staff,
and can you teach me how to draw like CLAMP?
Well, I know that you're an otaku,
'cause I saw you watch Maison Ikkoku.
And the final tape to you I lend,
I'll watch you cry at the end!
We all saw Darshu rip out his heart,
and hoped Kitomi wouldn't fart.
But I knew the downfall was to start,
the day the anime died.
I started yelling...
*COTA*
Now, I pretended I didn't hear,
when they said the dub of Rayearth was near.
'Cause that's not how it should be.
When Lina cast her last Dragon Slave,
and Yakumo didn't escape the grave
we knew things wouldn't be the same...
Oh, and while Kamui was turned around,
the Tokyo Tower fell to the ground.
Macross was quickly burned,
and nobody has returned.
And after Hitomi lost her sight,
and Ranma fought his final fight,
we knew it was end of the light
the day the anime died.
We were crying...
*COTA*

I'm afraid I'm going to have to continue this later... I'm only half way
through for crying out loud! I'll do the rest tomorrow as this takes a
lot out of a person. If anyone has a URL for a MIDI of this song,
please post it for others. Thanks in advance.
And, thanks for reading!
