And before somebody says, it's NOT Kimiko. That is, as far as I can tell, a
fanfic invention that has creeped into the pool of common knowledge, rather
like passion spice and Ryoga's exageratted habit of getting-lost.

  There may be no "passion spice" in the Ranma 1/2 manga, but there _is_
something similar.

  The kairaishi mushroom is a potent little fungus that when eaten by
someone forces them to involuntarily do a command.  You speak the command
and associate a sound with it.

  Cologne used it to put someone to sleep by snapping her fingers.  He woke
up, and Cologne snapped her fingers again.  He fell back asleep.

  Shampoo fed the mushroom to Ranma, intent on getting him to hug her when
she snapped her fingers.

  Unfortunately, Shampoo fed Ranma in front of the Funrikan student body
and Kunou had a cold that day..

  So every time someone sneezed, Ranma hugged him.

  Shampoo tossed pepper about, and a lot of people sneezed.  All of them
were MALE, and started to make comments along the lines of assuming that
Ranma was gay.

  It gets worse, of course.  Akane ALSO has a cold.  Man, the Tendou house
had lots and lots of property damage that day.  ^_^.  The only women Ranma
hugged were Akane (lots of times) and Shampoo (once.)
  Yes, Ranma _will_ grab Shampoo as a cat.  He did this _explicitly_, and
jumped in the bath to change her back.

  The point?

  Shampoo said "hug."  She could have easily said "kiss," or something much
more x-rated.  Of course, sex is a non issue in Takahashi's Ranma 1/2.
It's hard to tell how long the effects last, since Takahashi varies the
time for comedic purposes.
